Lovely weissbier aroma, plenty of cloves, some banana too but not as much as in some other hefes. Cloves also in the flavour, which is light bodied, refreshing and not too sweet. A slightly lemony finish. A very enjoyable hefe! |

1980 | Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Unser Aventinus | Germany | Doppelbock | 4.7
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 (Bottle). Theoretically I might encounter a better Weizen than this one, but I doubt very much that will ever happen. Murky brown colour, large head, aroma of Paradise: Cloves and other undefinable spices, dried fruits (figs), oak and sandalwood. Oaky cloves flavour with hints of burnt caramel. Alcohol is present, but not overwhelmingly so. Dry aftertaste. This is a thoroughly well made beer! (Thanks, joss!) |

1996 | Flensburger Frühlingsbock | Germany | Bock | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 330 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh and pleasant aroma, notes of herbal and slightly spicy hops, on a background of pale malts. The flavour is very fresh and fruity for a lager beer, also herbal and spicy notes. Easy drinking and fairly dry, but not thin - there are sufficient malts around. Has a nice alcoholic punch, but the alcohol does not dominate the flavour. More refined than other Maibocks / heller bocks I’ve had. Pleasant to drink, with food or on its own. |

1997 | Benediktiner Weissbier (Lich) | Germany | Witbier | 3.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark, probably at Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 5.4%. BB date 20.07.13. Hazy orange colour, large white head. Smells a bit "off", sweetish notes of malts and caramel, only hints of banana and cloves. The flavour is somewhat better, malty character, not too sweet, but again the typical hefeweizen notes of "banana & cloves" are very subdued. Lacks some of the "freshness" of a better hefeweizen, Might buy a fresher bottle at another occasion, to re-rate. |
