6001 Three Hearts Jul Svagdricka Sweden Reduced Alcohol 2.9

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4

500 ml bottle, bought in Sweden. ABV is 2.2%. Ingredients include saccharin. Deep copper to mahogany colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Moderate aroma of bakery and toast, fairly nice. The flavour is very malty with loads of caramel and saccharin sweetness, too sweet maybe (I think they should have skipped or reduced the saccharin), minimal hops, hints of Christmas spices. However, it is rather nice to drink a low alcohol beer that is not flavourless and watery.

6002 Egge Gård Liersider Norway Cider 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

750 ml clear "champagne" bottle, made of Aroma apples, vintage 2008. Bottle No. 124, bought at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 11%. Golden colour, pours very fizzy with a huge white head that lasts longer than normal for a cider. Aroma of oxidised eating apples (which indeed the Aroma apple variety is), hints of sulphur. The flavour is more tart than I expected, especially in the finish. Oxidised apples again with hints of sulphur, medium sweetness.

6003 Vestfyen Malt Øl Denmark Reduced Alcohol 2.9

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5

330 ml bottle, from Superbrugsen, Skødstrup. ABV is 1.8%. Ingredients include glucose syryp and colour (E 150c). Very dark brown to ruby colour, big and creamy tan head. Sweetish aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread and syrup. The flavour is very malty, very sweet, with loads of caramel and syrup - but amazingly pleasant to drink. Hardly any bitterness. A flavourful beer with minimal alcohol, in the Danish "mørkt hvidtøl" tradition - a nice "change of pace"-beer when you have to drive afterwards.

6004 Lucifer (Vintages through 2008) Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

330 ml bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8%, brewed by Het Anker. Very pale yellow colour, hazy in the end, huge white head. The aroma has notes of "Green Apples Shampoo", Belgian ale yeast and spices. The flavour is fairly refreshing for its strength and moderately spicy, notes of green apples again, also notes of white candi sugar and artificial candy, unpleasant soapy aftertaste. Overall disappointing.

6005 Erdinger Weissbier Leicht Germany Hefeweizen 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

On tap, or possibly poured from bottle, at the Erdinger brewery. ABV is 2.9%. Aroma and flavour much like the "ordinary" Erdinger Weissbier, only lighter in character in all aspects. Surprisingly decent for such a light beer, much better than the Erdinger Alkoholfrei.

6006 Det Lille Bryggeri Birkebeinerpilsen Norway Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 2.8

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

330 ml bottle, at Østkantfolk, Oslo. ABV was 4.7%. Golden colour, low head. Very pleasant aroma of European hops, notes of heather. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Standard pilsener flavour, nothing wrong with it, nothing very special. Maybe a hint of birch sap and honey. More bitterness and less carbonation would be desirable.

6007 Rise Premium India Pale Ale Økologisk Denmark English Pale Ale 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.5%. Organic, ingredients include sugar and ascorbic acid (E300 - vitamin C). Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Brewed with English ale yeast. Weak aroma of floral hops, some "dusty" notes too. The flavour is first fairly sweet and malty, with a "dusty" finish. Some metallic hops in the aftertaste, with notes of wet cardboard to boot. Ridiculously poorly hopped for something going under the name of "IPA". Would not be a great beer, whatever name they had chosen. Nope, this is simply not good enough.

Bottle, ABV 13%, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Golden colour, no carbonation. Nice aroma of honey with hints of spices, but there are also strong notes of alcohol. Very sweet flavour of honey and alcohol, also notes of oxidised fruit wine.

6009 ’t Hofbrouwerijke Hof Korvatunturi Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Bottle, as Hof Korvatunturi Old Ale, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Cloudy orange colour, low head. Strange aroma, some Belgian yeast, hard to classify. Fairly sweet flavour, some fruit, hints of tobacco, some mint and tea.

6010 Hofbräu München Weisse Leicht Germany Hefeweizen 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Bottle, ABV 3.2%, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Hazy golden colour, big to moderate head. Pleasant aroma of cloves and banana. Thin body. The flavour has some citrus and cloves. Refreshing, but boring for a Hefe-Weissbier.

6011 Williams Brothers Ceilidh Premium Scottish Lager United Kingdom Pale Lager 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

500 ml bottle, bought at Vaaland Spesialbutikken, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Pale yellow colour, big to moderate white head. Sweetish aroma, notes of flowers, some fruit and candy. The flavour is too sweet for a pale lager, notes of candy and malt sugar, hints of honey. Not "crisp" at all, and not very citrussy. A very moderate bitterness in the finish, where the sweetness is still present. Williams Brothers make many interesting beers, this is not one of them.

6012 Samuel Smith Organic Lager United Kingdom Lager 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

550 ml bottle, at Café Luna, Aalborg. ABV was 5%. Golden colour, big to moderate white head. Moderate aroma of flowery and grassy hops. Allegedly "a touch hoppier than many lagers", I still find the flavour rather bland and boring. More malts than hops though. At least there are no offensive side flavours.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also bought at Vaaland Spesialbutikken, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Golden colour, moderate head. Moderate aroma of pilsener malts, hints of honey. Soft and fairly "neutral" flavour with a very moderate malty sweetness. "Dusty" English hops in the finish. Nothing wrong with it, but boring.

