1428 | Redwillow Wreckless | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask (hand pump) at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival 2011. Deep golden colour, low head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops, notes of tropical fruits / passion fruit. The flavour is also dominated by fruity hops, hints of tropical fruits, could use a little more citrussy freshness, but still good. One of the better beers of the festival. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 11.2 fl. oz. bottle, as Original Flag Porter, apparently labeled for export to USA. Brewed by Darwin Brewery. ABV is 5.0%. Bought at The Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Very dark ruby colour, nearly black. Large beige head. Nice aroma of moderately roasted malts and dark chocolate. Smooth and pleasant mouthfeel. The flavour has again notes of moderately roasted malts, mild coffee and dark chocolate, but the beer is not too sweet. Moderate bitterness. |

1432 | Nøgne Ø Single Hop Citra IPA | Norway | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Sample from keg, courtesy of the brewery. Amber colour, moderate head. Distinct aroma and flavour of Citra hops, with the expected notes of citrus fruit, but also more complexity and better balance than you expect from a single hop ale. Nøgne Ø should make this a permanent brew IMO. |

1434 | Beer Here Ammestout | Denmark | Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, large brown head. Roasty aroma, strong notes of coffee, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is roasty and medium sweet, strong notes of coffee again. A nice stout, but it would be probably be tasty even without the coffee, which I assume the nursing mother and her baby wouldn’t miss before they go to sleep. |

1435 | Mikkeller Koppi Tomahawk x Guji Natural Coffee IPA | Denmark | American Black Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, Cardinal & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Amber colour, slightly hazy. Large off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of coffee and powerful Tomahawk hops, an unusual combination. The flavour has a considerable sweetness, followed up by strong notes of coffee and resinous and fruity hops. The combination feels kind of weird, but on the other hand: Why not? |

1436 | Øl-laboratoriet Hophead IPA | Denmark | Imperial IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy amber colour. Nice aroma of American hops. The flavour is allegedly "vehemently hopped" with Columbus, Centennial and and Simcoe. The beer is indeed well hopped, but not "vehemently". Seems quite well balanced to me, and is very drinkable. |

1438 | Dugges Perfect Idjit! 2010 | Sweden | Imperial Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 Sample from bottle, Copenhagen Beer Festival. Black colour. Intense aroma, roasty, vanilla, chocolate, a hint of fusel, oak. The flavour has much the same elements, the hint of fusel detracts a point or two, and the sweetness is bordering on "too much". But by all means, this is a craft beer well worth sampling. |

1444 | Lervig Betty Brown | Norway | Brown Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Shared bottles at the release, Lervig’s tent at Gladmatfestivalen, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, creamy beige head. Moderate aroma, notes of malts and chocolate. The flavour has strong notes of chocolate malts, also hints of caramel and nuts, but is never too sweet. Balanced by distinct notes of NZ Pacific Gem hops, which, with their blackberry-like character, is an interesting choice for a brown ale. As Betty Brown is very flavourful and has a decent mouthfeel, you’d easily believe it was stronger than it actually is. This is definitely a beer I’ll buy frequently. In Norway, only Nøgne Ø Brown Ale can compete. |

Malty aroma, some woody and caramel notes, also roasty notes with hints of cold coffee, also hints of smoke and chocolate. Rich malty flavour, fairly sweet with notes of caramel and chocolate, also mild roasty notes in the finish, just a touch of smoke, very moderate hops. Pleasant to drink. |

1446 | Kernel Suke Quto Coffee India Pale Ale | United Kingdom | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 6.5%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate white head. Hoppy aroma, moderate notes of tropical fruits. Just a hint of coffee (not sure if I’d have noticed if I didn’t know it should be there). The flavour is also predominantly hoppy (but not extreme for an IPA), while the coffee comes through in the finish. However, the conservative part of me still thinks that coffee is somehow misplaced in a golden ale or IPA - but at the same time I have to admit that this is a tasty and likeable beer ... |

1447 | Mikkeller Belgian Tripel | Denmark | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy deep golden to amber colour, low white head. Lovely fruity and spicy aroma, notes of brown kandij sugar, hints of tobacco. The flavour is fairly spicy with a substantial fruity and malty sweetness, not quite as light bodied (for its strength) as some other triples are, has a distinct presence of hops and alcohol. Interesting and quite good. |
