June 2018: Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. Black colour, small beige head. Moderate aroma of roast malts, moderate chocolate / cocoa, only a hint of bourbon. Rich flavour, medium sweet, lots of roast malts and chocolate / cocoa, moderate bourbon, moderate hops.

Febr. 2021: 440 ml can, as Cloudwater Crop Year 2019 Yakima Chief Hops Sample Hand Selected DDH IPA - a taste of crop year 2019, featuring Simcoe, Citra, Loral and Sabro from Yakima Chief Hops. Purchased from Seven Cellars. ABV is 6%. Cloudy yellow colour, moderate to small white head. Lovely aroma of various citrus fruits, also tropical fruits and spruce. Citric mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Smooth and pleasant flavour of fruity hops, the same elements as the aroma. Not too sweet, and not very bitter. Very enjoyable.

440 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 5.6%. Hazy and "dirty" brownish-orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of orange marmalade and citric and piney hops. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of oranges and grapefruit, with nicely balanced piney / resinous hops. Sufficient malty backbone, slightly sweet. Moderate bitterness.

Sample from bottle at RBNAG 2014, Halden, Grand Tasting. ABV was 6.1%. Hazy orange colour. Moderate yeasty / spicy / brett aroma. Acidic brett flavour, fruity and spicy notes.

March 2015: 750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Oak barrel aged and bottle conditioned. Brewed with grapefruit peel, juice and peppercorns. Golden colour, large white head. Aroma of farmhouse kitchen, oaked apple cider and apple cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, citrus and green peppercorns. The flavour is distinctly peppery and oaky, moderately sour (not as much as some other JP beers), notes of grapefruit and oaked cider. Pepper and fairly bitter hops in the finish. Interesting beer.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.5%. Hops are Azacca, BRU-1, El Dorado and Mosaic. Malts are Extra Pale, White Wheat, Carapils, Golden Naked Oats. Yeast is London III. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of tropical fruits, also citrus. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, citrus and tropical fruits again, pine needles in the finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, probably Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.0%. Hops are Ella, Galaxy and Citra. Malts are Golden Promise, Wheat, Oats and Honey malt. Yeast is London Fog. Hazy yellow-ish colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of papaya and other tropical fruits, hints of citrus and spruce. Flavour of oranges, hints of tropical fruits, moderate pine needles in the finish. Okay, but not exceptional.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of grain, dust and Cascade hops. The flavour is better, here the Cascade hops come up front, with the expected citric notes, on a sufficient malt base. Medium bitter finish. Pleasant to drink.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.8%. Honey golden colour, large white head. Aroma of malts, grain and dust, only a hint of of honey and ginger. Fairly refreshing flavour, not too sweet, malty with a hint of honey and a slight ginger burn, moderate hops.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of roast malts, chocolate, mild coffee, vanilla and marshmallows. Very sweet flavour (too sweet), loads of lactose, notes of roasted barley, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and marshmallows, even a hint of charcoal / ashes and smoke. A pity that the brewery uses too much lactose in some of their beers.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 5.6%. Very pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a small white head. Fairly fresh aroma of various apple varieties, a hint of sulphites. The flavour is much sweeter than expected from a "dry" cider, notes of dessert apples, short finish.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, moderate but lasting white head. Aroma of pilsener malts, a hint of herbal hops.The flavour is fairly crisp, but still with some residual malty sweetness, some herbal hops. I was very thirsty when I drank it, and it went down nicely & smoothly.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, toasted coconut, a hint of mild coffee. Cloying / sticky and oily mouthfeel. Exceedingly sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, way too much lactose and coconut. Overkill.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.5%. Clear and very pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Lovely and strong aroma of apple blossoms and various ripe apple varieties, some "spicy" hints. Medium sweet flavour of apples, hints of spices and smoke.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Ølen. ABV is 6%. Opaque yellow colour, small and shortlived white head. Aroma of papaya and guava, hints of grain, oatmeal and lactose. The flavour has notes of lactose, citrus, pineapple, papaya and guava, hints of oatmeal. Low bitterness. Could have been better.

330 ml can, batch #166, from Vinmonopolet Ølen. ABV is 5.5%. Opaque "dirty orange" colour, moderate white head. Aroma of mango and guava, no surprises there. Fruity and sour flavour, mango and guava again, notes of lactic acid, hints of lemons, a pinch of salt. Okay to drink, but not much here to remind you that this is a beer.

500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.0%. Pink colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived head. Pleasant aroma of apples and rhubarb. Medium sweet flavour of apples and rhubarb, the honey has no doubt mellowed the rhubarb, but I could not single out the honey if I did not know that it was supposed to be there. Light bodied and refreshing.

July 2016: 500 ml bottle, as Long Meadow Medium Cider, from Det Gode Brygg, Sandnes. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, moderately sparkling, thin white head. Strong aroma of oxidised cider apples and oak, hints of sulphites. Slightly sweet flavour, with notes of cider apples and sweeter eating apples, hints of oak and sulphites. Well balanced, enjoyable.

500 ml bottle, as Brehon Just Because DIPA, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 8.5%. Deep golden to copper colour, large white head. Aroma of malts and orange marmalade, some piney notes too. Resinous and distinctly bitter flavour, sweetish notes of caramel or crystal malts, hints of grapefruit and bitter orange marmalade. A typical American West Coast DIPA - from Ireland.

March 2015: 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. BB date was 09.2013, appears to have cellared well. ABV is 5.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Decent aroma of chocolate / cocoa and coffee. The flavour is neither too sweet nor too dry. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, mild coffee and moderate but noticeable hops. Well balanced and enjoyable.
