500 ml bottle, bought in London. ABV is 4.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of blackcurrants and blackcurrant leaves, a hint of toffee. . The flavour is medium dry with a slight fruitiness, which makes it quite drinkable. Decent hops in the finish, become sharpish in the aftertaste.

Cask pint at the Sand Martin (a Marston’s pub), Cardiff. Jennings was not mentioned on the pump clip, but the bartender said they were the brewery. Deep golden colour, moderate and lasting creamy white head. Malty and slightly nutty flavour, tolerable English hops and a hint of malt vinegar in the finish.

330 ml bottle, as Wold Top Benchmark Session IPA, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.2%. Clear golden colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dry and "dusty" flavour, with a grapefruity, resinous and medicinal bitterness, but little hop flavour besides the bitterness. Won't buy again.

The medium dry flavour has first a slight fruitiness which makes the beer quite drinkable, followed by some grainy notes and a hint of toffee. Tolerable hops in the finish. Not too bad.

The flavour is malty, but drier than I expected. Hints of raisins and berries again, roast malts and some hops in the finish. Not too bad.

I've had clootie dumplings (the pudding, that is) the last couple Christmases, my family finds them more palatable than the traditional English Christmas puddings. But a beer tasting of clootie dumplings, hmm? Clear copper colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of malts and mild Christmas spices. Flavour of malts, toffee and distinct Christmas spices, with an unexpectedly distinct and sharp hop bitterness in the finish. Might buy again for Christmas, or brew a homebrew similar to this.

Very moderate carbonation. The flavour is moderately sour and slightly tart, with notes of brettanomyces, lactic acid, oak, mild spices and dry white wine.

My beer rating No. 8000. 330 ml bottle conditioned, barrel aged, from Aberdeen Country Fair (bought there ultimo August 2017, but the BB date of the bottle was 07. Oct. 2016). ABV is 10.5%. Pitch black colour, but no proper head. Fine aroma of roast malts, liquorice, molasses and dark dried fruits, some vinous notes. Minimal carbonation. The flavour is moderately sweet, with notes of roast malts, coffee, liquorice, dark bitter chocolate, some alcohol and bittering hops. Would profit from a somewhat higher level of carbonation.

Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly dry, with tolerable bittering hops, again a hint of smoke. Not very exciting, but decent enough to drink.

Cask half pint at The Justice Mill (JDW), Aberdeen. 6.0% ABV. Dark brown colour, beige head. Moderate but nice aroma, hints of chocolate and chili. LOADS of chili in the flavour, nearly too much, burning mouthfeel, on a background of smooth and fairly sweet malts with some chocolate and caramel.
