Aroma of wheat, coriander, citrus and salty sea. Very lemony and sour flavour with fruit salt and moderate notes of coriander. Very refreshing. The flavour is distinctly citrussy / lemony, with a little sea salt in the background.

Shared 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Huge white head. Very nice hoppy aroma, fruity and piney notes. Medium sweet flavour, again with distinct piney and fruity hops.

355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Very pale yellow colour, only slightly hazy, moderate white head. Strong aroma of lemongrass / lemon and ginger, a hint of dill. Wheaty flavour with distinct notes of lemongrass and citrus, also ginger, with a hint of dill in the very moderately bitter finish. Nice and refreshing, definitely a beer I’ll have again - especially in summer.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.5%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black, with a huge beige head. Aroma of red wine vinegar, brettanomyces and oak. The flavour is not vinegary, but very oaky and moderately spicy, with a warming mouthfeel.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark amber colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, oak and vanilla, hints of molasses and fusel alcohols. Smooth and pleasant flavour, bourbon, oak and vanilla again, hints of brown kandij sugar but not very sweet. Warming mouthfeel.

Medium dry flavour, smooth and easy drinking, chocolate, mild coffee and a hint of liquorice. Hops, coffee and wood in the aftertaste.

750 ml bottle, probably from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy orange to brown colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, lemons, oak and bourbon. Sour / acidic flavour, red wine vinegar and lemons galore, also hints of oak and bourbon - an unusual combination. This must be the "whiskey sour" of the beer world.

750 ml bottle, vintage 2013, probably from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8.5%.Pale golden colour, only slightly hazy. Huge and lasting white head. Lovely aroma of saison yeast and brett, with fruity and peppery notes, hints of farmhouse. Medium sweet but still quite crisp flavour with peppery notes, distinct bittering hops.

750 ml corked & caged bottle in the Smokestack Series, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9.3%. BB date 01/06/2014. Deep brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts and coffee, hints of chocolate and some fruity hops. Malty flavour with strong notes of coffee, a bit too much coffee for me. Some acidity, again hints of fruity hops.

Delightful sweetish aroma of fruity American hops, notes of oranges. Very hoppy flavour on a solid malty base, notes of oranges again, the bitterness is distinct but not too extreme. A very fine beer!

Lovely malty aroma, mild roasty notes, hints of dark berries, also fruity and piney hops. The flavour is slightly on the sweet side, with moderate roast malts and fruity and piney hops. Medium bitter finish.

Aroma of mild spices, caramel, brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits, spice cake. The flavour is rich, spicy, full of dark dried fruits, and very pleasant - but not too sweet. Sufficient hops, and dangerously drinkable.

355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Very dark brown to black colour, small tan head. Strong aroma of coconuts, chocolate, vanilla and suntan oil. The flavour is not very sweet, but has plenty of coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Moderate hops. The guys at Oskar Blues Brewery have the nerve to call this an "Irish Porter" - I had no idea that coconuts grow in Ireland, but what do I know. The beer is well worth sampling anyway.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate creamy head. Distinct aroma of bourbon, oak and vanilla. The mouthfeel is fairly light for its strength. Medium dry flavour, again with distinct notes of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Good beer, but demands that you like bourbon (I do). A little more hoppy bitterness would not hurt, though.

355 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet; Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%. Deep golden colour, faintly hazy, moderate white head. Aroma of piney and grapefruity hops, a hint of broth. Hoppy flavour, medium sweet, notes of Seville oranges, grapefruit, pine needles and resin. Bitter aftertaste.

June 2015: 355 ml bottle, vintage 2013, BB date 31.05.2014, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.4%. Orange colour, slightly hazy. Large head, slightly off-white. Strong hoppy aroma, notes of orange marmalade and pine needles. Very sweet and very bitter flavour, fruity and piney hops galore, but the sweetness and bitterness are nearly too much for me.
