330 ml bottle, at Roma Pizzeria, Funchal. ABV is 10.5%. Slightly hazy orange colour, large white head. Aroma and flavour of Belgian ale yeast, kandij sugar syrup, mild spices, stewed fruits, hints of dark dried fruits. Nothing wrong with it, but there are even better Belgian strong ales in this style.

Aug. 2016: 355 ml can, BB date 13 days ago. ABV is 6.5%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh aroma of pine, spruce, citrus and newmown grass. Medium dry and crisp flavour with distinct notes, notes of pine needles, spruce tips and grapefruit. Refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Clear deep golden to amber to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, but not overwhelming. Hints of orange marmalade. The flavour is surprisingly well balanced and harmonious for something called "HopDevil" - hoppy of course, but no devil is at loose here, rather a benevolent HopAngel. Me like!

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV was said to be 5.5%. Moderately hazy pale golden colour, creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits and yellow plums. The flavour has notes of said fruits, but also a distinct bitterness, almost medicinal.

375 ml bottle, blend #4, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma and flavour of brettanomyces, oak, white wine vinegar and lemons.

March 2016: 330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer (I could swear I had rated this beer before, but apparently not). Dark reddish brown colour, large beige head. The aroma has first a whiff of smoke, then notes of red wine, red wine vinegar, oak and horse stable. Pleasant flavour, malty, fruity and only moderately sour, again notes of red wine, red wine vinegar and oak, hardly any noticeable hops. Still easy drinking, due to the fruitiness. The alcohol is well hidden. Nice one.

June 2019: 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.5%, IBU 29. hop is Centennial, malts are pilsener, chocolate and caramel. Dark brown colour, large and lasting beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel and brown bread. Smooth flavour and mouthfeel, moderate roast malts and caramel again, moderate but noticeable hops. Okay.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Reddish brown colour, off-white head. Fruity aroma and flavour, but in the more subdued British dark berry style (not the American citrus / tropical fruits style). There is also a distinct and sharpish bitterness throughout.

Fizzy mouthfeel. Very hoppy and medium dry flavour, pine needles and resin galore, also grapefruit, very bitter finish.

750 ml clear bottle, batch #20220121, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.01%. Crystal clear and very pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Nice aroma of Rubinstep apples, hints of sulphites. Semi-dry flavour, notes of apples, again a hint of sulphites.

Pleasant aroma of chocolate, cocoa and mild coffee, hints of vanilla. The flavour is fresh and slightly fruity, fairly dry, again with notes of chocolate / cocoa, hints of vanilla and a whiff of smoke, moderate hops in the finish.

The flavour is not too sweet, but has the same elements as the aroma, ending in a rather sharp and dry bitterness.

Strong aroma of oak and fortified wine - the apples are there in the background. Very sweet and intense flavour, notes of sweet apples, raisins, oak and fortified wine.

Aroma of tropical fruits and crushed grapes, hints of sweat. Flavour of citrus, tropical fruits and pine needles, decent bittering hops.
