6526 | Breda Super Dry Premium Lager | Guernsey | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 August 2014: Pint on tap at The Last Post, Guernsey, as Breda Super Dry Premium Lager. Should probably have the same brewery status as Breda XXX Royal Lager / Premium Lager (= Brewed at Randalls by/for United Dutch Breweries). Very pale golden colour., long sparkling with small bubbles (probably due to the etchings in the glass). Moderate white head. Weak aroma, some grassy hints. Reasonably dry and crisp flavour, but not "super dry" - there is some residual sweetness. No off-flavours, but unfortunately the hops are far too moderate. |

6527 | Gubernija Bread Kvass Dark Rye (Chlebnij Kvass) | Lithuania | Reduced Alcohol | 2.3

Deep brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma of dark rye bread. Medium sweet flavour, notes of dark rye bread, sugar, lemonade and cola. |

6528 | Bira 91 Lager | India | Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, as Bira 91 Lager, from Helgø Meny Stokka. ABV is 4.5%. Clear pale golden colour, moderate to small white head. Strong sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, cooked rice and newmown grass. The flavour is not as sweet as the aroma made me fear, fairly crisp and refreshing like the label says, but the hop bitterness is too moderate. |

6530 | Fjordfolk Tall Ship Nautical Star | Norway | Cider | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 440 ml can, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Orange colour, pours sparkling with a white head that actually lasts a while. Aroma of apples, blood oranges, hibiscus and artificial candy. Flavour with the same elements, not very good. Won't buy again. Fjordfolk has better ciders than this one. |

6531 | Beer Hut Citra / Ella Pale Ale | United Kingdom | American Pale Ale | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 440 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.5%. Overcarbonated, the glass fills completely be white foam, and the hazy and very pale yellow beer appears only very slowly. Aroma of citric and spicy hops, with some less pleasant notes of broth and fart in the background. Fizzy mouthfeel, thin body. Flavour of moderate citric and piney hops, one-dimensional. Won't buy again. |

6532 | Nedstrand NB Stout | Norway | Stout | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, batch #96, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Gusher bottle, insanely overcarbonated. 1/3 of the content left the bottle before I had a chance to pour. The glass fills completely by beige foam, and the black beer appears only very slowly. Moderate aroma of roast malts and wild yeast. Thin and slightly acidic mouthfeel. Flavour of roast malts and coffee, dry. Some bittering hops in the finish. This batch should have been withdrawn from the market. |

6533 | Lilland Maize Lager | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, from Lilland's off-licence. Gluten free. ABV is 4.7%. Sligtly hazy and very pale straw colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of maize (sweet corn), hints of wort and baby porridge. Thin mouthfeel. Slightly citric flavour, some maize in the background, low bitterness. Drinkable, but not very exciting, and hardly the first choice of the beer enthusiast. |

6534 | Lindemans Pomme (Apple) | Belgium | Fruit Lambic | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 April 2018: 375 ml capped & corked green bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 3.5%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of apples and artificial "apple" candy. Very sweet flavour, apples and apple candy galore. I'd prefer a decent cider, if you please. Might be better with ice cubes. Won't buy again. |

6535 | Mountain Crest Gold Lager | United States | Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, as Mountain Crest Canadian Lager, from Mountain Crest Brewing Company, Calgary. Brewed with Canadian 2 Row Malt. ABV is 4.7%. Bought at Vaaland, Bryne. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate grassy aroma. Bland flavour, but no offensive side-notes. Some malty sweetness, very moderate hops. Won’t buy again. |

6536 | Mack Mørketidsøl | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, bought at Vaaland Spesialbutikken, Bryne. Golden colour, decent head. ABV is 4.7%. Over-boiled maize and vegetables in the aroma, a little caramel too. Thin and fizzy mouthfeel. Boring flavour - a little caramel, minimal hops. Yawn ... zzzzzz. |

6537 | Hansa Chill | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml slimline can. "To be served at 0 degrees C" = on the verge of freezing, which says a lot about Hansa’s ambitions with this beer. Defiantly I drank the beer at normal fridge temperature - and it was somewhat better than I feared! Pale golden colour, head goes from huge to none. Moderate fruity aroma. Fairly clean pilsener flavour, slightly lemony, hints of alcohol, very moderate hops. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel. I’ve had worse beers - at least this one is drinkable. |

6538 | Seljord Eplecider | Norway | Cider | 2.3
Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 275 ml clear slimline bottle with twist-off cap. Extremely pale straw coloured, fizzy. Moderate apple aroma and flavour (of eating apples, not cider apples), not very exciting but not offensive either. Fizzy and watery mouthfeel. An okay refreshment, no more than that. |

