The last beer of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Dark orange to copper to amber colour, white head. Very hoppy aroma and flavour, but also some sweetness and fairly distinct crystal malts. Very bitter finish.

My beer No. 2 of a 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Golden colour, white head. Citrussy aroma and flavour, with a fairly distinct hoppy bitterness for a golden ale. Decent beer.

Beer No. 1 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Cloudy blonde colour, white head. Fairly decent and typical hefeweizen aroma and flavour, citrussy and refreshing, with the expected notes of banana and cloves. Fair enough.

Beer No. 3 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Copper coloured beer, white head. Malty aroma and flavour first, nutty and caramel notes, then a fairly solid bitterness in the finish. A decent steam beer / Cal Common, probably more bitter than Anchor Steam.

Damn Americans and their peat smoked "Scottish / Scotch ales"! Very dark reddish brown colour. Peat smoke in both aroma and flavour, and malts of course. Some hops in the finish. The beer is actually quite well made, but as you might have guessed, peat smoke is not really my thing. (Beer No. 6 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap.)

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, herbal and piney American hops. Slightly dry flavour, nice to have an IPA that has not been killed by crystal malts. Piney and grapefruity hops, bitter aftertaste. Very refreshing.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, as Rubicon Rosebud Special Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, mild spices and herbal hops. Malty flavour (10 different types of malted barley are used in the grist), mid between sweet and dry, with caramel and some mild roasty notes, including hints of roasted nuts, Spicy and herbal German and Czech hops in the finish.

Oct. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.2%. Hazy and surprisingly pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pine / pine needles, spruce tips and dust. Very hoppy flavour, partly balanced by a moderate sweetness, the overall impression is not very sweet. Strong notes of pine needles and spruce tips. Very bitter aftertaste.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Strong aroma of citrussy hops and old orange marmalade, hints of pine and dust. Fairly crisp and dry flavour, not as sweet as many other American IPAs. Very hoppy, with a very bitter and dry aftertaste.

Nov. 2015: 355 ml botlle, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV is 5.4%. Golden colour, large white head. Moderate but fairly nice aroma of fruity and grassy hops. Soft mouthfeel. Dry flavour, "dusty" malts and "dusty" hops with a moderate fruitiness. Not really impressive.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.1%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Fine aroma with the expected roasty notes, coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, hints of leather, blending in with the fruity notes of West Coast hops. Medium sweet flavour, roasty notes galore, strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and liquorice, again blending nicely with fruity hops. Bitter finish. A great beer!

Aug. 2016: 355 ml can, BB date 13 days ago. ABV is 6.5%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh aroma of pine, spruce, citrus and newmown grass. Medium dry and crisp flavour with distinct notes, notes of pine needles, spruce tips and grapefruit. Refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Clear deep golden to amber to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, but not overwhelming. Hints of orange marmalade. The flavour is surprisingly well balanced and harmonious for something called "HopDevil" - hoppy of course, but no devil is at loose here, rather a benevolent HopAngel. Me like!

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.7%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Hoppy aroma, notes of pine and spruce, hints of citrus and caramel. Distinctly hoppy flavour, piney and resinous notes, also grapefruit. Very bitter finish, but also very moreish and drinkable for its strength.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Golden colour, huge white head. Sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, newmown grass, herbs and mild spices. Medium sweet and yeasty flavour, again with notes of white kandij sugar, also fairly distinct notes of black and white peppercorn, noticeable hops in the finish. Not a bad beer, but a bit too sugary.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.1%. Clear golden colour, moderate to low white head. Sweetish aroma with hints of orange marmalade, notes of earthy hops and wood, even a hint of smoke. Fairly hoppy and peppery flavour, with a distinct bitterness in the aftertaste.

Dec. 2018: 355 ml bottle, from Bris ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%. Peach to pink colour, small white head. Aroma of lactic acid and sour cherries, hints of sea water. The flavour has distinct lactic acid and sour cherries, but is not too extreme. Hints of salt and coriander seeds. Fairly refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.3%. Clear golden colour, moderate to low white head. Nice aroma of floral, grassy and herbal hops, some sweetish malts in the background. Medium sweet and malty flavour, followed by distinct herbal hops. A good pilsener indeed, but some European ones are better.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Black colour, large tan head. Lovely aroma of roast malts, oak, oaked red wine, liquorice, chocolate, prunes, mild coffee. Slightly sweet flavour with the same elements as in the aroma, the roast malts, coffee and chocolate notes come forward stronger now, also hints of vanilla. Moderate hops (28.5 IBU). Warming mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

Oct. 2015: 355 ml bottle, from the Danish importer. ABV is 4.0%. Certified organic. Pale yellow colour, small white head. Strong aroma of over-ripe mixed berries. Light bodied. Dry flavour, with discrete notes of mixed berries, hardly any bitterness nor any other sign of hops. Not a winner by me.
