Winner as the best beer from Norwegian local breweries, in the competition arranged by "Hanen" (chain of Norwegian farm food shops). Pitch black colour, moderate to small tan head. Distinct aroma of dark rum and oak, a hint of vanilla. Very sweet flavour, roast malts and distinct dark rum and oak, not sure I could point out the birch sap (which by itself is a very smooth and mild flavour) and the chaga, if I did not know that they were there. Notes of caramel, dark syrup and vanilla. Warming mouthfeel.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Cloudy / murky yellow colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of citrus and various tropical fruits. Flavour of grapefruit, pineapple and passionfruit, some resinous notes in the finish, moderate bitterness. An enjoyable brew.

Aroma of malts, caramel, brown kandij sugar syrup, dark dried fruits and mild spices. The flavour has the same elements, but is not too sweet. Also notes of oak. Moderate hops in the finish.

750 ml corked & caged green bottle, as Cervesia Archéosite Aubechies-Blicquy. Brewed by Dupont, bottled 2022. Refermented in the bottle. ABV is 8%. Purchased at Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Golden to orange colour, large white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, stewed yellow fruits and mild spices. The flavour has the same elements, but is not too sweet. Distinctly spicy finish, but the bitterness is moderate.

Citric and pleasant mouthfeel. Flavour of said fruits, also citrus, not too sweet, piney finish, nice bitterness. Might well buy again.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Opaque pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of various citrus fruits, also notes of pine and spruce. The flavour is on the dry side, distinct notes of pine needles and resin, with citrus and yellow stonefruits in the background. Medium bitter finish. A nice NEPA.

Aroma of oranges and orange marmalade, also other citrus fruits, a hint of spruce. Rich mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, notes of citric hops, pine needles, alcohol and noticeable bittering hops, well balanced and enjoyable.

Pleasant aroma of citrus, melon, mango, papaya and guava. Nice flavour with notes of said fruits, also a pleasant hop burn, and a moderate bitterness in the finish.

440 ml can, as Salikatt Bermuda Rig New England Triple IPA, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.0%. Hazy / opaque yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of melon, guava, papaya and mango, hints of citrus and spruce. Rich mouthfeel. Juicy and zesty flavour, some sweetness but not too much, with the same elements as the aroma, moderate bitterness. Dangerously drinkable for its strength.

March 2022: 500 ml bottle, batch #2546, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 12%, IBU 40. Cloudy orange to pale brown colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citric hops and yeast. Thick and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is a bit too far out on the sweet side, notes of brown sugar, malts, fruity hops (citrus, apricot, tropical fruits) and alcohol. Still eminently drinkable.

Fikk tatt en bitteliten smaksprøve av denne i dag, men det var nok til å fastslå at dette er et veldig godt øl! Deilig aroma av frisk appelsin, samt innslag av de fruktene som bryggeriet nevner ovenfor. Disse fruktene går igjen i smaken (de skyldes altså humletilsetningen, og ikke noen frukttilsetning!), men du får likevel en klar forståelse av at dette er et øl, og ikke et glass med fruktjuice. Humlebitterheten er moderat, men merkbar. Nam nam! Sampled again from tap at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal, Stavanger. I really like this one. The best in the Hop Tweak series from HaandBryggeriet so far?

Avdelingen for sære ølnavn! Også denne fikk jeg tatt en bitteliten smaksprøve av i dag, og kan love at den ga mersmak. Tydelig aroma av havre (Kjell mener den lukter kraftfor!), rund smak av havrekjeks også, samt innslag av mild kaffe, rosiner og sjokolade, men uten å bli sjenerende søt. Rerate, sampled on tap at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal, Stavanger. Smooth and pleasant to drink, definitely not too sweet. A nice oatmeal stout!

July 2017: Cask halfpint at The Junction, Castleford. Pitch black colour, tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast malts, red wine, liquorice and chocolate. Rich flavour, roast malts, red wine, liquorice, some alcohol, oak. Warming mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

June 2021: 440 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Moderately hazy golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of mango, passionfruit, papaya and guava. The flavour is fruity / citric but not too sweet, again with notes of said tropical fruits. Hints of sprucetips, but the bitterness is low. Enjoyable beer, might well buy again.

Smooth and fresh flavour, again with notes of pine needles / resin, citrus and tropical fruits. Moderate bitterness. Very good beer!

375 ml waxed bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 13.3%. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Boozy aroma of bourbon whiskey, fusel and molasses, also oak, coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is quite sweet, and has the same elements as the aroma, also notes of brown sugar and a hint of dark dried fruits. Sharing the bottle might be a good idea.
