Feb. 2015: Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. Clear pale golden first, cloudy with floaties in my glass (end of bottle). Moderate white head. Nice spicy and herbal aroma, "typical saison". Spicy and yeasty flavour, fairly well hopped.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Golden colour, large and creamy head. Fruity aroma and flavour, tolerable hop bitterness. A nice summer beer, does not carry a punch on a cold December evening.

Shared 330 ml can at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal. ABV is 4.7%. Brown colour, moderate white head. Moderate and mellow malty aroma and flavour, hints of fruity kveik. Pleasant to drink, but not particularly exciting.

February 2021: 330 ml bottle, batch #146, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 9%. Nearly black colour, huge beige to tan head. Aroma of moderately roasted malts, chocolate, oatmeal / porridge, mild coffee and prunes. The flavour has a fairly distinct fruity acidity, notes of plums and prunes, possibly from the kveik, not sure if this is intended. Otherwise the same elements as the aroma, low bitterness.

August 2017: 500 ml bottle conditioned, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, large white head. Nice malty aroma, hints of earthy hops, no sign of Citra and tropical fruits. Comes through a bit more as the beer warms up a little. The fairly dry flavour is first malty, then some citrussy notes that helps the drinkability. No tropical fruits though. Okay.

30. October 2020: 330 ml bottle, batch #125, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Very dark brown colour, off-white to beige head. Moderate malty aroma, hints of caramel and roasted nuts. The flavour has the same elements, also notes of coffee, brittle and bittering hops. Not too sweet. Hardly a bock with its 4.7%, but decent enough to drink.

330 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Clear and deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, dark fruits and berries. The flavour is malty but not too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, also yeasty notes, moderate hops.

500 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Hazy brown colour, large off-white head. Aroma of caramel / burnt sugar and orange marmalade. Flavour again of burnt sugar (too much?), bitter orange marmalade and grapefruit. Bitter finish and aftertaste.

750 ml clear bottle, 2023 vintage, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Crystal clear and very pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a large white head that does not last long. Aroma of apples, apple pie, humid cellar and sweat. Medium dry and crisp flavour of apples, a moderate fruity acidity, a hint of broth.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 10%. Opaque dark brown colour, moderate tan head. Strong aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries, chocolate and roast malts in the background. The flavour is sweet, but not as extreme as I feared. Distinct notes of raspnerries again, smooth chocolate in the background, minimal bitterness. Nice-ish, but hardly a beer I'll bother to buy again.

330 ml can, a gift. ABV is 5.5%, IBU 35. Brewed with 100% local malts from Jæren, and Nectaron hops. Pale golden colour, large white head. Aroma of sweetish malts, flowers and honey. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Malty flavour, moderate floral and herbal hops. Okay.

April 2021: 500 ml bottle, from Det Gode Brygg, Kvadrat. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 40. Nearly clear pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of lemons, grain and dust, only a hint of tropical fruits. Light bodied. Medium dry flavour with the same elements as the aroma, surprisingly moderate notes of tropical fruits. Fairly bitter finish.

330 ml can, from Birk Bryggeriutsalg, Klepp. ABV is 4.7%. Murky orange colour, small white head. Moderate aroma of melon, weak citrus and over-ripe tropical fruits. The flavour has more distinct citrus, hints of melon and tropical fruits. Reasonably bitter finish. Refreshing.

440 ml can, from Birk Bryggeriutsalg, Klepp. ABV is 4.2%, hops are Citra and Amarillo. Slightly hazy golden to brownish-orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of jam, caramel and dust. Smooth mouthfeel, fairly good for a beer of this low ABV. The flavour has notes of citrus, sufficient malts, with distinct and sharpish bittering hops in the aftertaste.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5%. Very pale golden colour, only the slightest haziness. Moderate to small white head. Moderate aroma of malts, flowers and honey. Crisp and refreshing flavour, slightly on the dry side (still with some residual sweetness), moderate but nice herbal hops.

750 ml dark brown bottle, vintage 2023, from the cidery. ABV is 6%. Golden to orange colour, slightly hazy. Pours sparkling with a moderate and shortlived white head. Aroma of apples, yellow plums and meadowsweet. Dry flavour of meadowsweet and apples, hints of yellow plums in the background.

440 ml can, as Amundsen Ink & Dagger Gluten Free Session IPA, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.2%. Slightly hazy and very pale straw colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of fruity hops, notes of citrus, pineapple and mango. Citric and thin mouthfeel. Medium dry flavour of citrus, hints of tropical fruits, tolerable bitterness. An okay summer refreshment, but the stronger version of Ink & Dagger is a better choice.

November 2021: 330 ml bottle, from SPAR Kinsarvik. ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, huge white head. Sweetish, fruity and floral aroma of pilsener malts, top fermenting yeast and floral and herbal hops, notes of honey and yellow plums. Refreshing flavour, some sweetness but not too much, decent floral and herbal hops throughout. A nice surprise!

April 2022: 500 ml bottle, batch #706, from Helgø Meny Bogafjell. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 19. Opaque dirty yellow colour when the yeast is poured in, small and shortlived white head. Moderate aroma of wort, hints of citrus and coriander seeds. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Refreshing flavour of citrus (orange peel, lemon peel and grapefruit), hints of coriander seeds, low bitterness. Sufficient malty backbone.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.2%. Hazy brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, some citrus and dark berries, yeast, pine and earthy hops. The flavour is fairly complex, malty and slightly yeasty with notes of caramel, also distinct citric, spicy, piney and earthy hops.

1 imperial pint can with gold foil top, as Volfas-Engelman Bohemijos Tamsusis, from EkoMarket Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Clear and beautiful reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is slightly sweet, again with notes of malts, caramel and brown bread, very moderate hops, as expected from the style.

(500 ml bottle, bought in Norway). Pours with a good lasting head, colour is black (= very dark brown to ruby). Very nice aroma of hayloft, some barnyard, molasses, dark syrup, coffee and German bakery. Flavour and aftertaste have interesting rich malty notes with some roastiness, but are unfortunately ruined by the invertsugar syrup which has been added to the brew. Must be another beer for "convalescents and nursing mothers".
