April 2015: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, wine yeast, lemons and green and black peppercorns. The flavour is medium dry, a slight acidity but not really sour, distinctly yeasty, with loads of green and black peppercorns. Not very bitter. Unusual and interesting, but maybe too yeasty?

April 2017: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 13%. Black colour, minimal tan head. Strong aroma of molasses, fusel, vanilla, whiskey and oak. Minimal carbonation. Rich and sweet flavour, notes of roast malts, sweetened coffee, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, whiskey and oak, hints of spices.

Dec. 2018: 1 pt. 9 fl.oz. bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.4%. Slightly hazy brownish golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of lactic acid, oranges and spices. Medium sour flavour, lactic acid dominates, notes of spices, hints of oranges.

March 2023: 650 ml bottle, at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Orange to brownish-golden colour, small white head. Distinct aroma of ginger, also lactic acid. Medium sour flavour, lactic acid and ginger again, short finish.

July 2015: Small sample from 355 ml bottle, at a 4th of July tasting. Promising and nice farmhouse kitchen / brett aroma, but the flavour was too thin, bland and not very interesting. The Motueka hops did not come through as much as I’d like. Might sample again, but not if I have to pay for the bottle myself.

July 2020: 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger ABV is 6.3%. Hazy yellow colour, small white head of poor retention. Aroma of lactic acid and guava. Very sour flavour, loads of lactic acid (too much for me) and guava. One-dimensional. Not my cup of tea.

500 ml capped & corked bottle, as Wicked Weed Funkatorium Artistry Series III, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of lactic acid, farmhouse, oak, fennel, angelica root, dragonfruit and orange blossom. Sour flavour, notes of lactic acid and lemons, said ingredients are very subdued. A good sour ale, but hardly worth the high price in Norway.

500 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Denmark. ABV is 5.4%. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Wheaty aroma, hints of coriander and orange peel. Smooth mouthfeel. Citric and wheaty flavour, a hint of coriander. Low bitterness. Refreshing.

750 ml bottle at Øl & Mat-festivalen, Oslo. ABV is 8.5%. The beer starts pouring out of the bottle by itself. Cloudy amber colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of Belgian ale yeast, fruity and spicy notes. Fruity, spicy and yeasty flavour, quite nice. Very moderate hops.

Bottle at Øl & Mat-festivalen, Oslo. Pitch black colour, creamy tan head. Very nice roasty aroma, notes of coffee, dark chocolate and cedar wood. The flavour has also a nice roastiness, notes of coffee and dark chocolate again, hints of liquorice.

355 ml bottle, shared with OleR at Olympen, Oslo. American Wheat Ale with orange zest, lemon zest, coriander and peppercorns. Hazy golden colour, low white head. Sourish bread dough aroma, also hints of citrus and coriander. Sourish (house character?) flavour with notes of citrus. Could use more coriander, and definitely more hops.

Strong aroma of ripe and over-ripe berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries) - the raspberries come out up front. Fairly dry and slightly tart and mildly sour flavour, with a distinct presence of said berries. Does not feel as strong as 9%.

330 ml bottle, from Ølbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, with a huge white head. Nice aroma of citrussy hops, also some piney and "dusty" notes, hints of orange marmalade. Soft mouthfeel. Excellent flavour of citrussy and piney hops, some sweetness but not too much, well balanced and very pleasant to drink.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, impenetrable for light. Moderate brown head. Strong roasty aroma, coffee, liquorice and leather, very good. Very roasty flavour, notes of strong coffee and plenty of liquorice, slightly salty finish. Dark chocolate in the aftertaste. The bitterness is not extreme - but that will change if Yin is mixed with double IPA Yang, as recommended.

The flavour is medium sweet with loads of American hops, bitter of course, but not quite as extreme as expected. Mixing with imperial stout Yin is recommended.

Strong sweetish aroma of marmalade, cider apples, oak, farmhouse, vinegar and pickled pumpkin. The flavour is sour / acidic with notes of vinegar and pickled pumpkin. Not my cup of tea.

Strong aroma of oxidised cider apples, red wine vinegar, farmhouse kitchen, oak and flowers. Moderately sour flavour with fruity notes (rose hips). Peppery and hoppy dry finish. Quite interesting, but not my favourite beer.

Nice fruity aroma (esp. oranges), notes of cinnamon, I can’t single out the cocoa. Also hints of apples and farmhouse kitchen. The flavour is sourish and oaky, with fruity and spicy notes, distinct hops in the finish.

Strong malty sweetish aroma, loads of caramel, molasses and brown kandij sugar, hints of spices. Warming mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet (but not too sweet) and malty, notes of caramel and spices, balanced by moderate hops. Drinkable and decent.

650 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.0%. Pitch black colour, moderate creamy tan head. Intense aroma of cocoa / chocolate. The flavour has also loads of chocolate and cocoa, but the sweetness is not too extreme. Also some roasted coffee notes. A moderate hoppy bitterness in the finish (Chinook and Willamette) balances some of the chocolate sweetness. Very drinkable for an 11% beer. I had no problem finishing the bottle - but if you hate chocolate, this is clearly not a beer for you.
