5101 | BrewDog Alice Porter | United Kingdom | Porter | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, under its Norwegian alias BrewDog Høst Porter ("renaissance baltic porter"), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Dense and lasting beige head. Nice roasty aroma with moderate notes of coffee, smoke, wood, sea water and tar, hints of vanilla and liquorice. The flavour is moderately roasty and fairly dry, notes of coffee, wood and smoke. The mouthfeel could have been fuller. Fairly bitter finish. |

5102 | BrewDog Three Floyds Bitch Please | United Kingdom | English Barleywine | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, batch # 096(?, print unclear), Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Chestnut colour, large cream-coloured head. Medium strong aroma of peat-smoked malts, not much else comes through. The flavour is medium sweet with notes of peat smoke and ashes, moderate hops in the finish. A bit one-dimensional. Why the heck must a delicate hop like Nelson Sauvin fight an impossible battle with Laphroaig peat-smoked malts? |

5103 | Meantime Yakima Red | United Kingdom | Amber Ale | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, at Olympen, Oslo. Beautiful reddish colour, large to moderate off-white head. Lovely complex aroma of American hops, notes of various fruits, hints of spices. Delightful hoppy flavour, well balanced with the malts, notes of red fruits / berries, blackcurrants and blackcurrant leaves, extremely drinkable. Great with a mutton dinner, or alone. A "school example" of English subtlety paired with American quality hops in a moderate ABV "session" ale. |

5104 | Charles Wells Bombardier Burning Gold | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml clear bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Golden colour, moderate white head. First a fairly nice aroma of Fuggles and Goldings hops, and, as our American friends would point out: some "skunk" due to the clear bottle. Hints of toffee too, but ending "artificial" and weird. The flavour is fairly dry, and the mouthfeel is not particularly rich. Some toffee again, and tolerable hops - but really not a beer to blow my socks off. Won’t buy again. |

5105 | BrewDog Christmas Porter | United Kingdom | Porter | 3.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.2%. "Brewed with cacao, chilli and festive spices." Black colour, large tan head. Moderate aroma of mild coffee, Christmas spices and chilli, hints of chocolate, also some less pleasant sourish notes. The flavour is moderately roasty and sourish with some spicy notes, a slight chilli burn and some metallic hints in the finish and aftertaste. Not BrewDog’s best. Won’t buy again. |

5106 | Aspall Medium Dry Suffolk Cyder | United Kingdom | Cider | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml capped bottle, from Bunnpris Gourmet Middelthon. ABV is 4.6%. Extremely pale yellow colour, pours fizzy with a white head that actually lasts a while. Strong aroma of oxidised cider apples, notes of sulphites and oak. Medium dry (or medium sweet, if you like) flavour of cider apples, with some less pleasant sourish and "artificial" notes. Thin mouthfeel. Hints of sulphites and oak. Drinkable, but clearly not Aspall’s best cider. |

5107 | St. Peter's The Saints Whisky Beer | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml dark green oval bottle, as St. Peter’s The Saints Whisky Beer, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, low white head. Strong aroma of peat smoke / peated whisky. Medium dry flavour, strong notes of peat smoke / peated whisky and ashes. Too peaty for my taste - if they wanted to add English single malt whisky to the beer (which indeed they did), they should have reduced the amount of peat smoked malts. "Superb balance"? Not at all! The flavour is pretty close to licking an ashtray. |

5108 | Meantime Union | United Kingdom | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 4.9%. Amber colour, large head, slightly off-white. Strong sweetish aroma of malts and stale orange marmalade. The flavour is not too sweet, biscuity and hoppy notes, hints of caramel and some fruit. Not too bad, but I think Meantime preferably should stick to ales. |

5109 | St. Peter's Suffolk Smokey | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml oval green bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of peat smoke / peated malts. The flavour is also dominated by peat smoke and ashes, with just a hint of fruity hops in the background, dry finish. Okay, but one bottle is enough. |

5110 | Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru | United Kingdom | Fruit Beer | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, as Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 5.5%. Very cloudy peachy to brown colour, large to moderate off-white head with a peachy hue. The aroma has strong notes of ripe and over-ripe raspberries (no surprise). The flavour has also notes of raspberries, but not as much as some Belgian fruit beers, and is not overly sweet. Refreshing wheaty notes, hints of citrus. Nice enough to drink, but not worth the price. |

5116 | Wold Top Against The Grain Export Strength | United Kingdom | Bitter | 2.6
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, gluten free, new at Vinmonopolet. Export Strength - ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, lagerish carbonation, but the white head is low. Sweetish fruity aroma, also notes of maize (corn). Lagerish mouthfeel, light bodied. Medium sweet flavour, maize and a little fruit, ending in a sharp and rather unpleasant bitterness. Little hop flavour besides the bitterness. As I don’t suffer from coeliac disease, this is not a beer I will buy again. |

