876 | Rise Premium Dark Ale Økologisk | Denmark | English Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from NETTO, Denmark. ABV is 6%. Organic. Mahogany coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread, some burnt notes in the background. The flavour has also notes of malts and caramel, but is not very sweet. Burnt notes and dusty hops in the finish. Not exceptional, but still one of the better beers I’ve had from Rise. |

878 | Skagen Væltepeter | Denmark | Doppelbock | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 7.5%. Very dark brown colour, huge beige head. Strong aroma of malts with hints of caramel, also distinct fruity and red wine vinegary notes. Infected? The flavour is malty, fruity and very sweet, with loads of caramel, and the moderate hops are only noticeable in the aftertaste. Too sweet, possibly slightly infected, and not really something I’d buy again. |

Nice enough to drink, but no masterpiece. |

884 | Amager Hr. Papso | Denmark | Abbey Quadrupel | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 250 ml bottle, as Amager Hr. Papsø Quadruple Aged on Bourbon Barrels, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Batch #97, ABV is 12%. Cloudy dark brown colour, moderate to low beige head. Intense sweetish aroma of malt sugar, molasses, bourbon, vanilla and oak. The flavour is medium sweet, not as intensely sweet as I feared. Notes of oak, molasses, bourbon and vanilla again. Moderate hops. A decent dessert beer - well rounded, like Mr. Papsø himself . |

885 | Mikkeller Belgian Tripel | Denmark | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy deep golden to amber colour, low white head. Lovely fruity and spicy aroma, notes of brown kandij sugar, hints of tobacco. The flavour is fairly spicy with a substantial fruity and malty sweetness, not quite as light bodied (for its strength) as some other triples are, has a distinct presence of hops and alcohol. Interesting and quite good. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 5.3%. Amber colour, large and lasting off-white head. Fairly nice aroma, some sweetish toffee and caramel notes, also some "dusty" hops. A hint of fruit too. The flavour has also moderate notes of toffee and caramel, but is otherwise fairly dry. The aroma has notes of brown malts, toffee and nuts. Also hints of wood and "dusty" hops. The flavour has a nice malty character throughout, but is not very sweet. Notes of brown malts and nuts, hints of fruit, very moderate but noticeable hops in the finish. Drinks well. At least it is better than Newcastle Brown Ale. |

889 | Mikkeller Hop Series Warrior | Denmark | IPA | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 115. Deep golden to amber colour, huge off-white head. Moderate but nice aroma of Warrior hops, fruity and piney notes. The flavour has first some malty sweetness, then an excessive hoppy bitterness takes over. 115 IBU is not a good way to acquainting people with the qualities of any single hop - the bitterness becomes too dominant, masking other aspects of the hop’s flavour profile. Mikkeller’s previous Single Hop Warrior IPA was much better. |

890 | Mikkeller Hop Series Bravo | Denmark | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 103. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of Bravo hops, strong fruity notes, hints of pine. The flavour has a distinct hoppy bitterness, but also fruity and piney notes come through. I still think we would get a better overall impression of this fairly new hop variety, if the IBUs were kept a little lower in this beer. The long aftertaste is quite bitter and sharp. My interest is sufficiently triggered to try Bravo hops in homebrew. |

891 | Mikkeller Hop Series Citra | Denmark | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 88. Deep golden to amber colour, huge off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Citra hops, with the expected notes of citrus, also notes of mixed tropical fruits. The flavour has some initial caramel sweetness, then the Citra hops take over. Citrus notes of course, but also resin and a distinct bitterness. Good, but I think the subtleties of this fine hop variety would come through even better with a slightly more moderate IBU. |

892 | Mikkeller Hop Series Centennial | Denmark | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%. Theoretical IBU 56. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Huge off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Centennial hops, notes of oranges and pine. The flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, with notes of spruce, pine and grapefruit. Some moderately sweet malts in the background. Bitter and rather sharp aftertaste. |

893 | Herslev Bryghus Gorms Bryg | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 2.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, brew #449, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 5.5%. Amber to copper colour, slightly hazy. Moderate head, slightly off-white. The aroma has notes of ripe berries and caramel, hints of honey, but also unpleasant notes of rotting green apples and ammonium. The medium sweet flavour has some malts, caramel and rotting fruits, and has an overall coarse character of not very successful homebrew, possibly infected. Low bitterness. This is undoubtedly the least attractive brew I’ve had from Herslev. |

894 | Scullery Brew Pacific IPA | Denmark | IPA | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 7.2%. Deep golden to orange colour. Large and lasting white head. Very nice aroma of fruity and piney American hops. The flavour is also dominated by American hops, notes of spruce and pine, a hint of oranges, on a moderately sweet background. Light bodied for its strength. Bitter and sharp finish. |

895 | Scullery Brew Dark IPA | Denmark | American Black Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 5.9%. Very dark brown to black colour, huge and lasting tan head. Nice aroma elements - roasty notes from the malts, and moderate notes of tropical fruits. But do these two elements blend in perfectly? Well, not really - but the result is still quite nice. Smooth flavour and mouthfeel, moderate roasty notes, notes of chocolate, hints of liquorice, some fruity notes, moderate hops in the finish. Not very sweet. Can the IBU really be as high as 65 here? Incredible! Anyway, the beer is very pleasant to drink, if you simply choose to ignore the "IPA" part of the name. |

897 | Jacobsen Skovmærke (Forårsbryg) | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Shared 750 ml bottle, as Jacobsen Forårsbryg, from a Danish grocery store. Chestnut colour, moderate off-white head. Unusual and interesting spicy, herbal and floral (Galium odoratum) aroma and flavour. "Christmas spices" come through distinctly in the flavour, despite this beeing a spring seasonal. A nice surprise - props to Jacobsen / Carlsberg for brewing something out of the ordinary. |

898 | Black Rooster Stout Oak’n Islay Edition | Denmark | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 00 ml bottle, as The Black Rooster Stout Oak’n Islay Edition, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.7%. Pitch black colour, large to moderate brown head. Nice aroma, roasty, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, tar, liquorice, Islay whisky with notes of peat smoke, oak, vanilla, sea water and old rope. The flavour is medium sweet (or medium dry, if you like), with strong notes of peat / smoke, ashes, Islay whisky and roasted malts / coffee. A slight unwanted acidity and some salty notes. The hops are quite moderate. |

899 | Indslev Sort Hvede | Denmark | Dunkel Weizen | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Dagli’brugsen Skødstrup. ABV is 6.5%. Some sediment in the bottle. Black colour, large brown head. The aroma has notes of coffee, bonfires and smoked meat. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of mild coffee and smoked meat, a touch of fruit and chocolate in the finish. Hints of liquorice in the aftertaste, but only after a while. Decent stuff, but maybe a bit too much smoked malts for an otherwise smooth and tender stout. |

900 | Indslev Hvede I.P.A. | Denmark | American Wheat | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Sweetish wheaty aroma with strong notes of banana and cloves. The flavour is malty and wheaty with hints of caramel, banana, citrus and cloves, but also with a distinct presence of German and American hops. Fairly bitter finish and aftertaste, some grassy notes. Not bad. |
