3876 | Diabolici | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked bottle, new at Vinmonopolet, as Diabolici, "brewed in BeNeLux for Anthony Martin". Note that it is brewed FOR them, and not BY them, so who the actual brewers are, remains to be investigated. ABV is 8%. This is closer to a tripel, and definitely not a dubbel. Golden colour, huge white head. Moderately spicy aroma, maybe somewhat less sweetish than your average tripel. The flavour is distinctly spicy, with some kandij sugar and a little caramel, but not too sweet. The alcohol is noticeable, but not overwhelming. A quite decent Belgian, but isn’t the idea of another "diabolic" beer name a bit worn out now? |

3877 | 8 Wired The Sultan | New Zealand | Abbey Quadrupel | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.0%. Cloudy dark brown colour, moderate but lasting off-white head. Moderate aroma of sultanas, oaked fortified wine, rum-raisin and liqueur-filled chocolates. The flavour is oaky / woody with notes of sultanas / raisins and other dark dried fruits, but not nearly as sweet as I feared. The hops are very moderate. Nice and drinkable, but has not quite the complexity of best Belgian ales in the abt / quadrupel style. Still well worth sampling. |

3878 | Nøgne Ø Super Stuck Mash Pumpkin Ale | Norway | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger (only 1 keg available there, I’m afraid). Cloudy orange-brown colour, large and creamy beige head. Sweetish fruity and vegetal aroma (the pumpkins, I assume), also notes of piney American hops. Effervescent mouthfeel. The flavour is fruity with notes of pumpkins, but is not too sweet. Spicy notes too, decent American hops throughout. Very drinkable. |

3879 | Craigmill Strathaven Clydesdale IPA | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.8%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice aroma of butterscotch and toffee. Refreshing flavour, some malts, nutty and toffee notes, hints of butterscotch, very moderate hops in the finish, not too sweet. Certainly not an IPA by any stretch of the mind, but definitely drinkable., |

3880 | Matuška Weizenbock | Czech Republic | Weizenbock | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting, thanks to gunnar. ABV is 6.3%. The bottle had been open a while, but I’ll rate the beer as if it had a normal carbonation (which reports confirm it had when opened). Amber colour. Unusual spicy aroma, notes of coriander and banana. Spicy flavour, some banana. A fairly decent beer. Will rerate if I can find a fresh bottle. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked dark brownish-green "champagne" bottle, Cidre Dupont Reserve, Récolte 2010, Passage en fût 2011. Passé six mois en fût de calvados. ABV is 7.5%. From Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a large white head that soon disappears. Lovely aroma of cider apples, calvados and oak, hints of sulphites. Effervescent mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour of cider apples, oak and sulphites, the calvados is there in the background. Pretty good stuff. |

3883 | Unibroue Quelque Chose | Canada | Fruit Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Corked shared bottle at local tasting, bought at Ølbutikken (or was it Høkeren?), Copenhagen, may 2011. Sampled first cold, then hot. Auburn colour, no carbonation. Strong aroma of cherries, almonds, spices / spiced chutney and mulled wine. Sweet flavour, notes of cherries, spices and mulled wine. Better cold than hot. A pity there is no carbonation (bad idea). |

3888 | Røros Johannes Konstknekt | Norway | Kölsch | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, many thanks to Ole Richard. ABV is 4.7%. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. Fruity (citussy) and yeasty aroma, nearly wheatbeer-like. The flavour is also citrussy, yeasty and slightly spicy, in a blind test I might have guessed that it was a wheatbeer, not a Kölsch (well, the recipe also includes wheat). Very refreshing. I liked this one! |

3897 | Shock Top Belgian White | United States | Witbier | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Oakland Intl Airport. Pale straw colour, white head. Typical witbier aroma and flavour of coriander and citrus / orange peel. Very refreshing, would be happy to drink this again. I suspect that it is underrated due to the ownership of the brewery - I was not aware that this was an AB InBev product, so I rated the beer for what it is. |
