5426 | Salamander Lindøy Blonde Ale | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Salamander Lindøy Blonde Ale, batch #064, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Slowly gushing bottle. The glass fills completely by white foam, a pale golden beer appears underneath only very slowly, takes a long time to settle. Aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, damp basement, dust and citric hops. Fizzy and citric mouthfeel. Distinct flavour of Lemondrop hops, but the bitterness is too low. |

5431 | Lervig / Amundsen From Norway With Love (Rackhouse series) | Norway | Imperial Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 375 ml gold waxed bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 13.3%. Pitch black colour, small brown head disappears instantly. Aroma of salted peanuts, hints of roast malts, caramel, molasses, vanilla and bourbon. Minimal carbonation, sticky mouthfeel. Very sweet flavour (way too sweet), with the same elements as the aroma. Would not buy again. |

5432 | Moersleutel Willy Tonka - Tonka & Chocolate 2 | Netherlands | Imperial Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Small sample from 440 ml can at Cardinal, Stavanger (I hope this is the right edition). Black colour, small tan head. A violent and overly sweet attack on the nose and tastebuds from sugar, tonka beans, cocoa and spices. But the guys at "Mandag i Annen" liked it, so who I am I to disagree (even if I claim to hate tonka beans in general)? Well, it is not bad in small portions. |

5433 | Hunter’s Devon Maid Lager | United Kingdom | Pale Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Hunter's Devon Maid Lager, from Gulating ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.4%. Almost clear golden colour, hazy when the yeast is poured in the end, large white head. Sweetish malty aroma, also notes of newmown grass and herbal hops, a hint of honey. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, fairly bitter finish. |

5435 | Ægir Märzen Amber Lager | Norway | Marzen / Oktoberfest | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 440 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Copper to amber colour, small and shortlived white head. Aroma of bread, caramel and raisins. Flavour of malts and bread, hints of caramel, but not very sweet. Moderate herbal hops, a little more would not hurt. A traditional Märzen should pack an ABV between 5.1% and 6.0%, 4.7% is just too modest. |

Moderate aroma of sweetish malts and fruity American hops, a hint of marmalade,a whiff of diacetyl. Fizzy mouthfeel. 5440 | Zeunerts Höga Kusten | Sweden | Altbier | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 (500 ml bottle, in Sweden). Allegedly a combination of lager and altbier (50/50?). The lager is the winner. Light golden brown colour. Malty aroma with hints of new-mown hay. Malty flavour with a not-too-pleasant bitterness. Drinkable, not outstanding. I'd prefer a pure altbier! |

5441 | Baatbryggeriet Styrbord | Norway | English Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Clear golden colour. Tolerable hops aroma, hints of elderflowers. Also some strange hints of ammonium cleaning fluid in the background. Flavour is kind of lagerlike. I probably drank it too warm, though. Fairly dry mouthfeel. A drinkable beer, but no masterpiece this one. |

5442 | Berentsens Jubileumsøl | Norway | Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle. Deep golden colour, moderate head. Moderate aroma of hops and caramel. Flavour has some toffee and and a hoppy bitter finish, drinkable but not that interesting. Hope they brew something better for their next "jubilee"! (Berentsens are new as a brewery, they have produced industrial "ciders" for 10 years or so, and soft drinks for 110 years.) |

5444 | Litovel Classic | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, good head. Very moderate aroma, some flowery Saazer hops. Moderate hops on a tolerably malty background in the flavour, nothing remarkable but I can’t detect any off-flavours either. A drinkable pils, not the best from the Czech Rep. but not horrible either. |

5445 | Nordmørsbrygg Bacalaoøl | Norway | Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 This beer was originally brewed by Nordmørsbrygg in Kristiansund (Norway's "bacalao capital"), but they had problems keeping a consistent quality, and the beer is now contract brewed by Trio Bryggeri in Skien. Colour is deep golden, good head. Sweet fruity (pear-like) aroma. Flavour is quite malty for a pale lager, unfortunately with some of the "boiledness" which seems to be a trademark of Trio Bryggeri. Drinkable, but not much more. |

5447 | Sapporo Premium Draft | Japan | Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as "Sapporo Premium Lager", brewed "under license in the EU". Ingredients are water, malts, hops and hop extract - no maize (corn) or rice here. Different recipe? Bought in Norway at Ultra. ABV here is 4.7%, to comply with our 4.75% upper limit for beers sold in grocery stores. Pale golden colour, large head. Flowery sweet aroma, not unpleasant. Flavour is surprisingly clean tasting, no sign of adjuncts and off-flavours, tolerable hops. Well, it’s a light bodied pale lager - I don’t expect miracles, but it sure was a lot better than I feared. |

5449 | Berliner Kindl Weisse | Germany | Berliner Weisse | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. ABV is 2.7%. I had no raspberry syrup available, so I drank it straight. Extremely pale straw coloured, nearly clear, just a very slight haziness. Enormous to moderate head. Unusual funky aroma - sea water / seaweed, notes of barnyard, horseblanket and rotting citrus. Very sour / acidic flavour, but not as extreme as I expected. Lemony notes. Light bodied, watery mouthfeel despite the acidity. Refreshing, but I find very little complexity here. Moderate lemony aftertaste. |

5450 | Föroya Bjór Portari | Faroe Islands | Baltic Porter | 3.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. My first Faroese beer. Closest style for this bottom fermented beer would be Baltic Porter, but it's a rather poor example of the style. Deep reddish brown colour, large light tan head. Very moderate aroma, some lightly roasted malts, hints of plums. One-dimensional flavour of roasted malts and coffee with a strange sourish and slightly metallic finish. Coffee and sourish metal (does that make sense? - battery acid?) in the aftertaste too. Weird. No masterpiece this one, but they have been trying. |
