440 ml can, from a SPAR shop in Funchal. ABV is 6.0%. Kveik IPA. Hops are Eldorado, Vic Secret and Citra. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of kveik and ripe yellow plums, a hint of pine. Piney and grapefruity flavour, hints of orange peel, medium dry, okay.

330 ml bottle, batch #2124, from Coop Extra, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Hoppy aroma of tropical fruits and citrus. Light bodied. The flavour is slightly on the dry side, with notes of pine needles / resin and grapefruit.

Dec. 2021: 750 ml corked & caged clear bottle, batch #01/2019, from the cidery. ABV is 5.5%. Clear and very pale straw colour, pours moderately sparkling with a small and shortlived white head. Aroma of Norwegian apple varieties, a hint of sulphites. Medium dry and fresh flavour of apples, some tannins and sulphites.

April 2017: 750 ml corked & caged green bottle, vintage 2016, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Apple varieties are Discovery, Aroma and Gravenstein. Very pale yellow colour, pours sparkling with a white shortlived head. Strong and beguiling aroma of said dessert apple varieties. Hints of oak and sulphites. Semi-sweet flavour of dessert apples, a hint of sulphites. Expensive, but worth it.

Aroma of oxidised apple must and funky cellar. Dry flavour of apples, a hint of oak, some tannins, slightly astringent finish.

Aug. 2017: 375 ml green bottle, 2014 Edition, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Brown to dark amber colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant vinous aroma, notes of red wine, oak and red wine vinegar. Sour flavour, notes of lemons, red wine vinegar and oak. Hardly any bitterness.

330 ml can. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 22. Gusher can, enormous off-white head, the hazy reddish brown beer appears only very slowly. Aroma and flavour of malts, brown bread, caramel and brown sugar, a hint of dark rum. Moderate hops. Not too sweet.

Oct. 2013: 330 ml bottle, vintage 2008, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 12.7%. Cloudy dark brown colour, large beige head. Sweetish malty aroma, notes of oak, alcohol and caramel. Warming mouthfeel. Malty flavour, oak and caramel again, but not too sweet for a barleywine. Also notes of dark dried fruits. Oaky and hoppy finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Very dark brown to black colour. Roasty aroma and flavour, with sharpish piney hops throughout, quite bitter. Not too bad.

June 2013: 500 ml bottle, from Løvbjerg, Ikast. ABV is 7.0%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights. Large beige head. The aroma is bready and moderately roasty, some fruity hints too. Pleasant and smooth flavour of moderately roasted malts, black bread, mild coffee, chocolate and caramel, but not too sweet. Very moderate hops. A beer I might well buy again.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.8%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of light malts and spicy saison yeast, hints of oak and red wine. Citric and vinous mouthfeel. Flavour of lemons, dry white wine, red wine and oak, also spicy saison yeast. Nice and refreshing.

500 ml can, as Nøgne Ø Classic Premium Lager, from SPAR Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Strong sweetish aroma of flowers, jam, yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits. The flavour is not quite as sweet as the aroma made me expect, but the mouthfeel is good for its ABV. Well hopped throughout, fruity with a medium bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.1%. Slightly hazy deep golden to orange colour, small white head. Strong sweetish aroma of kandij sugar syrup, Belgian ale yeast, caramel and dark dried fruits, hints of spices. The flavour is distinctly spicy, and not as sweet as I feared. Notes of cinnamon, chamomile, nutmeg, cardamom and coriander seeds. Herbal hops in the finish. Unusual, and quite good.

Aroma of sour berries (haskap berries are a new acquaintance for me, smells like a blend of blueberries and blackberries), oak and lactic acid. Sour flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Minimal bitterness.

375 ml corked & caged bottle, vintage 2018, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.4%. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Complex aroma of brettanomyces, oak, lactic acid, sumac berries and apricots, spicy hints. Very sour flavour, with the same elements as the aroma.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Orange colour, large white head. The aroma and the medium sour flavour have unsurprisingly notes of mango, apricot and passion fruit. Fairly refreshing.

355 ml can, as AleSmith Nut Brown English-Style Brown Ale, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Deep brown colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of brown malts, brown bread and prunes. Good mouthfeel for its strength. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also some caramel. Low bitterness.

Dec. 2013: 500 ml bottle, Cardinal’s great Yule beer tasting. ABV is 10.9%. Pitch black colour, moderate to low brown head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, mild coffee and sour cherries. The flavour has a distinct sourish fruity acidity from the cherries, also smooth chocolate. Some bitterness and wood in the finish. Maybe not well balanced, but interesting and fun to drink.
