355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, like the "normal" Sculpin, but with the grapefruity and piney notes from the hops enhanced by added grapefruit. Good stuff.

Roasty flavour, notes of roasted barley, strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate, liquorice, hints of fruity hops, moderate bittering hops.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, low white head. Strong aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves and coriander. Soft mouthfeel. The wheaty flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of banana, cloves and coriander, also some citrus. Minimal hops. Refreshing and nice to drink.

Strong and pleasant sweetish aroma of malts and oranges / orange marmalade, honey, fruity hops and hints of caramel. The flavour is medium sweet and malty, notes of caramel and oranges, and a firm hoppy bitterness in the finish. Some resin in the aftertaste. Very good.

Strong aroma of blackcurrants, brettanomyces, oak and lactic acid. Medium sour and fruity flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, lactic acid dominates.

650 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg, Germany. ABV is 9.5%. Golden colour, moderate white head, Strong aroma of piney and resinous American hops, some fruity notes too. Sweet and distinctly hoppy flavour throughout, with floral, fruity and piney notes. Aggressive bitter finish.

355 ml bottle, as Firestone Walker Easy Jack IPA, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Nearly clear pale golden colour, moderate to small white head. Lovely hoppy aroma of tropical fruits and citrus. The flavour is medium dry with citrussy / grapefruity hops, also hints of tropical fruits, and a fairly bitter finish. Light bodied and refreshing.

355 ml can, from Vinoble Frederikshavn. ABV is 5.5%. Nearly black colour, not much of a nitrogen pour, small beige head. Aroma of moderately roasted malts, lactose, chocolate and mild coffee. Soft mouthfeel. Roasty flavour, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, a slight lactose sweetness, medium bitter finish.

355 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. ABV is 4.9% according to front label, according to rear label (from German importer BraufaktuM) it is 4.6%. BB date 30.07.2013. Malts are Pilsener, Pale (Maris Otter), Münchener, Caramel. Hops are Fuggle, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of caramel, orange marmalade and American hops, also some herbal notes. Smooth mouthfeel and flavour, moderate carbonation. Not too sweet, a little caramel, herbal hops but not very bitter. Not bad at all despite BB date, but will sample again when I get a fresher bottle, might be even better fresh.

The flavour is heavily hopped, but not overdone. Notes of pine needles, resin, grapefruit and bitter Seville oranges. Sufficient malts to balance.

355 ml bottle in cardboard box, vintage 2017, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 8.5%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Smooth flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, moderate hops. A very enjoyable beer.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8,0%, IBU 100. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of American hops, notes of tropical fruits, wood and pine, some malty notes too. The flavour has some malts and caramel sweetness, but is first and foremost hoppy, with fruity and piney notes, and a solid but not too extreme bitterness in the finish. In a blind test i would have guessed that this was a double IPA. Must be one of the better golden lagers I’ve had.

Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. Pitch black colour, large tan head. Interesting and delightful aroma of ripe raspberries and dark chocolate, hints of marzipan and coffee. Rich mouthfeel and flavour, raspberries and dark chocolate again, sweet but acceptable, smooth and creamy. First class!

750 ml bottle, as Founders Blushing Monk 2015, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.2%. Beautiful clear red colour, moderate pinkish-white head. Lovely and intense aroma of ripe raspberries and raspberry candy. Sweet flavour (too sweet for some, I’m sure - but not for me), raspberries and raspberry candy galore, some tart hints and very moderate bittering hops the finish. The alcohol is well hidden, dangerously drinkable. A fine dessert beer. I was about to write "the big bottle is for sharing", but then I noticed it was empty - and I’m here alone. Oh well ....

Aroma of Scotch whisky and bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, grain and dust. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also a distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish. Warming mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

Sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, some bourbon whiskey and bittering hops in the finish. Impressive beer.

The flavour is sweet but not cloying, again notes of cherries, maple syrup, bourbon and oak. Interesting, unusual - and good.

355 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 10.5%, 90 IBU. Pitch black colour, impressive brown head. Roasty aroma, roast malts, strong coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, tar, wood and a hint of smoke. Rich mouthfeel. Medium sweet and rich flavour, roast malts, liquorice and strong coffee galore, bitter hops in the finish. High "Wow!" factor.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Enticing aroma, roast malts, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Can’t say I can detect the blueberries. In the flavour the blueberries come through quite distinctly though, with a fruitiness that meets the sweetness of the malts. The expected notes of chocolate, vanilla and bourbon are there, but more in the background. Too sweet and fruity for an imperial stout? Perhaps, but this is a great beer anyway.
