Aug. 2016: Rerate, 500 ml bottle, Cardinal pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Beautiful copper colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of malts with toffee notes, also hints of herbal english hops. Herbal English hops in the otherwise malty flavour too, medium dry. Moderately bitter aftertaste. Nice to drink, moreish - not least for an old man like me. Original rating: Shared 500 ml bottle (bottle conditioned) at local tasting, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV 4.8%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma of herbal English hops, with unusual hints of juniper berries and juniper needles. Very herbal hops in the medium dry flavour, highly drinkable. One of the few beers of the tasting where I wanted to drink the whole bottle. Will buy again.

July 2016: 500 ml bottle, from Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes. ABV is 4.4%, Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Surprisingly dull aroma, notes of grain and dust, only the faintest hint of fruity hops. The flavour has a much better presence of hops, notes of citrus and berries. Nice to drink. The finish is not very bitter though.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of lychee and mango (no surprise!), hints of citric hops. Fruity flavour with the same elements, "perfumed" but not too sweet. Low bitterness.

440 ml can, as Buxton Super Helles Lager, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.9%. Very pale straw colour, small white head. Weak aroma, some pilsener malts and herbal hops, a hint of broth. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has slightly citric and herbal hops. Easy drinking, but not impressive.

500 ml bottle, from Systembolaget, shared in Oslo by my son Steinar. ABV is 4.2%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma and flavour of earthy English hops, some fruit, a moderate malty sweetness. Enjoyable.

July 2017: Cask pint at the Boot Room, Wheldale Hotel, Castleford. Deep golden to copper colour, creamy white head. Moderate malty aroma with hints of toffee. Pleasant malty flavour, good body. Fruity hints of blackcurrants. Smooth to drink. Decent hops in the finish. Some dry woody notes in the aftertaste.

Aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate, mild coffee and roasted nuts. Soft mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour with the same elements as the aroma, not too sweet. Low bitterness.

Cask with sparkler and cask breather, Cardinal, Stavanger. Reddish brown colour (not golden), white head. Aroma of toffee and earthy hops. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavour of grapefruity and earthy hops, distinctly bitter finish. Sufficient malts. Good beer.

Jan. 2018: 500 ml bottle conditioned, as ELB Golden Ale, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4.8%. Hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of fruity hops, also some unfresh notes of stale marmalade and grain, a hint of spices. The flavour is citric with a bitter and slightly woody finish, but not as fresh as desirable.

May 2019: Rerate: Cask 1/3 pint at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019. Black colour, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and oatmeal. Smooth flavour, medium sweet, chocolate and oatmeal again, low bitterness. Original rating: Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting, from Oddbins Chiswick. BB 06/2014. ABV is 5.8%. Black colour, minimal tan head. Aroma of oats, chocolate and mild coffee. Smooth flavour, oats, coffee and chocolate again, also liquorice.

Feb. 2018: 330 ml bottle conditioned Strong Ale, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 8.5%. Amber to brown colour, clear first, hazy when the yeast is poured in. Moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruits and caramelized orange marmalade, also nutty notes. Medium sweet and malty flavour, again notes of dark dried fruits, caramel, nuts and caramelized marmalade. Moderate hops in the finish. Slightly warming mouthfeel.

Jan. 2018: 500 ml bottle conditioned, as Walthamstow Beer Green Hopped Pale Ale, brewed by the East London Brewing Company. ABV is 4.4%. From Ales By Mail. Golden colour, only slightly hazy. Moderate to small white head. Aroma of herbal and grassy hops. Light bodied. The flavour has a slight fruity acidity, a very slight sweetness, and herbal and earthy hops. Not bad, but no winner.

March 2013: On tap (keg) at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Opaque very dark brown to black colour, large beige head. Fruity and roasty aroma, notes of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth and pleasant flavour, moderately roasty with notes of dark chocolate, also some dark fruits in the background, not too sweet. A nice and very drinkable porter.

April 2013: 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, large white head. Aroma of grassy and citrussy hops, with some unusual and interesting spicy notes in the background, also a hint of tobacco. The flavour is fairly dry, with distinct hops throughout, herbal and spicy notes, ending in a little fruity sweetness.
