440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.3%. Very dark brown to black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of mild malts, a hint of sourish berries. Soft mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour, notes of mild malts and liquorice, hints of chocolate, but not too sweet. Low bitterness as expected.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of yellow plums and over-ripe peaches. Rich mouthfeel. Hoppy flavour, notes of resin, pine needles, yellow plums, peaches and apricots. Good beer.

Cask with sparkler and cask breather, Cardinal, Stavanger. Reddish brown colour (not golden), white head. Aroma of toffee and earthy hops. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavour of grapefruity and earthy hops, distinctly bitter finish. Sufficient malts. Good beer.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Pacific pale. Hops are Pacifica, Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic. Gusher can. Slightly hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of citric and spicy hops, hints of tropical fruits. Slightly sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, moderate bitterness.

330 ml can, from Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes. ABV is 4.7%. Moderately hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of pine and spruce, a hint of grapefruit too. Citric mouthfeel and flavour, with piney and resinous notes throughout, but the bitterness is moderate. More of an American West Coast Pale Ale than anything typical English. Nice beer.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, as St Feuillien Oaked Quadruple, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%. Deep brown colour, large beige head. Aroma of malts, dark sugar, dark dried fruits and anise, a hint of sweat. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, malts and dark sugar again, not very spicy, low bitterness, moderate notes of oak. Not bad, but cannot compete with the best trappists.

Aug. 2005: 750 ml bottle, corked champagne-style. Bought in Denmark. Very large and lasting cream-coloured head, beer is hazy brown with a reddish hue. Very strong and "raw" aroma of barnyard, ensilage, ammonia, leather and fermenting fruits, mellows gradually in the glass. Flavour is a bit smoother and mellower than the aroma - chocolate sweetness, some oak and spices, moderate but decent hops. Mouthfeel becomes strangely metallic and watery (for a 7.5% beer, that is) in the finish. Some liquorice in the aftertaste. An interesting beer after all.

June 2013: Corked and caged 750 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fine aroma of saison yeast, mild spices and fruity hops (peaches and mango). Very hoppy flavour, the American hops dominate, and the more subtle saison elements become subdued.

July 2020: 750 ml bottle, batch #1, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Golden colour, only slightly hazy, with a minimal white head. Aroma of pine needles, apple cider, farmhouse, honey and oak. Very moderate carbonation, but not lifeless. Medium sour flavour of pine, honey, apple cider, brettanomyces, apple cider vinegar.

July 2017: Keg halfpint at Graingers, Dublin. Golden colour, white head. Nice aroma of fruity / citrussy hops. Distinctly hoppy flavour, grapefruity first, with a resinous bitterness.

330 ml clear bottle, as Sassy Cidre, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden colour, pours vigorously sparkling with a large white head that actually lasts a while. Pleasant aroma of cider apples and dessert apples, hints of oak and sulphites. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, with the same elements as the aroma.

500 ml capped & corked bottle, as Wicked Weed Funkatorium Artistry Series III, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of lactic acid, farmhouse, oak, fennel, angelica root, dragonfruit and orange blossom. Sour flavour, notes of lactic acid and lemons, said ingredients are very subdued. A good sour ale, but hardly worth the high price in Norway.

June 2013: Shared 375 ml bottle, thanks to Ole Anders. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Strong roasty aroma of coffee and wood, a hint of ashes. Even more distinct roasty and coffee notes in the flavour, quite dry, woody and ashy.

500 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 4.8%. Slightly hazy pale straw colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of banana and cloves. The flavour has also banana and cloves, and some citrus. This must have been intended as a Hefeweizen, not a witbier? But coriander and orange peel are on the ingredients list.

375 ml clear bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Extremely pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Nice aroma of fresh Norwegian eating apples. The flavour is also fresh, with a distinct fruity acidity, some sweetness but still fairly crisp.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, as Le Brun Cidre Artisanal Brut Pur Jus Biologique, from Vinmonopolet Sauda. ABV is 5.5%. Clear golden to orange colour, pours moderately sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, dessert apples and oak, a hint of sulphites. Medium dry flavour - hardly "brut", there is still a substantial amount of residual fruit sugars. Otherwise the same elements as the aroma.

Dec. 2012: Shared bottle at local tasting. Hazy dark brown colour. Moderate malty aroma with a hint of smoke. Rich and pleasant malty flavour. This is a doppelbock, not a Belgian strong ale! Not very sweet though, and the high ABV is well hidden. Hints of salt and smoke.
