750 ml clear bottle, vintage 2021, from Vinmonopolet Stavanger - Hinna. Apple variety is Aroma. ABV is 7.8%. Pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a large but shortlived white head. Aroma of oxidised apples, a hint of hops and cheese(!). Nice and semi-dry flavour of fresh and oxidised apples, a hint of sulphites, dry-ish finish with a hint of hops.

750 ml clear bottle, vintage 2020, from the cidery. ABV is 8.5%. Crystal clear and very pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a large but shortlived white head. Strong "perfumed" aroma of sweet eating apples. Possibly Rubinstep? (Their n/a apple juice is from that apple variety.) Fairly light bodied for its strength. Medium dry, crisp and refreshing apple flavour. Might well buy again.

Aroma of apples and apple cores. Fizzy and slightly citric mouthfeel. Flavour of Red Aroma apples. A bit one-dimensional, but okay.

375 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, lactose, roast malts and mild coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet but not cloying, notes of roast malts, chocolate, lactose, coffee and decent bittering hops. Good beer.

330 ml bottle, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy orange to brown colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of malts, juniper berries, cloves and liquorice, can't detect the vanilla. The flavour has the same elements, distinct cloves and juniper berries, a hint of vanilla. Quite good and interesting, even though the various spices might be said to be less than perfectly balanced.

330 ml can, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Slightly gushing can, overcarbonated. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the hazy pale yellow beer underneath appears only slowly. Aroma of oranges and cloves. Citric and fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is too sweet for a hefeweizen, notes of lactose and sweet oranges, a hint of cloves.

330 ml can, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%, IBU 25. Hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Refreshing citric flavour, hints of pineapple and other tropical fruits, low bitterness with hints of pine needles and dill in the finish.

500 ml bottle, batch #3, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%, BU 12. Hazy deep brown colour, moderate to small beige head. Strong aroma of yeast, also notes of malts, hints of Christmas spices. Flavour of sourish malts and yeast, hints of caramel, prunes and Christmas spices. Won't buy again.

Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, hay and grass, also hints of herbal hops and caramel. Citric and moderately fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has sweetish malts and moderate herbal hops, fairly bitter aftertaste.

Aroma of brown malts, roasted nuts, burnt breadcrumbs. The flavour has the same elements, also hints of burnt caramel and dark chocolate, moderate earthy hops.

330 ml bottle, batch #599, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderately hazy. Moderate beige head. Aroma of medium roast malts, notes of burnt caramel and burnt breadcrumbs. The flavour has the same elements, with moderate bittering hops and more roast malts in the finish.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Opaque yellow colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of tomcat / catpiss, also citrus and pine needles. The flavour has citrus, tropical fruits, alcohol and pine needles, with a resinous bitterness in the finish.

Rerate, 440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Very dark brown colour, moderate and creamy beige head. Sweetish aroma of malts, caramel, burnt toast and chocolate / cocoa. Sweet flavour with the same elements, too sweet for me, unbalanced. Won't buy again. Original rating: On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malts and chocolate, quite sweet. I think I have a can of this one in my stash too, might re-rate.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Very dark brown to black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts and coffee, hints of chocolate, oak and leather. Warming mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also notes of caramel and brown sugar. Very enjoyable.

Clear and extremely pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. "Perfumed" aroma of roses and sweet apples, a spicy hint of hops. Light bodied for its strength. Slightly dry flavour of apples, noticeable bittering hops.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark mahogany coloured beer, huge beige creamy head with good retention. Lovely aroma of Christmas spices, anise and English liquorice. Extremely rich mouthfeel. Powerful malty sweetness in the flavour, with an abundancy of Christmas spices, anise and English liquorice. Hints of juniper berries and burnt caramel. Lots of liquorice in the long aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy deep golden colour, moderate white head. Distinct dryish aroma of lemongrass. Fizzy mouthfeel, light bodied. Dry flavour with loads of lemongrass, white pepper finish. No doubt good with Asian food, but also decent on its own as a refreshment. Will buy again.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed specially for the Skral music festival at Groos in Grimstad. Like all NØ beers it is bottle conditioned. ABV is 4,5%. Ingredients include wheat malt, lager malt, Crystal hops, coriander and Belgian yeast. 20 IBU, 11 degrees P. Cloudy pale golden colour, big white head. Lovely aroma of coriander and Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is distinctly spicy throughout, a modest fruitiness carries hints of citrus and banana, the coriander is dominant, but there is also a substantial hoppy bitterness. I find it VERY hard to believe that the IBU is as low as 20, but what do I know - I guess they wouldn’t say that if it wasn’t true. Dry and bitter finish. Tastes like a cross between NØ’s Wit and their Saison. Definitely something else than the pale lagers you will get at most music festivals.
