6426 | Lundetangen Juleøl (klasse D) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Another "klasse D" Christmas beer, brewed by Aass under the name of long gone Lundetangen Bryggeri. Reddish brown colour, artificial raspberry candy aroma, weak and watery flavour - not nearly as spicy as this style requires. Weak aftertaste. And of course, too low ABV to be a "real" Juleøl. |

6427 | Ringnes Bayersk Lager | Norway | Helles / Dortmunder | 2.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml can, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. A new beer from Ringnes - I thought this was supposed to be a Münchener dunkel, but it is more of a Münchener helles. Deep golden colour, decent head. Very moderate aroma, some fruity hops and boiled vegetables. Flavour has some dusty hops and a hint of caramel - and is otherwise utterly boring. |

6429 | Grans Juleøl (klasse D) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Norwegian discount grocery store Christmas beer. Fairly clean tasting low ABV Christmas beer, at least it's slightly better than you'd expect from this miserable brewery. Drinkable, but of course: watery and thin like most other "klasse D" Juleøl. I don't think Grans even make a "klasse F" beer any more. |

6431 | Zeunerts Werde | Sweden | Pale Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget). Pale golden colour, decent head. Fruity sweet aroma, notes of grass too. Flavour is unremarkable, but there’s a distinct bitterness of not-too-good hops in the finish and aftertaste. |

6432 | Panil Barriquée Settembre | Italy | Fruit Beer | 2.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 Bottle, RBESG 2006. Hazy brownish amber colour. Made with 5% grape juice (and fermented with wine yeast?) Vinegary aroma with strange notes of horsepiss and rotting garbage. Woody and funky flavour where the grape juice barely shines through, without the necessary freshness. If I want a sour beer, I’d rather have a gueuze, thank you. |

6434 | Tou Juleøl (klasse D) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Copper coloured Christmas beer, brewed for the Norwegian grocery store market when the traditional "klasse F" Christmas beers could be sold only through the government owned Vinmonopolet stores. This beer is an example of the fact that the Juleøl style NEEDS an ABV of 6,2% - 7% to be decent. The beer looks good, but that's all. Bland metallic flavour, just a hint of caramel. It's stunning how little taste they have managed to put into this beer. Low score in all Xmas beer ratings in Norwegian newspapers - well deserved. BTW, like (nearly) all Norwegians, I believed that Norwegian Juleøl was a style in its own right - I actually learned from RateBeer that they could be classified as Vienna. (I don't know if people living in Vienna would agree.) Fortunately, the best "klasse F" beers are a lot better than this. |

6436 | Lausitzer Schwarzes Porter | Germany | Porter | 2.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 March 2013: 500 ml bottle, probably from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 4.4%. Dark brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Sweetish aroma of malt sugar and unfermented wort, also notes of bread and dust. Very sweet, sugary and malty flavour, reminiscent of a Danish dark "hvidtøl", but despite the sweetness, the mouthfeel is fairly thin. No hops detected. Not awful, though - just not something I’ll buy again. |

Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 3 440 ml can, from Joker Vatlandsvåg. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy straw colour, large to moderate white head. Sickly bad smell of stale jam and vomit. The flavour is better, citric and wheaty notes with a hint of cloves, but the smell ruins it all. |

6439 | Azvex Strategic Reserve | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 2.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 13%. Pitch black colour, moderate and creamy tan head. Intense aroma of maple syrup, vanilla, caramel and doughnuts. Extremely sweet and cloying flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Drinkable only in small portions - the can should be shared between minimum 4 persons, none of them should have diabetes. Oh Holy Mother of God! |

Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Malty aroma, notes of wort and grain. The flavour is slightly more dry than sweet, again malty and grainy, just a little hops in the finish. No masterpiece this one. |

6450 | Steinlager | New Zealand | Pale Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, London. Pale golden sparkling beer, poor head. Moderate hops and grass in the aroma. A tolerable amount of hops in the flavour makes this beer A LITTLE better than the average swill lager. Won’t buy again, though. I you want a good NZ lager, look for Emersons in stead! |
