5676 | Thor Fregatten Jylland | Denmark | Strong Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 This beer is named after the Danish 19th century sail frigate "Jylland", now a Jutlandian tourist attraction. The beer, however, will hardly qualify as a tourist attraction. Golden to amber colour, moderate alcoholic aroma, alcoholic and slightly sweet flavour, moderate to low bitterness in the aftertaste. Not unpleasant, but far from great. |

5677 | Albani Odense Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 An average+ Danish pilsener. Nice summer beer. Nothing spectacular though. While Bryggerigruppen's beers are losing more and more of their local identity, the people of the island of Fyn (Funen) stick to their Albani Odense beers. Available elsewhere in Denmark too. |

5678 | Thisted Thy Julebryg | Denmark | Bock | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Pale golden like a pils, smells like a pils with some more alcohol (which indeed this beer has!), tastes like a very strong pils. As such this beer is not bad, but I guess you have to be Danish to figure how anyone would choose to drink this stuff for Christmas (and even name it a "Christmas Brew"). Alcohol is not everything, for Christmas I want darker malts than they have used here! This beer must be a distant relative of Carlsberg's Elephant. Save it for a cool summer's night. |

5679 | Kronenbourg | France | Pale Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Average French lager - easily drinkable, but Kronenbourg 1664 is better. Light bodied, nothing offensive, nothing remarkable. This has for decades been the standard pale lager you get on tap everywhere in France, but 1664 seems to taking over more and more, esp. internationally. |

5680 | Tennents Extra | United Kingdom | Pale Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Bottle, bought in Norway at Vinmonopolet. Pale lager. Simply called "Tennent's" here, but the ABV (5%) tells me it's not the British standard Tennent's Lager, so it must be the Extra. An ordinary lager, easily drinkable without too much of anything. However, I won't buy it again of two reasons: a) In Norway, the price is twice that of domestic lagers / pilsener, while the beer isn't that much better (well, it's 0,3 - 0,5% stronger). b): When in Scotland, I will most certainly prefer a good Scottish ale to any lager! |

5681 | Svyturys Ekstra | Lithuania | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway. Golden colour, large foamy head. Strong perfumed aroma of shampoo, flowers, molasses and green apples, not entirely pleasant. Flavour is grassy with lemon notes, some sweetness. Low bitterness. Drinkable, but no masterpiece. |

5682 | Tyskie Gronie | Poland | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, had this served unexpectedly at the quayside somewhere in the Ryfylke fjords (it’s not imported to Norway, as far as I know). As it was for free, I couldn’t object to having to drink it from the can, which means I can’t really evaluate the appearance (I trust those who say it’s average or slightly above). Aroma of Saaz and possibly Hallertau hops. Clean tasting refreshing pilsener, nothing offensive, nothing remarkable. I’d be happy to drink it again, if it’s for free - but would like a glass the next time! |

5683 | Chernigivske Bile Nefiltrovane | Ukraine | Witbier | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, bought in Denmark. Cloudy golden colour, fizzy. Frothing initially large head that subsides quickly. Decent wheat aroma with citrus and coriander. Flavour has not much going for it, not offensive but not great either. Some citrus and coriander, but not much. Fairly bland. Mouthfeel remains fizzy throughout. Not much aftertaste either. An OKish thirstquencher, but not a beer to search out. |

5685 | Stone 04.04.04 Vertical Epic Ale | United States | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. Strong aroma, verging on the unpleasant, with notes of oak, brown sugar, lime and molasses. Flavour is oaky, alcoholic and too sweet, with notes of lime and lemongrass in the background. Not a love affair for me this one. |

5686 | Carmen | Spain | Blonde Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from Carrefour, Cartagena. ABV is 4.8%. Cloudy golden to brown colour, low white head. The sweetish aroma has notes of ripe and over-ripe fruits and berries, hints of farmhouse homebrew. Spritzy carbonation in the mouth. Medium sweet flavour with fruity notes and moderate hops, again hints of traditional homebrew. Not great, but could have been worse. |

5689 | Max Ivan Eidskog Øl’n | Norway | Kellerbier | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from Vika Mat, Oslo. ABV is 4.7%. Organic. Some sediment in the bottle. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. "Skunky", grassy and citrussy aroma. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel. The flavour is citrussy, grassy and quite refreshing, with some rougher woody notes of traditional homebrew. Not quite like any other beer from Atna Øl, so I take it that this is an original recipe. |

