653 | Leon | Cyprus | Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 440 ml can, brought home from Cyprus by my wife. Pale golden colour, large head. 654 | Insëlberg Beer | Cyprus | Pale Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Dec. 2018: Shared 500 ml can, bought in Cyprus. ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, white head. Sweetish but fairly nice aroma of malts, floral hops and hints of honey. The flavour is first crisp and citrussy, but the finish has unfortunately notes of overcooked vegetables. |

656 | Sibeeria Capulin NEIPA | Czech Republic | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.5%. Hops are Zappa, Enigma and Mosaic. Moderately hazy golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of various tropical fruits, papaya, melon and banana. Fairly sweet flavour - I'd suspect some lactose here, but it is not on the ingredients list. Notes of said fruits again, with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Nice to drink. |

662 | Vyskovské Havran (Raven) 11° | Czech Republic | Schwarzbier | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Draught at Pivni Galerie, Prague. The PG beer list says ABV is 4.9%, but the brewery website says 4.5%. Plato is 11%. "Havran" seems to mean "raven" in English, acccording to the website. Black colour, moderate tan head. Nice lacing. Malty aroma with notes of leather, liquorice and tobacco. Easily drinkable, moderate but nice roastiness, hints of liquorice. A slight sweetness in the aftertaste. Very good. |

663 | Gambrinus Desítka Svetlé 10° | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Draught at an "Irish" theme pub in Prague. Waitress said plato was 10 when I asked. Hope I’m rating the right beer. Golden colour, low head. Malt and fruits aroma. Moderately malty pale lager, low bitterness. Easy drinking, but unremarkable. |

664 | Krusovice Jubilejni Ležák Extra Horký | Czech Republic | Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, my wife bought this one for me in Prague. Golden colour, large and lasting head, looks slightly off-white. Moderate carbonation, which I like. Aroma is somewhat sweetish, with grassy and flowery aromatic hops. Nice hoppy bitterness in the flavour and aftertaste, but EXTRA bitter? Not more than you expect from a decent Czech golden lager. Still a lager well above average, as far as lagers go. |

665 | Primátor Weizenbier | Czech Republic | Hefeweizen | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, my wife bought this one for me in Prague. Typical hefeweizen appearance, hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma is also typical h.w.: strong notes of cloves, banana and citrus - nice. Flavour is more citrussy than some German h.w.s, cloves too, fairly light bodied, could have been more complex. Not bad though. |

666 | 1795 Original Czech Lager (Budejovické Pivo) | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway. Sold in brown bottles for the Czech home market. Golden colour, good to moderate head, little lacing. 1795 is another "budweiser" from the town of Budejovice / Budweis (= another Bohemian pilsener, for anyone else but Czech appellation fanatics) with a pleasant Saaz aroma, elements of flowers and grass. Flavour is clean tasting, smooth and soft with moderate but pleasant hops. Just a faint hint of "boiledness" in the background, but not enough to make it disturbing. A nice quaffing pils, not an orgasmic experience but certainly easy drinking. |

668 | Ferdinand Benesov 11% Tmavý Ležák | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. Dark ruby colour when held to the light. A bit fizzy. Moderate aroma of caramel malts. Flavour is moderately sweet with caramel and chocolate notes. Hints of blackcurrants. Some hops in the finish, more than in many other dunkels. |

669 | Ferdinand Benesov 12% Svìtlý Ležák Premium | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. ABV was 5%, like the brewery website says. Very nice Saazer aroma, flowers and honey, some fruit too. Reasonably well balanced flavour with a tolerable maltiness and decent hops which linger through the aftertaste. |

670 | Staropramen Lager | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 This is definitely going to be one of my favourite pilseners in the future (whenever I can afford it - it's quite expensive in Norway - or get it abroad). I guess the Czechs won't call it a pilsener as it's not being brewed in Plzen, but to me it's a pils good enough. Good lasting head, delicious Saaz aroma, pleasant flavour, very well balanced, better aftertaste than most pilseners. |

671 | Krušovice Imperial | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml can, bought in Prague. Golden colour, large thick head. Hoppy and fruity aroma, some flowers there too. Flavour is pleasantly balanced between the malts and hops - both elements are present and plentiful to a much greater degree than many other so called "pilseners". Nice. |

672 | Krusovice Cerne | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 4.4
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 Draught in Prague, called Krusovice Vycepni Tmavé on the menu, but must be the same beer. Black (= very dark brown) colour, large head. Lovely malty aroma with strong elements of leather and cigarbox. Pleasant flavour of roasted malts, some caramel but not too sweet, very well balanced with the hops. For the style freaks: This is a Schwarzbier IMO, not a dunkel - but who cares, as long as the beer tastes good? I’d think the ABV was stronger than it actually is - another evidence that flavour and strength are not necessarily the same thing. Great with food or on its own. A truly enjoyable beer. Rerate bottle: I just realised I had written separate notes of the BOTTLED beer named Krusovice Cerne - I could SWEAR it was a different beer from the draught Vycepni Tmave. Notes bottle: Deep reddish brown colour. Large tan head, moderate carbonation. Moderate malty aroma. Typical dunkel flavour with low bitterness. Relatively light bodied, refreshing. Overall 13/20. |

673 | Flekovsky Tmavy Lezak 13% | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 4.7
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Draught at U Fleku. Served too cold. Very dark brown, nearly black colour - impenetrable for light. Moderate creamy tan head. Lovely aroma of leather and oak, dark chocolate and liquorice. Flavour is malty and moderately roasty, notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Never mind the inflated prices (by Czech standards), this beer is a must (at least once). And the liqueur we were forced to buy (which I drank AFTER the beer) actually tasted not-too-bad. |

674 | Klaster Svetly Special Premium Lager | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle). Okay, I've figured out that the % in the name of Czech and Slovakian beers is NOT the ABV, but has something to do with the malt content. Well, 5.6% alcohol seems just right for this beer. A golden beer with a faint haziness and moderate head, and a grassy, yeasty and malty aroma and flavour that makes me wonder for a second if the beer is bottom or top fermented. Bottom fermented it is, but the Czechs would hardly call this "Special" a pilsener (it's brewed in Praha, too). But who cares? Great hops bitterness in flavour and aftertaste. I always like beers where the elements yeast (not too much), malts and hops are all clearly detectable. In other words, I like this beer a lot! |

675 | Staropramen Kelt Original | Czech Republic | Dry Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Website: www.kelt.cz . 500 ml bottle, bought in Prague. Irish style dry stout. Black (=very dark brown to ruby) colour. Moderate creamy tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of coffee, faint hints of leather. Smooth drinking, but there’s a pronounced bitter roastiness. Strong coffee notes. Little complexity besides the roastiness, but not nearly as bad as some other ratings made me expect. |
