2051 Schneider Weisse Tap 3: Alkoholfrei Germany Reduced Alcohol 2.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

500 ml bottle, as Schneider Weisse Tap 3 Mein Alkoholfreies, from MENY Stadionparken. Hazy brownish golden colour, huge off-white head. The aroma has some of the usual n/a beer character of baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables, but also some wheaty notes with hints of cloves and citrus. Thin mouthfeel. Dry flavour with some hints of citrus - boring and uninteresting, but if you need a n/a beer, it is not undrinkable.

2052 Schneider Weisse Tap X Mein Nelson Sauvin Germany Weizenbock 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Shared bottle at local tasting, as Schneider Weisse Tap X Mein Nelson Sauvin. ABV is 7.3%. Cloudy orange colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma, notes of cloves and crushed gooseberries. Spicy flavour, very strong notes of cloves, also notes of Nelson Sauvin hops, but not dominant. Unusual, interesting, and pleasant to drink.

2054 Emdbräu Germany Pale Lager 2.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

330 ml can, bought in Spain. Brewed in the European Union for EMD Internationale Handelsgesells, Hans Martin Scheleyer Str. 2, D-77656 Offenburg, Germany, and European Marketing Distribution, CH-8808 Pfäffikon, Switzerland. Ingredients include maize and stabilizer E-405. ABV is 4.5%. Pale yellow colour, big and lasting white head. Sweetish and grassy pale lager aroma, not interesting but not awful either. Moderate carbonation in the glass. The flavour is also sweetish but not cloying, with just enough hops to make this an easy drinking beer. Good for quaffing, better for forgetting.

2055 DAB Original Germany Helles / Dortmunder 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

500 ml can, bought in Spain. ABV is 5%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big white head. Sweetish and grassy aroma, some floral notes too. The flavour has a very moderate malty sweetness, with a tolerable hoppy bitterness throughout. Not exceptional, but decent.

2056 Oettinger Export Germany Helles / Dortmunder 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

500 ml can, bought in Spain. ABV is 5.4%. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, big white head. Sweetish aroma, some malts and floral hops. Fairly sweet flavour, tolerably balanced with the hops, the alcohol is noticeable though. Still better than I feared, easy drinking when cold.

2057 Oettinger Pils Germany Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 2.2

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

500 ml can, bought in Spain. ABV is 4.7%. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, big to moderate white head. Sweetish aroma, notes of candy, some floral and grassy notes too. The flavour is too sweet for a German pils, some artificial "candy" notes, but the beer is still drinkable. A little bitterness in the finish. Not something I’ll buy again, though.

2058 Berliner Kindl Weisse Waldmeister Germany Berliner Weisse 2.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 3.0%. Signal green colour, low white head. Almond essence / marzipan aroma. Sour flavour with strong notes of almond essence / marzipan. Weird. The otherwise refreshing sour flavour does not blend in well with the sweetish marzipan elements.

2060 Pinkus Organic Münstersch Alt Germany Altbier 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

500 ml bottle, as Original Pinkus Obergärig (Münstersch Alt is mentioned on the rear label), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.1%. Like all Pinkus beers, it is organic. Crystal clear and extremely pale yellow colour, more like a Kölsch than any Altbier I know. Moderate but lasting white head. Weak aroma, some grassy and dusty hops. The flavour is clean and refreshing enough, a typical Kölsch, I’d say (disregarding that the beer is not brewed in Köln). There are no offensive side flavours, but the moderately hopped flavour does not blow my socks off either. Clearly drinkable, but so are many other (and better) beers. Won’t buy again.

2061 Weihenstephaner / Samuel Adams Infinium Germany Belgian Strong Ale 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

750 ml very elegant corked bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. ABV is 10.5%. Crystal clear golden colour, pours very sparkling with huge white head. Slightly "unfresh" aroma of "Belgian" ale yeast, mild spices and stale marmalade, hints of alcohol and solvent. The flavour has also an "unfresh" character, notes of stale fruit, stale hops, alcohol and a hint of caramel. Whatever the idea behind this beer, it was poorly executed. Disappointing.

2063 Ayinger Celebrator Dopplebock Germany Doppelbock 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Very dark ruby colour, nearly black. Moderate tan head. Surprisingly moderate aroma: dark bread, some caramel. Rich malty flavour, dark bread and caramel again, also some molasses, but not cloyingly sweet. Very moderate hops as expected. A good doppelbock, but way overrated.

2065 Buddelship / Mashsee Moonshine Midnight Brew Imperial Pils Germany Imperial Pilsener 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.0%. Hops are Callista, Equinox and Willamette. Golden to orange colour, large white head. Distinct and pleasant fruity / citrussy hops in the aroma, also spicy hints. The flavour has also distinct fruity, spicy and piney hops, with a bitter finish. A typical "India Pale Lager", blindfolded I might even have guessed an IPA, certainly not much "pils" about this one. .

330 ml bottle, batch #68, from Vinmonopolet Oslo S. ABV is 5.3%. Hops are Herkules and Northern Brewer. Black colour, large beige head. Aroma of roast malts and dark chocolate. Flavour of roast malts, dark chocolate and coffee, medium bittering hops. Decent beer.

2067 Buddelship The Steelyard Pale Ale Germany English Pale Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Sample on tap at What’s Brewing BF, Stavanger. A run of the mill pale ale (which is not necessarily a bad thing, as I love pale ales), appeared more American than English to me. Very drinkable, but not particularly exciting.

Aroma of banana, caramel, brown bread, a hint of cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. Slightly sweet flavour of brown bread with some caramel, hints of banana and cloves. Minimal hops. The malty flavour has some sweetness, but not too much, still with distinct notes of caramel. Moderate hops, as expected from a dunkel. A pleasant dunkel to drink.

2075 The 4 Elements Germany Pale Lager 1.8

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4

330 ml clear bottle, from Super Cor, La Manga (Spain), at a price about 5x as much as an average Spanish supermarket lager - without being the least better. ABV is 5%. Pale golden colour, pearly carbonation, low white head. "Skunky" and grassy Heineken-like aroma, also sweetish hints of citrus. Very bland and neutral flavour for a German Reinheitsgebot pale lager - I assume hops should be one the 4 elements, but the brewers sure haven’t used much of them! A faint hint of citrus, slightly metallic finish (as far as there is any finish at all). One to forget.
