Aroma of American hops, piney and catty notes, not as fresh as I hoped. Piney and grapefruity flavour, notes of caramel and crystal malts, distinct bitterness in the aftertaste. Drinkable, but not a winner in a field with many competitors.

June 2013: 750 ml swingtop bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 7.9%. Beautiful ruby colour, moderate beige head. Lovely malty aroma with plenty of caramel and rye bread, some mild roasty notes in the background. The flavour is also distinctly malty but not too sweet, caramel, brown bread and mild roasty notes again. Moderate hops in the finish.

November 2013: On tap at Amundsen, Oslo. ABV was 6.9%. Ruby red colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma and flavour of Christmas spices, malts and caramel. Not too sweet, pleasant. Would buy again.

July 2012: 750 ml swingtop bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 5.9%. Amber colour, huge white (or slightly off-white) head. Sweetish malty, herbal and "spicy" (the chicory?) aroma. The flavour is pleasant, smooth and easy drinking, not too sweet, notes of caramel malts, chicory and moderate hops. Might buy again.

September 2015: 330 ml swingtop bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.9%. Brewed with 10% rhubarb juice. BB date 23.11.14. Slightly hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of rhubarb jam. The flavour is a weird combination between rhubarb acidity, alcohol and IPA bitterness. Not bad, but not a favourite of mine.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Hazy red colour, moderate to small off-white to pink head. Distinct aroma of ripe raspberries and lactic acid, just a hint of lime. Medium sour flavour, not very sweet, notes of raspberries, lime and lactic acid, hardly any bitterness.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of brown malts, roasted nuts, caramel, tonka beans and vanilla. The flavour is not as sweet as I feared, the sweetness is fairly well balanced. The same elements as the aroma, also a hint of ginger and salt, a slight fruitiness of dark dried fruits, moderate hops.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Black colour, small brown head. Distinct aroma of chocolate / cocoa, also roast malts and mild coffee. Warming mouthfeel. The fairly sweet flavour has distinct notes of roast malts, chocolate / cocoa and coffee, moderate hops.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.8%. Black colour, moderate to small tan head. Distinct aroma of coconut and malts, a whiff of vomit and sweat. Moderate carbonation. Flavour of coconut and lightly roasted malts, also notes of chocolate. Not too sweet though. Low bitterness.

June 2013: Shared 750 ml green corked "champagne" bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate but nice aroma, malts, herbal hops and a hint of caramel. Harmonious flavour, not very sweet, herbal hops, highly drinkable. Better suited to accompany Christmas dinner than its sweeter Belgian counterparts.

750 ml corked & caged green bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Clear golden colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, apple peel and apple cores, hints of oak and sulphites. Semi-dry flavour with the same elements as the aroma. Nice to drink.

330 ml cobalt blue bottle, from SPAR Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Ancient pink colour, moderate to small off-white head. Aroma of artificial and unfresh real "fruits of the forest" blends. The flavour is somewhat fresher and better, notes of lemons, lactic acid and berries. Dull finish, low bitterness. Won't buy again.

Moderately hazy golden colour, pours vigorously sparkling with a large white head that actually lasts a while. Pleasant aroma of cider apples, a hint of oak and sulphites. Medium sweet flavour of apples and oak, a hint of sulphites again. A very good cider.

Clear golden to orange colour, pours moderately sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, dessert apples and oak, a hint of sulphites. Medium dry flavour - hardly "brut", there is still a substantial amount of residual fruit sugars. Otherwise the same elements as the aroma.

330 ml bottle, as Mont Salève Hors-Série Cerises, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Gusher bottle. Hazy golden colour (no cherry colour), small white head of poor retention. Aroma of lactic acid, cherries / cherry kernels and marzipan. Very sour flavour, lactic acid galore, notes of sour cherries, lemons and marzipan. Way too sour for me, won't buy again.

Strong aroma of oak and fortified wine - the apples are there in the background. Very sweet and intense flavour, notes of sweet apples, raisins, oak and fortified wine.

Nice witbier aroma with notes of citrus and coriander. Light bodied. Refreshing flavour, a slight sweetness, citrus and moderate coriander. Very moderate hops. Might well buy again, a typical summer beer.
