750 ml bottle, from Helgø Meny Stokka. ABV is 4.5%. Slightly hazy and very pale straw colour, huge white head. Very strong and distinct aroma of herbal hops and newmown grass, hints of yeast. Smooth mouthfeel. Distinct notes of herbal hops in the fairly dry flavour too. This is a well hopped pilsener indeed.

355 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.7%. Slightly hazy deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of citrus, hints of malts and pine. The flavour is quite malty, but also very bitter, with piney / resinous notes, also notes of bitter Seville oranges and grapefruit.

April 2019: 500 ml on tap, as Alexander Hefeweizen, at Oliver restaurant, Tallinn. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Classical hefeweizen notes of banana and cloves in both aroma and flavour, slightly sweet.

375 ml bottle, 2024 vintage, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7.1%. Murky yellow to orange colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, sour fruits, oak and scrumpy. Sour flavour, more of a gueuze than a saison IMO, notes of sour fruits (including lemon), lactic acid, oak and apple cider vinegar.

November 2021: 330 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Cloudy pale yellow colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of mango, lactose and vanilla. Flavour of citrus, mango and moderate vanilla, not too sweet. The lactose is very subdued. A slight hop bitterness in the finish. Nice and refreshing.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.0%. Moderately hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, also citrus. Light bodied. Citrus and tropical fruits in the flavour too, but not very sweet. Hints of pine needles. Moderate bitterness.

Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Served too cold. Black colour, moderate beige head. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of cold coffee, unsweetened cocoa and wood. Very dry roasty flavour, coffee notes. Some hops in the finish. Not very complex, but nice enough to drink.

500 ml clear bottle, from a Sainsbury Local in Whitton, London. ABV is 4.5%. Copper colour, large white head. Typical Shepherd Neame aroma of lightstruck hops, not unpleasant though. Also toffee notes. The flavour has also toffee notes, but is not very sweet. Hints of citrus. Moderate hops. Nice enough to drink.

Cask half pint at JDW, Victoria Station, London. ABV was 5.0%. Brewed at Shepherd Neame. Dark amber to brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma and flavour of toffee and caramel, but the beer is not very sweet. Very moderate bitterness, a bit disappointing for an "American" guest brew.

750 ml corked & caged green bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6%. Pale golden colour, large to moderate white head. Distinct sweetish aroma of spicy saison yeast, wheat (or more specifically spelt) malt and grassy hops. Also hints of old jam. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is medium sweet (not "very dry" at all) with the same elements as the aroma. Not bad, but a bit too much on the sweet side.

Rerate, 330 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.2%. Less sharp aroma this time, but pine needle extract dominates. The flavour seems also slightly less sharp, but is hoppy enough. Dry finish. Original rating: Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Cloudy orange colour, large head, slightly off-white. Sharp aroma of spruce, pine needle extract and solvent. Sharp hoppy flavour, mellowed by some rye "ripe berries" notes. Not in perfect balance.

330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 5.4%. Black colour, low beige head. Aroma of chocolate, bonfires and smoked meat - a weird combination. Easy drinking, smooth mouthfeel. The smoke is there, but does not dominate. Chocolate malt and some fruity tones, moderate hops. Nice enough.

500 ml bottle, as Allendale Black Grouse Oaked Porter, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4%. Malts are pale, amber, crystal, wheat, chocolate and cara. Hops are Target, Fuggles and Bramling Cross. IBU is 17. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate and mild coffee, hints of oak. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, a hint of caramel. Very moderate hops, a little more would not hurt.

650 ml bottle, as Lagunitas Hop Stoopid Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%, OG 1085, IBU 102. Golden colour, large white head. Intense and sweetish aroma of fruity and piney American hops and crystal malts, notes of orange marmalade, pine needles, tropical fruits and grapefruit. The flavour is quite sweet and intensely hoppy, with the same elements as in the aroma. Nearly too much of it all.

330 ml bottle, from HiperDino, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. ABV is 6%. Golden colour, white head. Lively carbonation. Fruity and mildly spicy aroma, notes of Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of mild spices and Belgian ale yeast, some fruit. Pleasant to drink.

Pleasant mildly roasty aroma, notes of mild coffee, dark chocolate and woodwork, a hint of liquorice. The medium dry flavour has the same elements as the aroma. I don’t know what makes this a "double" stout, but it is nice enough to drink anyway.
