330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6%. Moderately hazy golden to orange colour, large white head. Aroma of orange marmalade, also notes of other citrus fruits, pine and spruce, a hint of caramel. The flavour has notes of pine needles and caramelized orange marmalade, medium bitter finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Roasty aroma and flavour, coffee notes, dry and "clean" dark lager flavour.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pale Ale. ABV is 5.8%. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Some fruit in aroma and flavour, but fairly dry, moderate bitterness. Nice enough.

440 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.0%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Distinct and intense aroma of dark malts, lactose, vanilla, cocoa / chocolate - and not least the spices used (cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves, ginger and nutmeg). Very sweet and spicy flavour, far too much lactose, and otherwise the same elements as the aroma. Loads of said spices in the aftertaste. Overkill, but props to the brewery for trying. The can is for sharing - good in small portions!

330 ml can, as Sandford Orchards Saint Louis Dry Hopped Devon Cider, infused with U.S. hops. ABV is 5.5%. From Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Clear and very pale yellow colour, pours sparkling with a moderate to small white head. Distinct aroma of cider apples and floral and herbal hops, hints of oak. The crisp flavour has notes of fresh apples and citric and herbal hops. Some residual sweetness, the bitterness is low.

Citric flavour, a hint of tropical fruits and yellow stonefruits, nice and easy drinking. Might buy again, when I just need a nice refreshment.

Nice aroma, notes of Nelson Sauvin hops (crushed gooseberries and white grapes), also notes of mild spices and herbs. Citric and somewhat fizzy mouthfeel, light bodied as expected. The flavour has citrus and fairly distinct spices and hops.

375 ml corked & caged green bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6.2%. Pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Nice aroma of "spicy" saison yeast, and white grape must or white wine of "spicy" grape varieties, notes of cellar and oak. Very dry and crisp flavour, notes of brut sparkling white wine, some yeasty notes, the bitterness is very moderate.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.0%. Hops are Centennial, Simcoe and Strata. Hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of oranges / orange marmalade, some piney notes. Citric flavour, distinct piney / resinous and grapefruity bitterness, "dusty" malts in the background.

330 ml can, as Rygr Hòkunått Norsk Julebock, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. At this ABV, it is not a bock (despite the name) nor a Dunkel, but a Schwarzbier. It is not sweet (despite what the brewery says). Black colour, large to moderate beige head. Roasty aroma and flavour, coffee notes, burnt toast, quite dry. One-dimensional, but nice enough to drink. Not my preferred choice with the traditional Norwegian Yule fare, but nice to drink after dinner, or with a shot of aquavit at the side.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of brown malts, roasted nuts, caramel, tonka beans and vanilla. The flavour is not as sweet as I feared, the sweetness is fairly well balanced. The same elements as the aroma, also a hint of ginger and salt, a slight fruitiness of dark dried fruits, moderate hops.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Black colour, small brown head. Distinct aroma of chocolate / cocoa, also roast malts and mild coffee. Warming mouthfeel. The fairly sweet flavour has distinct notes of roast malts, chocolate / cocoa and coffee, moderate hops.

440 ml nitro can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. Deep reddish brown beer appears after the nitro surge, creamy off-white head. Moderate aroma of grain, malts, caramel and dust. Very smooth mouthfeel. Slightly roasty malts in the flavour, medium bitter finish.

Feb. 2016: 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Madla. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Moderate aroma of roast malts and coffee, hints of chocolate, a whiff of vomit. Medium dry flavour, roast malts and coffee again, also dark bitter chocolate, tar and unsweetened liquorice.
