6101 | Isle of Arran Dark | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Peckham's, Glasgow. ABV is 4.3%. Copper coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma: nutty, fruity, moderately roasted malts. The flavour is moderately malty and fruity, notes of moderately roasted malts and toffee. Moderate hops. The weird finish is both sourish, soapy and "dusty" at the same time. |

6102 | Craigmill Strathaven Avondale | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at Blackfriars, Glasgow, as Craigmill Strathaven Avondale. My half pint was near the end of the barrel. Deep golden colour, low head. Aroma of malts and butterscotch, some caramel. The flavour has also malts, butterscotch and caramel, but there is also a noticeable hoppy bitterness throughout. Okay. |

6103 | Hebridean Islander | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at Blackfriars, Glasgow. Described as a "Premium Strong Ale", but I guess most of us don’t think of a 4.8% beer as "strong". Beautiful deep amber colour, creamy head. Nice malty aroma with caramel, and some fruity aromatic hops. Fairly malty flavour with a distinct hoppy bitterness throughout, also notes of caramel and fruit. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at The Standing Order, Edinburgh (a JDW pub), as "Strathaven The Standing Order Red Ale" (allegedly brewed specially for this pub). ABV was 5.1%. Amber colour, low head. Very moderate aroma, nothing really stands out, maybe a hint of blackcurrant leaves. Fruity flavour, notes of red berries, decent hops. Quite nice. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. From "Traditional Scottish Ales Ltd.", apparently contract brewed for them by Bridge of Allan Brewery. ABV was 4%. Deep amber colour, nice head. Aroma of dishwater and malts. Dusty malty flavour, quite boring. |

6110 | OHanlons Goldblade | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Rerate, 500 ml bottle, thanks to oh6gdx (I forgot that I had rated it previously!). Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.0%. Hazy pale golden colour, huge white head. Lovely aroma, wheaty with notes of tropical fruits and cloves. The flavour is also wheaty, citric and very refreshing, moderate notes of cloves. I’m upping it a few points. Original rating: Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Called a "traditional wheat beer". Hazy golden colour, decent head. Wheaty / hefeweizen aroma and flavour, cloves. This is indeed a wheat beer and not a "bitter" IMO. |

6112 | Orkney Dark Island Reserve | United Kingdom | Strong Ale | 4.8
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Rerate, 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Brewed 23rd Sept. 2008, bottled 10th Dec. 2008. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. The aroma is still vinous (sherry), oaky and roasty - also notes of chocolate, vanilla, figs and dates, hints of Christmas spices. Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour has loads of malty sweetness, a moderate roastiness, oaky and vinous notes (sherry and/or port), some chocolate and a hint of liquorice. Moderate hops in the finish. Terrific beer! Original rating: Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. ABV was 10%. Pitch black colour, brown head. Lovely vinous, oaky and roasty aroma, some sandalwood too. Perfect! Vinous, roasty and oaky flavour - a wonderful beer! |

6114 | Black Isle Hibernator III | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, bought in Edinburgh. ABV is 7.0%. This is an organic beer. Opaque very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large and lasting creamy tan head. Floaties from the sediment when I pour the last third of the bottle too vigorously. For once I can fully agree with the commercial description on the label: "A strong ale with a wonderfully rich aroma and flavour of fruit cake, treacle and plum." Add that the aroma also has notes of oak and alcohol, and that the very malty flavour also has decent hops in the finish and long aftertaste - and I have pretty much described this brilliant ale. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Rerate, 330 ml bottle, from Selfridge’s food store, London. ABV is 6.8%. Golden colour, large white head. Fairly nicearoma of grassy, herbal and fruity hops, hints of candy. The flavour is fairly sweet, the alcohol is not very well hidden. Fruity and slightly spicy flavour Original rating: Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Golden colour. Nice but moderate fruity aroma. Fruity and somewhat acidic flavour. Not too impressive. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml green bottle, as "Cobra Extra Smooth Alcohol Free Premium Beer", courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Crystal clear pale golden colour, decent head. Sweetish typical n/a lager aroma: maize (corn) and boiled vegetables. The flavour is sweetish with minimal hops, pretty bad, but the beer is not completely undrinkable when ice cold. |