6539 | Mahou Cinco Estrellas | Spain | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, fizzy, moderate head. Moderate grainy aroma, hints of fruit and honey. Fairly clean grainy and fruity flavour, moderate hops. Alcohol is noticeable, but not unpleasant. A drinkable beer, but not remarkable. |

6540 | Små Vesen Yme Pils Spesial | Norway | Kellerbier | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 3 330 ml bottle, bought at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.5%. Brew nr. 4, B.B. date 09.08. Thick sediment in the bottle. Hazy pale golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Strong fruity / hoppy aroma, but even stronger notes of yeast and spices and a blooming infection. The flavour is very acidic and lemony, nearly lambic-like, just like their Kvernknurr. Not much to remind you of a pilsener here. This new brewery obviously has some severe infection problems - if they don’t ship up pretty fast, they’ll be out of business before you know it. |

6542 | Mack Afterski Winter Party Beer | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can. ABV is 4.7%. Golden colour, fluffy white head. Very vague and weak sweetish aroma, hints of maize, also a hint of caramel as the beer warms up. The flavour is way too sugary and sweet, but at least there is some maltiness too, so unlike "smrprty" it is not void of flavour. Fizzy mouthfeel, minimal bitterness. |

6543 | Aass After Ski | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml clear bottle, thanks to Ole_R. Pale yellow colour, big head. Heineken-like aroma (an American would say "skunked") - Heineken is slightly better though, hints of citrus and maize baby porridge. The flavour is slightly lemony and wheaty, and could probably be called "refreshing" if drunk colder than I did. Minimal hops. Soft and thin mouthfeel. After a long day of skiing (or other open air activities) I would want a better beer than this one, that’s for sure. |

6544 | Aass Sommerøl Lite | Norway | Light / Lite Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, decent head. Tolerable aroma with some fruity notes, also notes of malts (quite a surprise from a lite beer!), flowers and honey. The flavour has a certain sweetness and some grainy notes, quite boring but not as bad as I feared. Very modest hops. Not undrinkable. |

6545 | Pokal Pilsner (Unibrew) | Denmark | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, bought at Coop Obs, Stavanger, as Pokal Lys Pilsner, contract brewed in Norway for Coop Trading A/S, Denmark. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, big head. Sweetish typical industrial pale lager aroma, some fruitiness. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly boring as expected, but not offensive, and there are at least some notes of pilsener malts. Very moderate hops. Easy drinking, and as the price in Norway so far is very moderate too (as moderate as our alcohol taxes allow), I expect Pokal to sell well to beer drinkers more concerned with quantity and low prices rather than quality. |

6546 | Iki Beer | Belgium | Spiced Beer | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway. ABV is 4.3%. Website for this beer is www.ikibeer.com . Hazy pale yellow colour, big and lasting white head. The sweetish aroma is a bit strange, after all green tea and yuzy fruit are not common ingredients in beers. Some rubbery notes too. The flavour has some wheaty notes, but is most of all reminiscent of lemon ice tea. Minimal bitterness. Not undrinkable, but won’t buy again. |

6547 | Carlton Cold | Australia | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 375 ml clear bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, fizzy, with a big to moderate lasting white head. Moderate fruity aroma, notes of candy and citrus. Zesty mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately sweet with some fruity notes, minimal hops, bland finish. Not much to write home about here. Far from undrinkable though. |

6548 | Egge Gård Ekte Sider | Norway | Cider | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 750 ml clear ’champagne’ bottle, bought at Centra, Oslo. Made from the Aroma apple variety, vintage 2007, bottle #2494. ABV is 4.7%. Extremely pale yellow colour with a greenish hue. Pours heavily sparkling with a shortlived head. Carbonation in the glass subsides rapidly. Aroma and flavour of sweet apples, sulphur and cheap white wine. Fairly thin mouthfeel, sugary finish. They have probably used ’yeast stopper’ and sulphur here to terminate the fermentation prematurely, in order to keep the ABV below the Norwegian ’grocery store limit’ (less than 4.75%). I am not a big fan of this one. Won’t buy again. |

6549 | Grans Juleøl Original Sterk (klasse F) | Norway | Bock | 2.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Mahogany coloured beer, big and creamy beige head. The aroma has some malts and caramel, but most of all unpleasant notes of artificial "red berries" syrup. The flavour has some malts, but is first and foremost metallic, acidic and "empty". This is, par excellence, the worst Norwegian "klasse F" Yule/Christmas beer on the market. Close to belonging in the "drainpour" category, and certainly not something I would offer my guests with Christmas dinner. |

6550 | Mack Freeze Julebrygg | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, thanks to OleR. Amber to brown colour, moderate off-white head. Typical n/a beer aroma of over-boiled vegetables and baby porridge, but also malts and caramel. The flavour is not too sweet, moderately grainy with hints of caramel. There is a noticeable presence of herbal hops too, so for a n/a beer this one is not undrinkable when cold. |
