4152 | Pinkus Special | Germany | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.1%. "Naturtrüb und ungefiltert". Like all Pinkus beers, it is organic. Pale golden colour, big and lasting white head. Moderate carbonation in the glass. Fairly unremarkable but not unpleasant sweetish aroma, hints of flowery hops and honey. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is delicate and tender, with a neat balance between the malts and hops. No "flavour bomb", but still much better than most of the industrial "fizzy and yellow" stuff. |

4153 | Orkney Northern Light | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big to moderate white head. Moderate aroma of fruity hops, hint of apricots. Light bodied and refreshing: The flavour has distinct fruity hops on a moderately sweet bakground of malts, ending in a well balanced resinous and grapefruity bitterness. A nice little summer ale this one. |

4155 | Copper Dragon Challenger IPA | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but pleasant fruity aroma of Challenger(?) hops, also notes of butterscotch and fudge, hints of candy. Light bodied, thin mouthfeel. The flavour belongs to a standard bitter (in a blind test I would probably have guessed that the ABV was closer to 4.0% than 4.8%), moderate malts and hops, slightly fruity - but the hops are certainly not plentiful enough to justify the label "IPA". The troops in India in Victorian times would probably not recognise this as an IPA - but the average bitter drinker in a modern English pub will probably be satisfied with this one as a "somewhat-stronger-than-average" session bitter. |

4156 | Isle of Skye Red Cuillin | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.4

Aroma of malts, English malt vinegar, fruits and silage. The flavour is malty but also very fruity, hints of berries and malt vinegar, "dusty" hops in the finish. Not really brilliant. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 4.8%. Pale straw colour, slightly hazy, huge to moderate white head. Moderate wheaty and citrussy aroma, with notes of coriander and orange peel, also a hint of liquorice (when you know it should be there). The flavour is moderately citrussy, with moderate notes of coriander. The liquorice is barely discernible in the flavour. Light bodied, not very sweet, with minimal hops. "Empty" finish, but an otherwise nice and refreshing beer. |

4161 | Severn Dry Sparkling Cider | United Kingdom | Cider | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.3%. Pours very fizzy with a moderate white head that soon disappears. Golden colour. Moderate aroma of cider apples and oak. The flavour is very dry and tart, astringent finish. Notes of cider apples of course, hints of oak. Noticeable acidity with a hint of lemons. I can imagine this cider would go well with a dish of fat fish (salmon, trout, mackerel etc.) - on its own it is nearly too astringent for me. |

4163 | Abbaye de St Landelin Mythique | France | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked bottle, bought at Systembolaget, Sweden. ABV is 7.5%. Clear very pale golden colour (like a continental pilsener), big and lasting white head. Very moderate aroma, some spicy, fruity (banana) and yeasty notes. Fizzy and peppery mouthfeel. The flavour is distinctly spicy / peppery, on a background of fruity sweetness. The ABV is not particularly well hidden. Okay beer, but I hoped for something even better. |

4166 | Valhalla Sjolmet Stout | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. All bottled beers from this brewery are filtered to remove all remaining yeast (but possibly not pasteurised?). Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Low beige head of poor retention. Nice aroma and flavour of roasted malts, notes of dark chocolate and mild coffee. Fairly dry, a slight acidity in the finish. A decent enough stout, but not so very special. |

4173 | Bavik Pilaarbijter Blonde | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, thanks to Beer2000. ABV is 7.5%. BB 07/12/09. The glass is first filled by a huge foamy white head, then a cloudy brownish golden beer slowly emerges. Strong sweetish aroma of Belgian ale yeast, over-ripe and rotting berries, artificial candy and fermenting fruits, verging on "sickly". The flavour is sweet (maybe too sweet), yeasty and spicy, some notes of decaying fruits again. A moderate spicy bitterness in the finish. |

The aroma has notes of wild forest cranberries (= lingonberries), redcurrants and red wine vinegar. The flavour is very crisp and dry, with some acidity. Nice enough, but I’d like a little more sweetness for a fuller mouthfeel. |
