977 | Carlsberg Capo | Denmark | Fruit Beer | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Bottle, bought in Denmark. Looks like a pale raspberry soda. Strong initial carconation, but hardly any head. Very light fruity aroma, light bodied despite the high ABV, refreshing but no real substance or aftertaste. No, Carlsberg - this is not what the world needs. Let's have Wiibroe Imperial Stout Porter* back, you m******f*****s (*which we eventually had). |

979 | Carlsberg Pivo | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 Bottle, bought in Denmark. Golden pils, moderate head. Good Saaz aroma. Light bodied, but decent bitterness in the aftertaste. An ABV of 5% would be more appropriate. The Czechs do it better, but all in all this is not a bad try of Carlsberg. A beer for the summer days. |

980 | Holbæk Lillevang Pale Ale | Denmark | English Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, thanks to Tom. ABV is 6.5%. Golden colour, big white head. Fairly strong aroma of Saazer hops, grassy and herbal notes. The flavour has a distinct bitterness from start to finish (Target hops?), but not much else, neither maltiness nor hop flavour other than the bitterness. Not my favourite pale ale this one. |

981 | Holbæk Brown Ale | Denmark | Brown Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, thanks to Tom. ABV is 6.5%. Deep brown colour, big off-white head. Moderate aroma of lightly toasted malts, brown bread, caramel and biscuits. The flavour has much the same elements as the aroma, with some caramel sweetness. Minimal hops. The alcohol is well hidden. A fairly nice and drinkable brown ale. |

982 | Holbæk Fjord Beer | Denmark | Blonde Ale | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, thanks to Tom. ABV is 3.5%. Pale golden colour, big to moderate white head. Smells like an industrial pale lager, some grassy hops, hints of honey, metallic notes. The flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, light bodied of course, but there are fairly decent hops thoughout. Bitter and slightly metallic aftertaste. |

983 | Midtfyns / De Molen X Porter | Denmark | Imperial Porter | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Bottle, at Cardinal’s Ølsymposium. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely and well rounded aroma and flavour with all the typical robust porter porter qualities, but the roastiness is not overdone. Smooth and nicely balanced. Will give a more detailed review on the next occasion. |

984 | Jacobsen Golden Naked Christmas Ale | Denmark | English Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Copper coloured beer, big beige head. Moderate aroma, hints of Christmas spices and caramel, maybe also a touch of lemon peel. The flavour is medium sweet and malty, notes of caramel and Christmas spices again, some fruit, moderate hops and peppery notes in the finish. There is also a faint touch of liquorice root, but I’d hardly be able to identify it if I did not know that it was supposed to be there. Not a bad beer. |

986 | Herslev Økologisk Juleøl | Denmark | Belgian Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. Brew #384. ABV is 6%. Dark brown colour, slightly hazy, big cream-coloured head. Nice aroma of Christmas spices and caramel malts, hints of oranges. Rather light bodied for a 6% beer. The flavour is somewhat acidic and citrussy, notes of Christmas spices, not much sweetness, very moderate hops. Drinkable, but far from the best Christmas beer I’ve had. |

987 | Herslev Stjerne Bryg | Denmark | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, Christmas 2010, brew #379, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8.0%. Ingredients include barley malts, wheat malts (6 different malts, the base malt grown in the brewery’s own field), cane sugar, Belgian ale yeast, aniseed, coriander and 2 American hops. Dark brown colour, slightly hazy, big and lasting beige head. Moderate aroma, notes of malts, caramel, anise and coriander. Full and rich mouthfeel. Malty flavour, medium+ sweetness, caramel, distinct notes of anise, subdued hops. I am not a fan of anise, but this beer is not too bad. |

988 | Mikkeller Burger & Bun L.A. Lager | Denmark | Lager | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Deep golden colour, large white (or slightly off-white) head. Wonderful aroma of fruity American hops, notes of apricots and tropical fruits, hints of pine too. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, again with said fruity and piney notes, but never too bitter. Not sweet, but has still enough malts to support the hops. Extremely refreshing and likeable. |

989 | Midtfyns Påskebryg | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.8%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel and fudge. The flavour has lots of butterscotch, probably some caramel malts but also diacetyl? Medium sweet, with moderate hops for balance. As they say the beer is "American inspired", it probably means that the hops are American, but the hops sure don’t dominate. And I doubt that American beer geeks would be very happy about the diacetyl ... Well, I for one do not get automatically hysterical when I detect butterscotch in beer, so I find Midtfyns Påskebryg quite drinkable. But as there are better beers available on the Norwegian market now, this is probably not one I’ll buy again. |

991 | Mikkeller Spontancranberry | Denmark | Fruit Lambic | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 375 ml capped green bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 7.7%. 1/3 of the beer leaked out in my suitcase during the flight from Oslo to Stavanger. (But that was nothing compared to another bottle where ALL the beer leaked out, and the two botlles that broke, despite being wrapped in bubblewrap.) Still plenty of carbonation left in the bottle. Pours fizzy with a large off-white / peach head, the beer is cloudy red. Intense aroma of brettanomyces / "farmhouse", cranberries and red wine vinegar. The flavour is very sour, lemony and crisp, plenty of cranberries, oaky notes. |

Slightly hazy golden colour, low white head. Strong sweetish aroma of new-mown grass, flowers and honey. Refreshing flavour, not too sweet, with moderate floral (elderflowers) and citrussy notes, subtle hops, hints of honey, low bitterness. I know this is not intended to be a very hoppy beer, but a little more bittering hops would not hurt. |
