Sweet boozy flavour, molasses, fusel, caramel, noticeable bittering hops. Unrefined, far from Trappist quality.

August 2019: 500 ml bottle, from SPAR Ålbæk. ABV is 6.6%. Hazy reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla and cardamom. Malty flavour, but still light bodied for its strength. Spicy, but not very sweet. Notes of burnt caramel and cardamom, minimal vanilla, fairly distinct bittering hops.

March 2013: 330 ml test bottle from the importer. ABV is 4.8%. Cloudy golden colour, large white head. Medium strong and sweetish aroma of over-ripe bananas and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, notes of cloves and some banana again, but lacks the touch of citrussy freshness that other hefeweizens have. Still very drinkable.

473 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Madla. ABV is 5.9%. Deep red colour, moderate to small pink head. Distinct aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries, also lactic acid. Medium sour flavour of raspberries and lactic acid, not too sweet, low bitterness.

440 ml can, as Disko St. Ruby Barrel Aged Quadrupel, from Vinmonopolet Madla. ABV is 11%. Cloudy brown colour, moderate to small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, solvent, fusel, alcohol, brown sugar. The flavour is not quite as sweet as I feared, and somewhat better balanced than the aroma. Notes of brown sugar, oak, dark dried fruits and caramel, hints of mild spices. Low bitterness.

October 2019: 330 ml can, as Disko Brutus Bayer, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 25. Reddish brown colour, enormous beige head that lasts "forever", takes quite a while before I reach the beer underneath. Aroma of malts, brown bread and caramel. Malty flavour too, brown bread and caramel again. Fair enough.

440 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 0.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, small white head. Aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, some citrus and spruce too. Light bodied as expected. Citric flavour, notes of tropical fruits too, hints of pine needles, dry finish, low bitterness. Definitely one of the better n/a beers I've had.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10%. Black colour, small and shortlived tan head. Aroma of almonds, marzipan, tonka beans, chocolate and vanilla. Warming mouthfeel. Cloying sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also lactose and dates. I hate tonka beans, this would have been a better beer without them.

375 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%, hops are Magnum and EKG. Moderately hazy deep reddish brown colour, small and thin off-white head. Aroma of malts, molasses, fusel, red berries, oak and bourbon. Soft and warming mouthfeel. Sweet and boozy flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, the notes of molasses, oak and bourbon are quite distinct.

Citric flavour, not too sweet, moderate notes of tropical fruits, a slightly medicinal bitterness in the finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted and smoked malts, hints of chocolate. Smoked malts dominate the flavour, not too sweet.

700 ml "champagne" bottle, as Sidra Zarracina, in Spain. ABV 4.1%. Pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a short-lived white head. Moderate aroma of cider apples and eating apples, notes of sulphites. Medium sweet flavour of eating apples, hints of sulphites. Light bodied.
