330 ml bottle, a gift from Holmen2, many thanks! ABV is 5.0%. Hop is East Kent Goldings. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma of earthy and herbal hops, some sweetish malts in the background. Smooth and pleasant mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Medium dry and crisp flavour, distinct and pleasant earthy hops on a sufficient backbone of malts, the finish has a slight residual sweetness and a fruity hint of yellow plums.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8%. Very cloudy / opaque orange colour, large to moderate off-white head with an orangey hue. Intense aroma of tangerine, and nothing else. Sweet flavour of tangerine juice, and tangerine zest. Nothing here to remind you that this is a beer.

March 2013: 250 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 3.5%. Dark red colour, moderate pink head. Intense aroma of blackcurrant juice. Intensely sweet and sour flavour, with loads of sweetened blackcurrant juice. A beer to be had with a fruit dessert, perhaps. You really have to be partial to blackcurrants to drink more than one bottle. I know some people like to mix this in a porter. I haven’t tried that, but it might work.

330 ml can, No. 11735 / 13000, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9%. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of bourbon and oak, notes of fusel alcohols. Sharpish oaky flavour, notes of bourbon, hints of fusel. Not entirely successful.

Nov. 2019: 330 ml can, from Helgø Meny Tasta Senter. ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of spruce, citrus and tropical fruits. Light bodied. Dry flavour, notes of resinous hops, grapefruit and hints of tropical fruits. Oct. 2022: 330 ml can, 2022, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hop varieties are not mentioned on the can. Dirty yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Distinct aroma of yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits. Fizzy, citric and thin mouthfeel. Citric and slightly spicy flavour, one-dimensional.

440 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Clear and very pale golden colour, small white head. Nice aroma of lime, and citric, grassy and spicy hops. Refreshing flavour, distinct notes of lime, moderate citric and spicy hops. Light bodied, low bitterness. Would have been great on a warm summer's day, still enjoyable on a cold November evening.

March 2020: 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.8%. Orange to amber colour, slightly hazy. Small white head. Aroma of malts and caramel, hints of over-ripe berries. Malty flavour too, again with notes of caramel and hints of over-ripe berries. Medium sweet. A little more hop bitterness would not hurt. Dec. 2022: A bit richer mouthfeel comes with the increased ABV, slightly more bitter, otherwise much the same.

330 ml bottle, vintage 2022, batch #2648, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%, IBU 30. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, piney and spicy hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, notes of distinct grapefruity and resinous bittering hops.

500 ml bottle, batch #2581, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.5%, IBU 30. Moderately hazy brown to red colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of beech-smoked malts, over-ripe dark berries, raisins, smoked salmon and smoked meat. Light bodied for its strength. Smoky flavour with the same elements as the aroma, but not extreme.

Beer No. 3 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Copper coloured beer, white head. Malty aroma and flavour first, nutty and caramel notes, then a fairly solid bitterness in the finish. A decent steam beer / Cal Common, probably more bitter than Anchor Steam.

330 ml bottle, as Leireken Bio Boekweit Blond / Sarrasin Blonde, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6%. Extremely pale straw colour, nothing amber about it at all (are you sure the Amber is the same as the Blond?). Moderate white head. Strong yeasty esters in the aroma, spicy notes. Citrussy, spicy and wheaty flavour, quite nice. Very refreshing, low bitterness.

700 ml "champagne" bottle, in Spain. ABV is 4.1%. Pale yellow colour, pours fizzy with a very short-lived white head. Aroma of cider apples, and sulphites, okay. Medium sweet flavour of cider apples and eating apples, hints of sulphites. Easy drinking.

Cask at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy brown colour, low off-white head. Low carbonation. Moderate but nice aroma of herbal hops, hint of toffee. Flavour of caramel, syrup and resinous hops, very bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, from MENY Hillevåg. ABV is 4.7%. Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, big white head. Strong sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and new-mown grass. Refreshing flavour, strong notes of grassy hops, but the bitterness is moderate.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, big tan head. Both the aroma and flavour have notes of dry malts, woodwork and coffee, hints of dark chocolate, ashes and dust. A mix of schwarzbier and stout, hm? Drinkable, but not particularly successful.

355 ml can, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Very dark brown to mahogany colour, thick beige head. Sweetish aroma of brown malts and caramel. Very sweet and malty flavour, notes of caramel, chocolate and some smoke. Should be drunk fairly cool, else the sweetness will feel cloying.

355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.9%. Not entirely black colour, rather very dark brown. Thick beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of dark bread, roasted malts and herbal German hops. The flavour is moderately roasty with just a modest sweetness, could be called medium dry. A slight acidity in the finish, more bittering hops would be desirable. Decent enough to drink, but not very exciting.

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8.0%. Amber to copper colour, slightly hazy, moderate off-white head. Sweetish aroma of malts, toffee and caramel, hints of fruit and oak, quite nice. Very sweet flavour, loads of caramel, hints of oak and dark fruits, moderate hops in the finish. Worth sampling, but not for daily indulgence.

Aroma of grassy hops, caramel and Christmas spices (cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, star anise). Sweet and malty flavour with plenty of caramel and Christmas spices. Could have been worse.

Cask (handpump) at the Darlington Spring Thing beer festival 2011. ABV is 3.7%. Golden colour, low head. Aroma of butterscotch and pale wort. The flavour is smooth with some grainy notes, tolerable New Zealand hops in the finish and aftertaste.
