3828 | Avery The Maharaja Imperial IPA | United States | Imperial IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. OG 1090, ABV 10.41%. 102 IBU. Orange colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Strong sweetish aroma with notes of tropical fruits, citrus and pine, very nice. The flavour is sweet, alcoholic and dominated by an absurd amount of American hops from start to finish. Unbalanced. Another example of "overkill". |

3830 | Williams Brothers Ginger | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.8%. Brewed without any hops at all, but with substantial amounts of root ginger. Golden colour, pours quite fizzy, moderate to low head. Aroma of ginger and citrus. The flavour has a distinct ginger burn from start to finish. Definitely not your usual beer, but nice for a change of pace. Feels much stronger than its moderate ABV. |

3831 | De Dolle Arabier | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, and HaandBryggeriet who imports it to Norway. Deep golden colour, big to moderate head. Distinct hoppy aroma with floral notes. ABV is 8%. Alcohol is well hidden. The flavour has the characteristic sharp bitterness of Nugget hops from start to finish. After a few beers of the "well rounded" and "fruity and acidic" kind, this was just what I needed. More "American" than Belgian, perhaps. |

Moderate aroma of berries, toffee and dust. The flavour is fairly malty with some sweetness, notes of berries and maybe some toffee again, moderate hops in the finish, hints of resin and dust. Not a "shock" by any stretch of the mind, but decent enough. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at the brewpub. The brewer calls this an IPA, but it tastes more like a modern English Golden Ale or Bitter. 3840 | Copper Dragon Freddie Trueman Finest Yorkshire Ale | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Looks filtered, but I don’t know if it is pasteurised. ABV is 4.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head, good lacing. Moderate sweetish aroma of toffee, candy, some fruit and "dusty" English hops. Flavour of a standard English bitter - a slight fruitiness, highly drinkable, with decent hops in the finish, but not really very exciting. Must be worth sampling cask conditioned, though. |

Strong aroma of raspberry juice and raspberry jam. The flavour is sweet but still refreshing, with plenty of raspberry juice and just a hint of hops. I think they could with advantage have skipped the aspartame and artificial aromatics, though. |

"Dusty" aroma with notes of coffee, hints of chocolate. Moderately roasty flavour with notes of coffee and dark chocolate (which indeed are among the ingredients), not very sweet. 3846 | De Molen Rijn & Veen | Netherlands | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked and wired bottle, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorfsgate (spesialutvalget), Bergen. ABV is 5.1%, EBU is 19.4. Bittering hop Sladek, aroma hop Saaz. OG 1048, FG 1010. Pale golden colour, huge and lasting white head. The aroma is more spicy and less fruity than most German style wheats. Cloves galore, maybe coriander too? Hints of leather. Light bodied and refreshing. The flavour is dry, yeasty and spicy, maybe a hint of citrus and banana when you search for it, but less pronounced than in most hefeweizens. Very moderate hops in the finish. Nice enough. |

3848 | Breznak Tmave Vycepni Pivo | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as Březňák Schwarzbier, bought at Rewe Getränkemarkt, Erding. ABV is 3.8%. Ingredients include sweetener. Mahogany coloured beer, big off-white to beige head. Strong sweetish malty aroma, notes of bakery / brown bread, caramel and syrup. The flavour is malty and slightly roasty, but not as sweet as the aroma made me fear. Decent hops in the finish balance the flavour nicely. |

Has more going on than the "ordinary" Erdinger Hefe-Weissbier. |

3850 | Kinn Pilegrim | Norway | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml capped bottle, courtesy of the brewer. ABV is 4.7%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer appears only slowly. When the head eventually is low enough to make the beer drinkable from my tall glass, the remaining carbonation is very moderate. I think the refermentation in the bottle has gone a bit "bananas" here, seems not right for an English style bitter. Quite nice aroma of Fuggles and Centennial hops, notes of blackcurrants, hints of butterscotch and honey. The flavour has a decent hoppy character from the Fuggles and Centennial, and a bitterness of 35 IBU (mainly from the Target hops). The malts in the background seem just about right, with only a tad of honeyish sweetness from the pale crystal malts. |
