330 ml red waxed bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.9%. Pitch black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, sweat, bourbon, oak and coconut. Roasty and slightly sourish flavour, notes of malts, coffee, red wine vinegar, bourbon, oak and coconut. Not as great as I anticipated.

330 ml test bottle from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 4.5%, 30 EBU. Hops are Sladek (bittering) and Amarillo (dryhopping). Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of Amarillo hops, notes of tropical fruits, also some spruce and sweetish malts. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, but not too bitter. The bittering hops come through in the aftertaste though. Refreshing and fruity with resinous notes, medium dry. Light bodied as expected, but not watery. Quite enjoyable.

Aroma of said berries / red fruits, hints of balsamic vinegar and oak. Medium sour flavour, again notes of balsamic vinegar and oak, and said berries / fruits. Low bitterness.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Herbarium. ABV is 10%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of caramel, brown sugar, syrup, dark dried fruits and heather honey, hints of oak and leather. Flavour of the same elements (except the leather), dark dried fruits (including raisins) come up front. Sweet, but not cloying. Moderate hops. A very enjoyable beer.

Moderately sweet flavour, notes of roast malts, chocolate, liquorice and coffee, hints of caramel and oatmeal. Moderate hop bitterness in the finish.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub, Stavanger. ABV is 9.8%. 46 EBU. Pitch black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, Scotch whisky, oak and sherry, a hint of peat smoke. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. The medium sweet flavour has notes of roast malts, peat smoke, iodine, whisky, oak and decent bittering hops, also fruity hints of prunes and sherry. Well balanced and enjoyable.

Pleasant aroma of American hops, with notes of oranges, grapefruit and pine. Pleasant and well balanced flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, and not too bitter despite its 70 IBU. Went well with my sole meunière and frites.

Shared bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 9%. Dark brown colour, rich beige head. Moderate but nice aroma, malty with hints of dark bread and banana. Pleasant flavour of chocolate and banana, smooth and very drinkable. Low bitterness. Will buy again.

(October 2013). 330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. BB date 09.08.13. ABV is 9%. Hazy deep golden to pale brown colour, moderate white head. Sweetish and spicy aroma, typical of belgian ale yeast - but also some "unfresh" hints, which may or may not be caused by aging. Quite refreshing flavour for a 9% beer, not as sweet as many other tripels, spicy and malty notes, hints of brown kandij sugar, despite the beer apparently being "Reinheitsgebot". Decent hops in the finish.

Shared 300 ml bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. BB date 9.Nov 13. ABV is 5.5%. Black colour, tan head. Malty aroma, notes of molasses, only mild roasty notes with hints of mild coffee, chocolate and dark dried fruits. The flavour is not very sweet, and here the roasty notes of coffee are more distinct. Some hops in the finish. A quite decent stout.

Dusty and malty aroma, hints of cigarbox as the beer warms up a lttle. Medium sweet flavour, malts, caramel, rye bread, mild roasty notes. Nice to drink.

Dry flavour with a slight fruity acidity, notes of wood, rye bread and lightly roasted malts again, some resin. Medium bitter aftertaste.

Aroma of floral and herbal hops, a hint of citrus too. The flavour has sufficient malts and citric hops, also notes of spicy / herbal hops in the finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, large and creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate / cocoa, vanilla, mild coffee and roast malts, a hint of oak and brandy. Warming and sticky mouthfeel. Very sweet and cloying flavour, distinct notes of oak and brandy, loads of chocolate and vanilla, some bittering hops and more roast malts in the finish. Too sweet for me, really, but still a well made beer.

The flavour is moderately sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, also hints of coffee, with a slight chili burn and quite moderate hops in the finish. Well balanced.
