On tap at Prachtig, Rotterdam. Golden colour, white head, some lacing. Standard pilsener aroma and flavour, some malts, herbal and floral notes. Moderate bitterness. Okay with my ravioli & gambas, but does not really stand out from the crowd.

On tap at Prachtig, Rotterdam. ABV is 8.8%. Golden colour, large white head, leaves a nice lacing. Aroma and flavour of spicy Belgian ale yeast, pale and dried fruits, white kandij sugar syrup and moderate herbal hops. The alcohol is noticeable, but not disturbing.

330 ml bottle, as Gageleer Original, brewed for Biosano by Proefbrouwerij Lochristi. Bought at Bio Station Store, Antwerpen Centraal. ABV is 7.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, huge white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, stewed fruits and bog myrtle / sweet gale. Flavour of surprisingly distinct bittering hops, bog myrtle, medium sweet malts and sugar.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Moderately hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, and spicy and herbal hops. Also hints of stewed yellow plums. The flavour has again spicy yeast and spicy and herbal hops, hints of white kandij sugar, nice.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, Oude Kriek (season 19|20) Blend No. 75, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.3%. Hazy red colour, no head. Aroma of sour cherries, cherry kernels, farmhouse, oak and a hint of peat. The flavour has sour cherries, lemons and brettanomyces galore, also oak and a hint of peat.

330 ml bottle, from Det Bette Ølhus, Aalbæk. ABV is 9.0%. Clear deep golden colour, large white head. Strong sweetish aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup and alcohol. The flavour is moderately sweet (but not as sweet as the aroma made me fear) with spicy notes, also white kandij sugar and herbal hops, the alcohol is evident.

330 ml bottle, soon available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.6%. Beautiful clear reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Pleasant aroma of malts, caramel, brown kandij sugar and mild Christmas spices. Relatively light bodied for its strength and style. The flavour is not as sweet as I feared, but has otherwise the same elements as the aroma. Mild spices and very moderate hops in the finish. Please disregard that it is brewed by the biggest brewery corporation in the world - this is a good beer!

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Clear deep golden colour, large white head. Strong sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, ripe bananas and dust, hints of green peppercorns and ginger. Sweet flavour, notes of white kandij sugar syrup and malt sugar, with a much needed counterpoint in spicy notes of green peppercorns, ginger and moderate hops. Might well have another one, but not necessarily in the same session.

250 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 02.01.2015. ABV is 4.5%. I expected something bright red, but the colour is peachy to orange-brownish. Large off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries. Fruity flavour, sweet, but not as much as I feared. Raspberries and other undefined ripe fruits. Hardly any bitterness.

250 ml bottle, sure where I got it, possibly from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 26.03.14. ABV is 4.5%. Deep red colour, small off-white / pinkish head. Strong aroma of sour cherries, almond essence and marzipan. Moderately sour, fairly sweet and very fruity flavour, with loads of cherries and almond essence. Would like some more acidity and less residual sugar.

Lovely aroma of sweet and sour cherries, cherry kernels, almonds / almond essence / marzipan. Sweet flavour with loads of sweet and sour cherries, also hints of almonds. Too sweet, but still a guilty pleasure to drink.

Very sweet flavour, strong notes of sweet and sour tropical fruits, again notes of artificial peach candy. A bit too far out on the weird side.

Aroma of oak, red wine, red wine vinegar and brettanomyces / farmhouse. Sweet and sour flavour, notes of red wine vinegar, sour cherries and lemon. Don’t think I’ll buy this one again.

Sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, mild spices and fruity hops, also less pleasant notes of cheap perfume and soap. Medium sweet flavour, mildly spicy and fruity notes, some soapy hints. Not my favourite Belgian this one.

Interesting sourish aroma of oak, farmhouse, red wine and red wine vinegar, spicy notes too. Medium sour and fairly sweet flavour, fruity and vinous notes, the hops are hardly noticeable.

The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of mild spices and Belgian ale yeast, some fruit. Pleasant to drink.

Malty flavour but not too sweet, more distinct notes of caramel and brown sugar now, very moderate hops. Clearly a drinkable beer, but very far from trappist quality.

Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, yellow fruits and spices, white kandij sugar syrup. Medium sweet and quite spicy flavour, noticeable hops. Warming mouthfeel.

Very nice aroma of rich malts, brown kandij sugar, molasses and Belgian ale yeast. Malty flavour, moderate notes of kandij sugar, but not too sweet. Very moderate hops (Aalst Hallertauer).
