6228 | BrewDog Tokyo* | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 18.2%. Pitch black colour, big brown head. Strong aroma of oak, molasses, roasted malts, sweetened strong coffee, dark dried fruits and alcohol. The flavour is sweet, malty and roasty, notes of burnt caramel and molasses, the alcohol is very noticeable. A moderate hoppy bitterness in the finish. A bit too far out on the sweet side, I’m afraid - but definitely worth sampling. |

6232 | Nethergate Red Santa | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.2%. Brewed with rye, and Boadicea as single hop variety. Deep brown coloured beer, low off-white head. Nice and perfumed aroma of butterscotch, treacle, red fruits (esp. cranberries) and mild Christmas spices. The mouthfeel is quite thin for a Christmas ale. The flavour is fairly fruity with moderate hops and Christmas spices in the finish. Okay beer, but for Christmas I want something with a fuller mouthfeel than this one. |

Moderate aroma of toffee and hops. The flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, with a substantial bitterness. Also some notes of toffee. Very bitter and sharp aftertaste. A solid British IPA this one. |

6234 | Robinson's Chocolate Tom (Old Tom with Chocolate) | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Mahogany coloured beer with a thick off-white to beige head. Strong and dominant sweetish aroma of chocolate and vanilla, not unpleasant, but pretty close ... The flavour has loads of cocoa and vanilla, on a malty base with some vinous notes, but the beer is not nearly as sweet as the aroma made me fear. There are some moderate hops in the finish. This is a nice change-of-pace beer, but I would normally prefer the "ordinary" Old Tom. |

6235 | St. Peter's G-Free | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought at Ultra Stavanger (Stadionparken). ABV is 4.2%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate head. Pleasant aroma of Amarillo hops with notes of mandarin/tangerine. I started drinking it too cold, but the flavour is fairly crisp and dry with some fruity hops first, then some rubbery notes in the middle like sayravai says, and a very bitter finish. This bitterness is not entirely pleasant, as the beer is light bodied and lacks malts and sweetness to balance the bitterness. If i suffered from coeliac disease I would probably buy this beer again, but as gluten is not a problem for me, St. Peters Brewery has other beers that are more to my liking. |

Fairly strong and sweetish aroma with vinous and fruity notes (dates, figs), also notes of malts, pastry and caramel. The mouthfeel is fairly rich and full. The flavour is malty but not very sweet, earthy notes, some toffee and caramel, with fruity hops in the finish, leaving a decent bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad at all. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger. Probably not bottle conditioned. ABV of the bottled version is 4.0%. Very dark brown colour (nearly black), creamy beige head. Moderate but pleasant aroma, fruity (plums/prunes) with a moderate roastiness, notes of mild coffee in the background, hints of chocolate. The flavour is smooth and nice with subtle notes of roast malts, chocolate and mild coffee, balanced by a certain fruitiness and moderate hops in the finish. A decent dark mild this one. |

6239 | Copper Dragon Golden Pippin | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV of the bottled version is 4.2%. Extremely pale and crystal clear yellow colour, moderate white head. Very nice hoppy aroma with strong notes of oranges and tropical fruits. The flavour is zesty and well hopped throughout, with a nice grapefruity bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. A typical "summer ale" which I, however, was quite happy to drink on a dreary January night. |

6240 | Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12 Year Special Reserve | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle No. 04062. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, big to moderate and creamy tan head. The whisky oak cask with peaty smoke and notes of vanilla and sherry comes through immediately in the aroma, followed by notes of roastiness (roast malts, coffee) and chocolate. The flavour has loads of rich malty sweetness, immediately followed by distinct notes of peaty smoke - it is quite amazing what impact the whisky cask has. Dark chocolate in the middle. The finish has a firm bitterness from the hops and burnt malts, while the peaty smoke lasts through the long aftertaste. A truly impressive beer, but if you don’t like scotch whisky at all, this might not be the beer for you. Not easy drinking, but a great sipping beer, and a real treat for any lover of peatiness. |

6241 | Badger First Gold | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Deep golden to amber colour, big to moderate and slightly off-white lasting head. Moderate aroma of malts with some herbal and spicy notes (probably from the First Gold hops), hints of orange marmalade and caramel. The flavour has moderate malts with some notes of caramel, and fairly nice spicy and herbal hops again. Moderately bitter aftertaste. |

6242 | Badger Golden Glory | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Distinct and beguiling aroma of ripe peaches / peach flowers, even peach candy - not quite what you expect in a beer, though. The flavour is fruity with moderate notes of peaches and zesty hops (can’t identify the alleged notes of melons). Not too sweet, not too bitter (actually, slightly MORE bitterness wouldn’t hurt). Soft mouthfeel, refreshing and pleasant to drink. A nice change-of-pace beer. |

6243 | Harviestoun Ola Dubh 16 Year Special Reserve | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle No. 61520. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, big to moderate and creamy tan head. The whisky oak cask with peaty smoke and notes of tar comes through in the aroma, followed by notes of roastiness (roast malts, coffee) and chocolate. The aroma is more mellow and subdued than the 12 y.o., but still nice. The flavour has also here loads of rich malty sweetness, immediately followed by distinct notes of peaty smoke - it is again quite amazing what impact the whisky cask has. Dark chocolate in the middle. The finish has a firm bitterness from the hops and burnt malts, while the peaty smoke lasts through the long aftertaste. A truly impressive beer, but if you don’t like scotch whisky at all, this might not be the beer for you. Not easy drinking (somewhat smoother than the 12 y.o., though), but a great sipping beer, and a real treat for any lover of peatiness. |

6244 | Harviestoun Ola Dubh 18 Year Special Reserve | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle No. 12610. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, big tan head. The aroma of the 18 is less distinct than the 12 and 16, notes of sweet malts, almonds, brown sugar and oak, with a moderate roastiness, notes of chocolate and mild coffee. The flavour is excellent, distinct notes of whisky oak cask, peaty smoke, hints of tar, also roasted notes of coffee, liquorice and dark bitter chocolate. Well rounded, with just the right sweetness and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Yummy! |

6245 | Bangla | United Kingdom | Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 660 ml bottle, as Bangla Premium Beer, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Very cool design of bottle and label. Brewed and bottled in the UK for LWC Ltd., Manchester, M11 2ER. Pale yellow colour, big white head. Fairly nice flowery aroma. The flavour is rather sweet with noticeable pilsener malts, bordering on "sugary", but not quite there. Some floral notes, hints of alcohol but not disturbingly so. Low bitterness. Not a great beer, but not awful either, should be acceptable to wash down a curry. |

A nice little summer ale this one. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as Atlas Latitude Highland Pilsner, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.9%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big and lasting white head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of Styrian Goldings (+ Saazer and Hallertauer Hersbrücker) hops, citrussy and floral notes. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is more like a golden ale than the "pilsner" it claims to be - which is not a bad thing for me. Distinct hops throughout, balanced by just the right sweetness. Some fruit and a lovely bitterness, lasting through the long aftertaste. A nice little beer this one. |
