Dec. 2011: 375 ml green corked and caged "champagne" bottle, wrapped in red paper, as Liefmans Cuvée Brut, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Dark red beer, large pinkish-peachy head. Strong and intense aroma of cherries, also notes of almonds and marzipan. The flavour is cherries all the way, medium sweet, not "brut" by any stretch of the mind. At least it is somewhat drier than Liefmans Fruitesse. Just a hint of hops and oak in the finish. Quite good, if you like cherries (and who doesn’t?), and don’t expect a "normal" beer flavour.

Jan. 2018: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Cloudy brown colour, off-white head. Pleasant vinous aroma, notes of oak, red wine vinegar, raisins, pecan nuts / pecan pie. Vinegary and medium sour flavour, notes of oak and pecan nuts.

Feb. 2018: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pale yellow colour, huge white head. Aroma of white grapes, spicy yeast and farmhouse. Light bodied. Refreshing flavour, fairly dry, hints of citrus, lots of spicy yeast and distinct bittering hops.

330 ml bottle, from Joker Vatlandsvåg. ABV is 4.7%. Very dark brown to black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate and mild coffee. Smooth flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, moderate hops.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. ABV is 6.5%. Brownish-orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma and flavour of citric and piney hops, notes of malts and caramelized orange marmalade. Bitter finish.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.8%, IBU 28. Murky brownish-orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple and other tropical fruits, hints of Earl Grey and Orange Pekoe teas. The flavour is moderately sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, and a fairly distinct hop bitterness throughout.

Dec. 2015: Cask pint at the Leyton Orient Supporters Club. Chestnut color, minimal off-white head. Malty aroma, blackcurrant leaves and some earthy hops. Malty flavour, hints of caramel, warm fruity notes (blackcurrants), earthy hops in the finish. Good beer.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8%. Opaque yellow colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of mixed tropical fruits. Flavour also of tropical fruits, medium sweet, some citrus too, hints of sprucetips.

Aug. 2012: Shared bottle at local tasting. Black colour, ruby in the highlights. Moderate beige head. Nice hoppy aroma, also moderate roasty notes. Roasty and hoppy flavour, a solid bitterness throughout. Also coffee notes. Somewhat more roasty than other "black IPAs".

March 2017: 330 ml bottle, at Malone’s Irish Bar, Aberdeen. Oatmeal milk stout, 4.7% ABV. Black colour, small beige head. Nice roasty aroma, notes of coffee and chocolate. The flavour is also roasty, with distinct notes of chocolate, vanilla and lactose, but not too sweet. Decent beer.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.9%. Pale golden colour, a slight haziness, large white head. Aroma of sweetish pilsener malts, Belgian ale yeast, and floral and fruity hops, notes of plums. Flavour with the same elements, also distinct spicy notes, both from the yeast and the bittering hops.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.7%. Hazy brownish-golden colour, large to moderate white head. Yeasty and vinous aroma, hints of redcurrants. Fresh and vinous flavour, notes of spicy saison yeast, again hints of redcurrants, followed by distinct bittering hops. Quite good.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Brewed with redcurrants and sour cherries. Clear red colour, off-white head. The aroma and the medium sour flavour are as expected dominated by redcurrants and sour cherries, not too sweet, quite nice and refreshing.

Slightly sweet flavour, followed by distinct hoppy notes, with oranges, grapefruit and resin. Bitter finish. Original rating: 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, ABV is 5.5%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of fruity American hops, hints of orange marmalade. Medium sweet flavour, notes of orangey and grapefruity hops, some pine too,

April 2018: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Pitch black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, molasses and oak, a hint of whiskey. The flavour is fairly sweet, with loads of molasses and chocolate, also roast malts, oak and whiskey. Moderate bitterness.

November 2015: Sample on tap at What’s Brewing Beer Festival, Stavanger. Lemony / citrussy and very refreshing, but not extreme. Refreshing. I liked this one.

Feb. 2014: 750 ml bottle, a gift from Mr. Papsø himself, many thanks! ABV is 6%. The glass fills completely with beige foam, and it takes a long time for the dark ruby beer to appear. Pleasant aroma of passion fruit and dark malts, hints of chocolate. Attractive and smooth fruity flavour, where the passion fruit blends in surprisingly well with the dark malts, probably because the roasted notes are not dominant. Moderate hops.

Aug. 2021: 330 ml can, at Grand Café-Restaurant Loos, Rotterdam. ABV is 4.5%. There is a picture of Karl Marx on the can. Deep golden to orange colour, large white head. Reasonably citric aroma and flavour, hints of passionfruit, on a background of sufficient malts. Refreshing. Went well with my chicken satay.

Sample from cask (with cask breather and sparkler) at Cardinal, Stavanger. Deep reddish brown colour, slightly off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malts and earthy and herbal English hops, not too sweet. Good bitterness.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger, as Budels Lentebock. Golden colour, white head. Aroma and flavour of "spicy" Belgian yeast and spicy and minty hops. The alcohol is noticeable, but not disturbing. Nice to drink.

Aroma of fruity and piney hops, on a background of moderate roast malts. Medium dry flavour, piney and moderately fruity hops, moderate roast malts with notes of coffee, a hint of dark chocolate. Score: 3.2 Also sampled April 2023 on tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. New score: 3.6
