Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Real Foods, Edinburgh. ABV is 5.0%. Like all Pinkus Müller beers, it is organic. Cloudy pale yellow colour, huge white head. Strong and typical hefeweizen aroma, spicy notes of cloves and banana, hints of farmhouse and oak. Soft mouthfeel. Wheaty flavour, subdued cloves and banana, moderate sweetness. Another good hefeweizen, but not the very best. |

1907 | Neumarkter Lammsbräu Glutenfrei | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway. ABV is 4.7%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, moderate head. Sweetish aroma with some fruity hops. The flavour is surprisingly similar to an "ordinary" German pilsener, fairly crisp and "clean" with decent hops in the finish. This must be good news for pilsener fans with coeliac disease! |

1912 | Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger, as (Marke) Weltenburger Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel. ABV is 5.3%. Despite using the "Marke Weltenburger" label of the Bischofshof-brewed beers, and not the "Weltenburger Kloster" label of the original monastery brewery, the rear label claims that this bottle has actually been brewed and bottled in the Klosterbrauerei. BB date 21.02.08. Hazy brown beer, huge off-white head. The moderate aroma has a strange combination of brown bread / bakery and citrussy notes, hints of cloves. The flavour has malty and bready notes, again combined with citrussy / lemony notes. Relatively light bodied and easy drinking. I had it on its own, probably nice with a light meal. |

1916 | Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Urbock | Germany | Rauchbier | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Mahogany coloured beer, large beige head. INTENSE and pretty extreme aroma of smoked meat and burnt-out ruins of wooden houses, hints of tar. The flavour is also intensely smoky, but there is also a malty sweetness to back it up. Moderate hops in the finish. You have to be impressed (one way or another) by this beer - but I have trouble deciding if I really LIKE the overwhelming smokiness. I know a lot of people LOVE it - I’ll just say: Give it a try! |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Deep golden brown to amber colour, large off-white head. Moderately spicy aroma, quite nice, with some notes of bakery, also a certain fruitiness. The flavour is quite fruity but also distinctly malty, notes of toffee and mild spices, decent hops in the finish. A lager well above average! A bit too much carbonation for my taste though. |

1919 | Pinkus Special | Germany | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.1%. "Naturtrüb und ungefiltert". Like all Pinkus beers, it is organic. Pale golden colour, big and lasting white head. Moderate carbonation in the glass. Fairly unremarkable but not unpleasant sweetish aroma, hints of flowery hops and honey. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is delicate and tender, with a neat balance between the malts and hops. No "flavour bomb", but still much better than most of the industrial "fizzy and yellow" stuff. |

1922 | Heban | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, a gift from my son Steinar (bought in Poland). Brewed by Herrnbräu in Ingolstadt, Germany. ABV is 5.2%. Extract 12,5%. Pasteurized. Beautiful deep copper to chestnut colour, big to moderate cream-coloured head. Very malty aroma, notes of caramel, rye bread and bakery. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is also malty and sweet with notes of caramel and rye bread, also a slight roastiness. The hops in the finish are very moderate, but sufficient (together with the roastiness) to balance the sweetness and make the beer very drinkable. |

1925 | Jever Fun | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml green bottle, bought in Sweden. Non-alcoholic. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, big and lasting white head. The aroma has first a fresh "skunky" whiff when opening the bottle, then the usual n/a beer notes of over-boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Also some sweetish notes of candy, hints of grassy hops. Fairly thin mouthfeel, as expected. The flavour is moderately citrussy and grassy, making the beer quite drinkable and refreshing - for a n/a beer, that is. Hints of hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Could have been worse. |