5690 | Hornbeer Framboise | Denmark | Fruit Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, + sample at Ølmessen Nærbø. ABV is 5.5%. Pink colour, pours fizzy with a moderate to low pinkish-white head, which disappears completely after a while. Aroma of both sourish and over-ripe raspberries, hints of solvent. Sour flavour, notes of sour raspberries, hints of lemons, minimal hops. Sourish-fruity aftertaste. |

5691 | Schwaben Bräu Das Helle | Germany | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml swingtop bottle, bought in Spain. ABV is 5.0%. Very pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of "dusty" malts and grassy and slightly herbal hops. Light bodied and refreshing, soft mouthfeel. The flavour has a subtle presence of pilsener malts and German noble hops - nothing spectacular, but nice enough to drink. No offensive off-flavours. |

5692 | Dahls Julebrygg | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.5%. Copper coloured beer, moderate off-white head. The aroma has some caramel and toffee. Light bodied. The flavour has caramel (with being overly sweet), a hint of spices and a dusty finish. Drinkable, but not remarkable. |

5693 | Egge Gård Liersider Stille | Norway | Cider | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 750 ml clear corked bottle. Bottle No.3685, made of the Aroma apple variety 2010. A little sediment in the bottle. This is supposed to be a still cider, but it pours fizzy with a white head - so they have either mislabelled the bottle, or an unintended secondary fermentation has taken place in the bottle. ABV is 7%. Clear and very pale yellow colour. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. Moderate dryish aroma of apples. Fairly dry and crisp flavour, despite being made of sweet eating apples. Pleasant enough to drink, but no real depth or character. |

5694 | LoverBeer BeerBrugna | Italy | Wild Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 375 ml green bottle, vintage 2010, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 6.2%. Hazy orange to brown colour, very low off-white head. Strong sourish & sweetish aroma with notes of plums, wine vinegar and peaches, also hints of horse stable, oak and farmhouse kitchen. Sweet & sour flavour, notes of peaches, vinegar and oak again. Minimal bitterness, dry finish. Not really my cup of tea. |

5695 | St. Peter's Suffolk Smokey | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml oval green bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of peat smoke / peated malts. The flavour is also dominated by peat smoke and ashes, with just a hint of fruity hops in the background, dry finish. Okay, but one bottle is enough. |

5697 | Little Valley Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Rerate, 500 ml bottle, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.0%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and ginger. The flavour is moderately malty but not sweet, with distinct notes of ginger, also fairly distinct bittering hops. And it is NOT very sour / infected! Ginger warmth in the aftertaste / throatfeel. I'm upping the score quite a bit. Original rating: 500 ml bottle (a gift), as Little Valley Organic Bottle Conditioned Ginger Pale Ale. And yes, it is "fairtrade" and vegan - and "CAMRA says this is real ale". My oh my - you don’t even have to drink it. BUYING it is apparently enough to ensure your passage through the pearly gates. ABV is 4.0%. "Best before" February 2010 - that might explain a lot. Cloudy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Strong aroma of ginger, sweetish fruity and sugary notes. The flavour is really sour, lemony and acidic from the first to the last sip (yes, I mean really SOUR - probably far more than intended by the brewer), with a moderate ginger burn. Dryish finish. Probably infected - certainly not something I would pay good money for. But I am a polite fellow - somehow I managed to finish the bottle. |

5698 | Craigmill Strathaven Ginger Jock Alcoholic Ginger Beer | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of ginger, malts, toffee and citrus marmalade. Light bodied, too much carbonation in the mouth. The flavour has distinct notes of ginger with a citrussy finish, and is otherwise quite dry. A moderate ginger burn in the aftertaste. Okay as a refreshment, but really not much to write home about. |

5699 | Einstök Icelandic White Ale | Iceland | Witbier | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from the taxfree store at Billund Airport, Denmark. ABV is 5.2%, 12.8% Plato. Practically clear and very pale yellow colour, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of grassy and herbal German or Czech pilsener hops, no sign of this being a witbier. Dry and crisp flavour, now with citrussy notes (lemon/lime rather than orange peel), but still not much witbier character. Refreshing though - my rating is, as always, hedonistic - if I rated by style, the score would be lower. |
