330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Pours very fizzy with a large white head. Moderate but pleasant and inviting aroma of fruity and floral American hops (Columbus, Amarillo and Challenger). Fizzy mouthfeel, not very creamy. Light bodied. Pleasant moderate flavour of American hops. Easy drinking, nice enough. Might be true to style (I don’t really know, I did not live in pre-prohibition America), but this can hardly be said to be Mikkeller’s most interesting and challenging beer (nor was it intended to be, probably).

June 2014: Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 6.0%. Reddish dark amber colour. Aroma of Christmas spices, malts and spruce - but unfortunately also a hint of vomit. Strong and medium sweet flavour of Christmas spices and spruce - some may find it "over the top", but I like it. A little more hops wouldn’t hurt though.

Rerate, 440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Very dark brown colour, moderate and creamy beige head. Sweetish aroma of malts, caramel, burnt toast and chocolate / cocoa. Sweet flavour with the same elements, too sweet for me, unbalanced. Won't buy again. Original rating: On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malts and chocolate, quite sweet. I think I have a can of this one in my stash too, might re-rate.

330 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger.ABV is 4.7%, IBU 30. Black colour, moderate beige head. The aroma has notes of roast malts and citric hops, a hint of tropical fruits. Thin mouthfeel. Citric and moderately roasty dry flavour, medium bitter finish with hints of resin and coffee.

April 2013: 250 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, large white head. Pleasant and strong aroma of sea buckthorn, apple cider and brettanomyces, hints of oak. The flavour is fairly sour but not extreme, quite dry, notes of brett and sea buckthorn again, bitter aftertaste.

440 ml can, as Beer Hut Simcoe / El Dorado Pale Ale, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.5%. Moderately hazy pale yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus, hints of yellow stonefruits, a less pleasant hint of fart in the background. Light bodied as expected. Distinct citrus notes in the refreshing flavour, a moderate grapefruity bitterness in the finish.

440 ml can, from KWM Wine & Spirits, as Beer Hut Hi-Fi India Pale Ale. ABV is 6%. Hops are Citra, Columbus and Chinook. Hazy pale yellow colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, a hint of pine, a faint hint of broth. Fizzy mouthfeel. Citric flavour, hints of pine needles, moderately bitter finish.

440 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 6.3%. Moderately gushing can. Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma of tropical fruit nectar, hints of citrus, also a weird hint of broth, which seems to be common in beers from Northern Ireland - possibly due to poor water quality? Light bodied for its strength. Refreshing flavour, not very sweet, notes of citrus, hints of tropical fruits, a moderate grapefruity and earthy bitterness in the finish.

330 ml bottle, batch L84, from Vinmonopolet Sauda. ABV is 7.4%. Nearly black colour, moderate to small beige head. Aroma of malts, sourish black rye bread, a hint of liquorice. The flavour is also malty and moderately sweet, notes of chocolate, mild coffee, black bread and a hint of liquorice, moderate hops. Not bad.

355 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9%. Hazy golden to orange colour, large white head. Moderate aroma of tropical fruits, hints of pine and citrus. Fairly sweet flavour, maybe a bit too sweet. Notes of tropical fruits and pine, but lacks freshness. Medium bitter finish.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 5.6%. Very pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a small white head. Fairly fresh aroma of various apple varieties, a hint of sulphites. The flavour is much sweeter than expected from a "dry" cider, notes of dessert apples, short finish.

Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. ABV is 11.2%. Pitch black colour, minimal tan head. Roasty aroma, chocolate, coffee, a whiff of vomit which fortunately does not last. Hints of molasses and liquorice. Distinctly roasty flavour with notes of liquorice and roast malts, also coffee and dark chocolate. Good, but not brilliant.

Sweet flavour (too sweet, maybe), hints of pineapple, with a moderate but distinct grapefruity and resinous bitterness in the finish.

Flavour of roast malts, a moderate residual sweetness, hints of chocolate and liquorice, the finish lacks bitterness. Half-decent, not world class.

500 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.2%. Hops are Idaho-7, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic. Hazy pale yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus fruits. Light bodied as expected. Citrus fruits in the flavour too, not very sweet, low bitterness. Simple, but refreshing.

355 ml bottle, as Negra Modelo, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.4%. Clear copper to amber colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of caramel, treacle and brown bread. Smooth flavour, notes of malts, brown bread and caramel, sweet but not extreme, low bitterness. Pleasant to drink.

Keg pint at The Railway Bar, Sligo. Slightly hazy golden colour, creamy white head. Aroma and flavour of citrus, hints of tropical fruits and pine - but just too little of everything. Thin mouthfeel, otherwise there is nothing wrong with it - but there are just too many of these insipid "session IPAs" these days.

Shared bottle at Bryne tasting. Deep reddish brown colour. Sour(ish) and oaky aroma and flavour, notes of red wine vinegar. Okay, but not the best Flanders Red I've had.

Feb. 2016: 500 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 28.04.2014. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of grain and dust, a hint of fruit. Fairly refreshing flavour, lagerish with a slight citrussy fruitiness. Will rerate when I have a fresher bottle.
