The flavour is also malty and slightly yeasty with a hint of toast, moderate herbal hops in the finish. Drinkable, but far from exciting.

Aroma of malts and molasses, hints of oak and caramel. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also pleasant notes of dark dried fruits, and unexpectedly distinct bittering hops.

Malty and fruity flavour, notes of melon, a hint of some undefined sidenotes, not bad, but not quite "up there" with the best Salikatt ales. A moderate bitterness in the aftertaste.

Pleasant aroma of malts, brown kandij sugar syrup and dark dried fruits. Relatively light bodied for its strength. The flavour is not too sweet, but has the same elements as the aroma, with very moderate hops. Pleasant to drink.

440 ml can, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Clear and very pale golden colour, small white head. Nice aroma of lime, and citric, grassy and spicy hops. Refreshing flavour, distinct notes of lime, moderate citric and spicy hops. Light bodied, low bitterness. Would have been great on a warm summer's day, still enjoyable on a cold November evening.

Flavour of malts and bread, hints of caramel, but not very sweet. Moderate herbal hops, a little more would not hurt. A traditional Märzen should pack an ABV between 5.1% and 6.0%, 4.7% is just too modest.

Light bodied as expected, citric and fizzy mouthfeel. Not too bad for its ABV, though. Citric flavour, also notes of tropical fruits, not too sweet, moderate to low bitterness, moreish.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 12%, IBU 35. Very dark brown to black colour, small tan head. Intense aroma of caramel and treacle, also boozy notes of raw alcohol. The flavour is not as sweet as the aroma made me fear, still with notes of cassonade and alcohol, some woody notes, moderately bitter and slightly peppery finish. Drinkable, but I'd go for a Trappist in stead.

Aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, also citrus. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has soft tropical fruits, also citrus and pine needles, moderately bitter finish. Nice and refreshing beer, but there is absolutely nothing "Christmassy" about it.

Rerate, 440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.0%. Moderately hazy yellow to orange colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of yellow fruits. The flavour is first fruity, sweet with yellow stonefruits and citrus, ending in a rather dry and sharp ashy and resinous bitterness. Original rating: Sample from tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. My notes differ so much from others that I wonder if the wrong beer was on tap ... Golden colour, white head. Moderate grainy aroma. Very dry and slightly smokey / ashy flavour. Not very interesting at all. Well, it was drinkable, but from Salikatt I expect something much better.

Malty flavour too, again with notes of caramel and hints of over-ripe berries. Medium sweet. A little more hop bitterness would not hurt. Dec. 2022: A bit richer mouthfeel comes with the increased ABV, slightly more bitter, otherwise much the same.

Vinous flavour with the same elements, some fruity acidity. Easy drinking for its strength. Excellent beer, but hardly worth the outrageous price.

Malty flavour with the same elements, also chocolate and notes of cloves, a hint of banana and prunes, some bittering hops. Well balanced and very enjoyable to drink.