5117 | Meantime Wheat | United Kingdom | Hefeweizen | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Meantime Wheat, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 5.0%. Cloudy golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Spicy aroma, notes of cloves and dust, hints of banana. Citrussy / lemony flavour, bordering on "sour", just a hint of cloves. No detectable hops. Sorry, but the Germans do this better. |

5118 | Little Valley Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Rerate, 500 ml bottle, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.0%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and ginger. The flavour is moderately malty but not sweet, with distinct notes of ginger, also fairly distinct bittering hops. And it is NOT very sour / infected! Ginger warmth in the aftertaste / throatfeel. I'm upping the score quite a bit. Original rating: 500 ml bottle (a gift), as Little Valley Organic Bottle Conditioned Ginger Pale Ale. And yes, it is "fairtrade" and vegan - and "CAMRA says this is real ale". My oh my - you don’t even have to drink it. BUYING it is apparently enough to ensure your passage through the pearly gates. ABV is 4.0%. "Best before" February 2010 - that might explain a lot. Cloudy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Strong aroma of ginger, sweetish fruity and sugary notes. The flavour is really sour, lemony and acidic from the first to the last sip (yes, I mean really SOUR - probably far more than intended by the brewer), with a moderate ginger burn. Dryish finish. Probably infected - certainly not something I would pay good money for. But I am a polite fellow - somehow I managed to finish the bottle. |

5119 | BrewDog / Nøgne Ø / Mikkeller Black Tokyo* Horizon | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle in a thin cardboard box, batch #057, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 17.2%. Pitch black colour, low brown head. Strong and complex aroma of tar, sea water, iodine, old rope, heavily roasted malts, coffee, salty liquorice, dark chocolate, smoke and ashes. Extremely rich mouthfeel. The flavour is very sweet with loads of malt sugar, dark syrup and molasses, coffee, liquorice and chocolate, hints of smoke. No doubt a fair amount of hops here too, but they nearly drown in all the sweetness. A beer to be cellared for many more years, I assume. |

5120 | Craigmill Strathaven Lord Kelvin Centennial | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, as Strathaven / Craigmill Lord Kelvin Centennial, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Deep copper coloured beer, moderate head, slightly off-white. Pleasant aroma of caramel and ripe red fruits. The flavour has notes of caramel, brown bread baked with dark syrup, and lightly toasted malts, balanced by a moderate fruitiness and decent hops in the finish. Just the slightest touch of ginger and chocolate. A very enjoyable brew. Even though Lord Kelvin himself miscalculated the age of the earth by some billion years, he probably still deserves a toast in his honour. |

5121 | Craigmill Strathaven Aleberry Fruit Beer | United Kingdom | Fruit Beer | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as Strathaven / Craigmill Aleberry Fruit Beer, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.6%. Damsons are not specifically mentioned on the label, only "Clyde Valley berries". Golden colour with a faint peachy hue, moderate head, slightly off-white. Fairly strong aroma of over-ripe fruits / berries, also strong notes of toffee and grain. The flavour has distinct fruity / berry notes, but is fortunately not sweet and sugary, nor sour. Hints of toffee, distinct hops in the finish and aftertaste. Fairly decent beer. |

5122 | Craigmill Strathaven Clydesdale IPA | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.8%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice aroma of butterscotch and toffee. Refreshing flavour, some malts, nutty and toffee notes, hints of butterscotch, very moderate hops in the finish, not too sweet. Certainly not an IPA by any stretch of the mind, but definitely drinkable., |

5123 | Craigmill Strathaven Craigmill Mild Black Ale | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.5%. Black colour, large to moderate greyish-brown head. Dryish roasty aroma with notes of ashes, woodwork, cold coffee and unsweetened cocoa, a hint of fruity hops. Too much carbonation in the mouth. Dry roasty flavour, notes of wood and cold coffee, moderate and slightly resinous hops in the finish. Will try again if I can find it on cask, but the bottle (overpriced in Norway) does not inspire me to buy another. |

5124 | Craigmill Strathaven Ginger Jock Alcoholic Ginger Beer | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.0

Moderate aroma of ginger, malts, toffee and citrus marmalade. Light bodied, too much carbonation in the mouth. The flavour has distinct notes of ginger with a citrussy finish, and is otherwise quite dry. A moderate ginger burn in the aftertaste. Okay as a refreshment, but really not much to write home about. |

Decent hops in the finish. Fairly nice to drink. |
