440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Hops are Strata and Cashmere. Hazy pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Distinct aroma of melon and yellow stonefruits. The flavour has notes of citrus fruits, also melon and yellow stonefruits, a hint of sprucetips, low bitterness.

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Thick texture, does indeed look like a Piña Colada smoothie, opaque pale yellow colour. The can must be turned upside-down a few times prior to opening. Aroma of pineapple and coconut. Flavour again of pineapple, coconut and alcohol - in a blind test, I might have been fooled to believe that this was a real Piña Colada longdrink. Not very sour. So if you think you don't like beer, but love a Piña Colada: try this beer! I am so fortunate to like both a variety of beers, AND Piña Coladas - lucky me!

Aroma of blueberries, sour cherries and vanilla, hints of almonds and marzipan. The moderately sour flavour has the same fruity notes, and is not too sweet. Very nice and drinkable.

330 ml can, as Black Isle Organic Scotch Ale, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Dark reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brittle, blackberries and blackcurrants, over-ripe red berries, some earthy hops. The flavour has also notes of malts and caramel, but is not too sweet. Again notes of brittle, hints of berries, distinct earthy hops in the finish.

330 ml can, as Black Isle Hibernator Organic Unfiltered Oatmeal Stout, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts and coffee, hints of liquorice and dark chocolate. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, and has the same elements as the aroma, also noticeable bittering hops.

November 2013: Cask half pint at JDW Victoria Station, London. ABV was 4.3%. Deep golden colour, low white head. Moderate citrussy aroma. Pleasant lemony and zesty flavour, refreshing, with decent NZ hops throughout. A beer I could drink a lot of.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.4%. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts, stale jam, a hint of citrus. The flavour is moderately malty and citric, medium dry, moderate bitterness. More of an English bitter than an IPA.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Murky pink-ish colour, moderate to small off-white head. Aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries and guava fruit (no surprise there), feels a bit unfresh. The flavour has notes of artificial candy (but is not overly sweet), also said fruits, again an unfresh feel to it. Noticeable bittering hops, which seem strangely misplaced. Appears unharmonious and pointless.

Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, yellow stonefruits, spruce and pine. Flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, moderate bitterness. Good beer.

Flavour of tropical fruits and some citrus, moderately sweet. Hints of sprucetips and pine needles in the slightly bitter finish.

Strong aroma of over-ripe pineapple, papaya and guava, hints of citrus and sprucetips. Sweet (too sweet?) flavour of said over-ripe fruits and alcohol. Low to moderate bitterness.

The flavour has notes of roast malts and coffee, also caramel, treacle and toffee, but not too sweet. Moderate bittering hops in the finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour. large tan head. Distinct aroma of chocolate / cocoa, caramel, vanilla and lactose, only a hint of cinnamon. The flavour is not too sweet, but has the same elements as the aroma, also some mild coffee notes and moderate bittering hops.

August 2017: 500 ml bottle conditioned, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, large white head. Nice malty aroma, hints of earthy hops, no sign of Citra and tropical fruits. Comes through a bit more as the beer warms up a little. The fairly dry flavour is first malty, then some citrussy notes that helps the drinkability. No tropical fruits though. Okay.

June 2019: Cask halfpint at The Beehive (JDW), Gatwick Airport. ABV 5.0%. Single hopped with Admiral. Deep golden colour, white head. Moderate malty and earthy aroma. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The flavour has earthy hops with a decent bitterness.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Gluten free. ABV is 7.5%. Cola colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of dark malts, brown bread, brittle, caramel and burnt breadcrumbs. Moderately sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, moderate but noticeable bittering hops.

November 2020: Shared can, from Vinmonopolet Hillevåg. The best beer of the annual Yule beer tasting 2020 at Lilland Bryggerihotell. "Riskrem Festive Porter" - now, that's something for you! Black (or very dark brown) colour, small head. And the brewers are not lying: Both aroma and flavour have notes of cherries, vanilla, almond, cream and cinnamon. Sweet, but not too much. The roastiness is very subdued. A delightful beer. *2023 vintage, on tap: Mainly the same, but the vanilla seems a bit overdone this year.

January 2020: 440 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.5%. Cloudy brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, over-ripe red and dark berries, resinous hops and alcohol. Rich flavour, sweet but not as much as many other barleywines, notes of dark fruits, caramel and grapefruity and resinous American hops, fairly bitter.

June 2020: 440 ml can, from Être Gourmet, Belgium. ABV is 5.8%. Very pale yellow colour, only slightly hazy. Moderate coarse white head. Aroma of citrus and spruce, hints of pineapple and other tropical fruits. Refreshing and fruity flavour, citrus and tropical fruits again, some sweetness. Low bitterness, a hint of resin.
