201 t Smisje Catherine The Great Imperial Stout Belgium Imperial Stout 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 10%. Dark brown colour, but far from black. Big beige head. Very malty aroma with notes of brown bread and caramel, only mild roasty notes. The flavour is also malty and medium sweet with caramel and just some mild roasty notes, bitter hops in the finish and aftertaste. Alcohol is noticeable but not disturbing. Probably the weirdest "imperial stout" I’ve had, but if you disregard the anticipations created by the style name, the beer is decent enough to drink. A new style perhaps? - "Imperial Belgian Brown Ale"?

202 Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel Belgium Abbey Tripel 3.9

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330 ml stubby bottle, as "Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel", bought at Købmandsgården, Voldby, Denmark. ABV is 9%. Hazy pale yellow colour, huge and lasting white head. Moderate but nice aroma of floral hops, some fruity notes too. The flavour is distinctly hoppy but not too much, and has also distinct spicy notes of Belgian ale yeast. Bitter finish and aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden. Good beer!

203 Augustijn Blonde Belgium Belgian Ale 3.9

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is now 7% - seems to vary quite a bit. Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, huge and white head lasts "forever". Fairly nice aroma of spices and Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is mildly spicy with moderate notes of white candi sugar, not too sweet, quite nice. Moderate hops. Light bodied for its strength, alcohol is well hidden, pleasant to drink.

204 Augustijn Grand Cru Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

330 ml stubby bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 9%. Golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Very nice initial fruity and spicy aroma, loses some its impact after a couple minutes in the glass. The flavour is sweet and spicy with noticeable hops, but the alcohol is not too well hidden. Could have been better, could have been worse.

205 Lindemans Framboise Belgium Fruit Lambic 3.9

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

250 ml nip bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 2.5%. Dark red (and I mean RED) colour, big pink head. Intense sweetish aroma of raspberries, and nothing but raspberries (or raspberry jam). The flavour is very sweet, and has loads of raspberries, followed by raspberries, with raspberries in the finish. Get the point? I like raspberries and raspberry juice, so I like this beer. Did I say "beer"? You get no indication that this actually is a beer. It tastes like raspberry juice, and raspberry juice is good for you. Know that. Besides, with 2.5% ABV, you’re on your way to becoming a tee-totaller. This is probably one of the most perverted beers I’ve ever had.

206 Wittekerke Rose Belgium Fruit Beer 3.5

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

250 ml nip bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 4.3%. Cloudy pink colour, big off-white / pale pink head. Strong aroma of raspberry juice and raspberry jam. The flavour is sweet but still refreshing, with plenty of raspberry juice and just a hint of hops. I think they could with advantage have skipped the aspartame and artificial aromatics, though.

207 Lucifer (Vintages through 2008) Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

330 ml bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8%, brewed by Het Anker. Very pale yellow colour, hazy in the end, huge white head. The aroma has notes of "Green Apples Shampoo", Belgian ale yeast and spices. The flavour is fairly refreshing for its strength and moderately spicy, notes of green apples again, also notes of white candi sugar and artificial candy, unpleasant soapy aftertaste. Overall disappointing.

330 ml bottle, as De Dolle Special Extra Export Stout, kindly shared by my beerpal Jan Magnus. ABV is 9%. Pitch black colour, big tan head. First a fairly moderate but very nice roasty aroma (gets even better as the beer warms up a little) with some vinous notes, hints of dark dried fruits and leather. The flavour is also vinous, oaky and roasty, hints of raisins, coffee and liquorice. Overall brilliant.

213 Agrumbocq Belgium Fruit Beer 2.9

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

250 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.1%. Extremely pale greyish-yellow colour, huge white head. Strong aroma of mandarin juice and other citrus fruits, notes of orange candy. The flavour is sweet (too sweet) with mandarin notes, but still fairly refreshing. Would have been even more refreshing if it had been less sweet, and had a little more citrus acidity.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed by Bosteels. ABV is 8.4%. The glass fills completely by an enormous foamy head, and the golden beer below appears only slowly. Strong and attractive aroma of spices, Belgian ale yeast and some fruit. The flavour is also spicy and yeasty with some fruit, notes of white kandij sugar, but the sweetness is not too much. Moderate hops in the finish.

225 Saison Dupont Dry Hopping Belgium Saison 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Shared magnum bottle at RBNAG 2011, as Saison Dupont Cuvée Dry Hopping, vintage 2011. ABV 6.5%. Hazy straw colour, moderate white head. Grassy hops in the aroma. Decent hoppy bitterness in the flavour. Can’t really say that it’s so much better than the ordinary Saison Dupont - but might be able to tell the difference if I sampled them side by side?
