2502 | Celt Experience Bleddyn 1075 | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 5.6%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice aroma of fruity hops, hints of orange marmalade, also notes of caramel and toffee. The flavour is medium sweet, notes of caramel and bitter orange marmalade again, plenty of fruity and piney hops, ending in a solid bitterness which is surprisingly sharp and distinct for a Welsh ale. |

2507 | Mikkeller Hop Series Bravo | Denmark | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 103. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of Bravo hops, strong fruity notes, hints of pine. The flavour has a distinct hoppy bitterness, but also fruity and piney notes come through. I still think we would get a better overall impression of this fairly new hop variety, if the IBUs were kept a little lower in this beer. The long aftertaste is quite bitter and sharp. My interest is sufficiently triggered to try Bravo hops in homebrew. |

2508 | Mikkeller Hop Series Citra | Denmark | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 88. Deep golden to amber colour, huge off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Citra hops, with the expected notes of citrus, also notes of mixed tropical fruits. The flavour has some initial caramel sweetness, then the Citra hops take over. Citrus notes of course, but also resin and a distinct bitterness. Good, but I think the subtleties of this fine hop variety would come through even better with a slightly more moderate IBU. |

2511 | Indslev Sort Hvede | Denmark | Dunkel Weizen | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Dagli’brugsen Skødstrup. ABV is 6.5%. Some sediment in the bottle. Black colour, large brown head. The aroma has notes of coffee, bonfires and smoked meat. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of mild coffee and smoked meat, a touch of fruit and chocolate in the finish. Hints of liquorice in the aftertaste, but only after a while. Decent stuff, but maybe a bit too much smoked malts for an otherwise smooth and tender stout. |

2512 | Struise Rosse | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 33 cl bottle, courtesy of gunnfryd, who supplied it to our tasting. The ABV was 5.0%. Served at room temperature, which was too warm, and caused the beer to gush out of the bottle when opening. Reddish brown colour, decent head. Very nice aroma: oak, spices, leather, malts, fortified wine. Moderately spicy and malty flavour. Not bad! |

2513 | Nøgne Ø Beyond The Pale Ale | Norway | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, at last! (my first bottle was stolen in a burglary in Göteborg) - thanks to yngwie and Venner av Nøgne Ø! Bottle conditioned, ABV is 5.9%, 70 IBU! This batch was originally a "brewing / hopping accident" (the batch was intended to be the "normal" Pale Ale) - with 70 IBU I guess this one should qualify as an IPA, or maybe even an Imperial IPA? Hazy golden colour, very cloudy in the end, decent head. Lovely hoppy aroma, with notes of citrus, apricot and pineapple, also notes of flowers. Moderate carbonation in the glass, initially a soft mouthfeel with a moderate sweetness, before the intense hoppy bitterness takes over and dominates the flavour throughout. Very bitter aftertaste. An interesting experience, but to be honest: this is too bitter for me! I prefer the "normal" pale ale. |

2518 | Goose Eye Mild Goose Chase | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at the North Riding Hotel, Scarborough. The ABV was 3.8%. Copper coloured beer, creamy light tan head. Malty aroma, notes of toffee. Malty flavour, smooth mouthfeel, some caramel, dry hops in the finish. Okay. I suppose the name of the beer suggests that this is a mild, but to me it’s a typical Northern English malty bitter. |

Deep golden colour, creamy and lasting off-white head. Pleasant fruity hops in the aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has moderate malts and acceptable hops, hints of nuts and maybe some toffee. The porridge oat is just there as an airy notion in the background. Dry hoppy finish. Easy drinking, nice enough. |

2520 | RCH Double Header | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned. ABV is 5.3%. Golden colour, hazy. Large and lasting off-white head. Nice hoppy / citrussy aroma. The flavour is also distinctly hoppy throughout, but there is also a noticeable presence of alcohol - in a blind test I would have guessed that the beer was somewhat stronger than 5.3%. There’s a moderate sweetness in the background. Moreish. |