6014 Comte Louis de Lauriston Poiré France Cider 2.8

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Poiré / perry (pear cider) at 4.8% ABV from Comte Louis de Lauriston, 61700 Domfront, France - a cidery more famous for their calvados. Christian Drouin is not mentioned on the label, but I assume they are the distributors. 750 ml dark green "champagne" bottle, bought at Vinmonopolet, Norway. Very pale greenish yellow colour with just a slight haziness. Pours moderately fizzy, head disappears instantly. Some carbonation remains in the glass, maybe too much. Pleasant aroma of ripe pears, hints of wood and herbs, maybe also a hint of sulphur. Flavour of pears and herbs, fairly dry. Hints of wood and sulphites in the finish.

6015 Gourmetbryggeriet Blanche Denmark Witbier 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.0%. Crystal clear extremely pale straw colour, moderate white head. Fairly decent aroma of fruity (yes, apricots) and floral hops. The flavour is clean, crisp and refreshing with a moderate sweetness, but the hops are too moderate. The name "Blanche" makes you expect a witbier / bière blanche, but this is just another pilsener - not a bad one, but far from exciting.

6016 BrewDog Nanny State (0.5%) United Kingdom Reduced Alcohol 2.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4

330 ml bottle, from the n/a selection of Vinmonopolet. ABV is 0.5%. Amber colour, big head, slightly off-white. Lovely aroma of fruity and piney American hops. Thin moutheel. The flavour is all American hops throughout, with a very pronounced bitterness in the finish - 45 IBU sounds not shockingly high, but with a beer this thin, it is. The aftertaste is too bitter and medicinal.

6017 Voll-Damm (Doble Malta) Spain Marzen / Oktoberfest 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

330 ml can, bought in Spain. ABV is 7.2%. Golden colour, large white head. Decent floral aroma, hints of malts and some fruit. Low carbonation in the mouth. The flavour is sweet, malty and alcoholic, hints of honey, some bitterness in the finish. Too sweet for me, really, but not undrinkable. I drank it at cellar temperature, possibly slightly better if colder.

330 ml bottle, kindly shared by our beerpal Olav. ABV 9.6%. Golden colour, low white head. Herbal aroma, a hint of caramel and alcohol. Rather sweet flavour, some caramel and alcohol, really not my cup of tea.

6019 Fejø Cider Demi-sec/halvtør Denmark Cider 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

375 ml green "champagne" bottle, vintage 2010, from Vinmonopolet. Organic. ABV is 4.7%. A dead insect under the cork, charming ... Yellow colour, slightly hazy, pours very fizzy with a large white head that soon disappears completely. Unfresh aroma of stale cider apples, notes of oak, hints of ammonium and alcohol. The flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, notes of oxidied and stale cider apples and sweet eating apples - drinkable, but not as crisp and fresh as I hoped. Won’t buy again.

6020 St. Peter's The Saints Whisky Beer United Kingdom Scottish Ale 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

500 ml dark green oval bottle, as St. Peter’s The Saints Whisky Beer, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, low white head. Strong aroma of peat smoke / peated whisky. Medium dry flavour, strong notes of peat smoke / peated whisky and ashes. Too peaty for my taste - if they wanted to add English single malt whisky to the beer (which indeed they did), they should have reduced the amount of peat smoked malts. "Superb balance"? Not at all! The flavour is pretty close to licking an ashtray.

6021 Panther Stout Indonesia Dry Stout 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Bottle, as Panther Fine Extra Stout, in Bali. ABV is 5%. Very dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Moderate aroma of brown malts more than dark malts, notes of mild coffee and caramel, a hint of dark fruits. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately malty with only a very moderate roastiness, notes of mild coffee again, a hint of caramel, low bitterness. Has very little to brag about. This is a weak porter more than an "extra stout".

6022 El Diablo Strong Brew Indonesia Lager 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

500 ml can, from a Bali supermarket. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, large white head. Typical industrial lager aroma, some sweetish candy notes, also strong grassy notes, hints of alcohol. The flavour is medium sweetish with tolerable malts, smooth and easy to drink. The hops are very moderate, but there are no offensive side flavours in this beer, and it is actually better than I feared.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

750 ml green bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 11%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, small off-white head. Strong aroma of red wine vinegar and oak. Sweet and sour flavour, loads of red wine vinegar, also oak. Too sweet and sour for me. Not my cup of tea at all. Waste of money.

355 ml bottle, from Fakta Hirtshals. BB date is hard to read, but is possibly Febr. 2014. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy. Low white head. Yeasty aroma, notes of slightly stale jam / marmalade. The flavour is moderately spicy and herbal with hints of citrus. Dry finish.

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Shared 500 ml gusher bottle at local tasting. Nearly black colour, large off-white head. Dryish and "thin" smokey aroma, notes of smoked meat, woody hints too. Too much carbonation. Smokey and dry flavour too, mild roasty notes in the background.
