750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 75%, IBU 10. Golden to orange colour, just the faintest haziness, pours sparkling with a moderate and shortlived white head. Aroma of cider apples, malts, hops and oak. Dry and crisp flavour, some acidity, with the same elements as the aroma.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Mahogany to black colour, large tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate, lactose, roast malts and mild coffee. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, very distinct chocolate / cocoa.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8%. Pale golden colour, pours sparkling with a large but shortlived white head. Aroma of pears, a hint of oak and sulphites. Flavour of pears, mid between dry and sweet, again a hint of oak and sulphites. Okay perry.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.5%, IBU 10. Golden colour, vigorously sparkling, moderate white head does not stay long. Aroma of white grapes, yeast, mild spices, oak. The flavour is fruity, slightly sweet & sour, with distinct notes of grape juice, hints of white wine vinegar, mild spices, oak. Interesting beer, but won't be my daily indulgence.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 11.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. No head, minimal carbonation. Aroma of malts, brown kandij sugar syrup, molasses. Flat mouthfeel, some warming alcohol. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also distinct alcohol and noticeable bittering hops. Not a great beer.

500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11%. Beautiful mahogany colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of brown bread, pumpernickel and slightly burnt breadcrumbs, also caramel. Very sweet and malty flavour, loads of caramel, hints of Danish pastry and pumpernickel bread. Very moderate hops. Not a typical Altbier, but okay if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth.

750 ml bottle, batch #2110, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 8.0%. Black colour, large to moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, hints of chocolate, liquorice, spices including anise. Flavour of the same elements, not too sweet.

Nov. 2015: 355 ml botlle, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV is 5.4%. Golden colour, large white head. Moderate but fairly nice aroma of fruity and grassy hops. Soft mouthfeel. Dry flavour, "dusty" malts and "dusty" hops with a moderate fruitiness. Not really impressive.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Strong aroma of citrussy hops and old orange marmalade, hints of pine and dust. Fairly crisp and dry flavour, not as sweet as many other American IPAs. Very hoppy, with a very bitter and dry aftertaste.

Oct. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.2%. Hazy and surprisingly pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pine / pine needles, spruce tips and dust. Very hoppy flavour, partly balanced by a moderate sweetness, the overall impression is not very sweet. Strong notes of pine needles and spruce tips. Very bitter aftertaste.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, as Rubicon Rosebud Special Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, mild spices and herbal hops. Malty flavour (10 different types of malted barley are used in the grist), mid between sweet and dry, with caramel and some mild roasty notes, including hints of roasted nuts, Spicy and herbal German and Czech hops in the finish.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, herbal and piney American hops. Slightly dry flavour, nice to have an IPA that has not been killed by crystal malts. Piney and grapefruity hops, bitter aftertaste. Very refreshing.

Damn Americans and their peat smoked "Scottish / Scotch ales"! Very dark reddish brown colour. Peat smoke in both aroma and flavour, and malts of course. Some hops in the finish. The beer is actually quite well made, but as you might have guessed, peat smoke is not really my thing. (Beer No. 6 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap.)

Beer No. 3 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Copper coloured beer, white head. Malty aroma and flavour first, nutty and caramel notes, then a fairly solid bitterness in the finish. A decent steam beer / Cal Common, probably more bitter than Anchor Steam.

Beer No. 1 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Cloudy blonde colour, white head. Fairly decent and typical hefeweizen aroma and flavour, citrussy and refreshing, with the expected notes of banana and cloves. Fair enough.

My beer No. 2 of a 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Golden colour, white head. Citrussy aroma and flavour, with a fairly distinct hoppy bitterness for a golden ale. Decent beer.

The last beer of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Dark orange to copper to amber colour, white head. Very hoppy aroma and flavour, but also some sweetness and fairly distinct crystal malts. Very bitter finish.

Beer No. 5 of my 7 beers flight at the brewery tap. Black colour, creamy beige head. Dark chocolate and coffee in both aroma and flavour. Hoppy finish. Fairly smooth and pleasant to drink.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 15.5%. Black colour, no head, minimal carbonation. Aroma of roast malts, molasses, bourbon and oak. Flavour of the same elements, also dark dried fruits. Warming mouthfeel. A bit more carbonation would help a lot.

330 ml bottle, vintage 2022, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 8.8%. Dark brown colour, large to moderate beige head, nice lacing. Aroma of medium roasted malts, roasted nuts, burnt breadcrumbs. Malty flavour, moderate sweetness, some caramel, again notes of roasted nuts, noticeable bittering hops, well balanced.

Dec. 2020: 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, shared with my son. ABV is 8.8%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate to small beige head. Aroma of roast malts, caramel, oak, whiskey?, vanilla, dark dried fruits. Nice roasty and oaky flavour, not too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma. Decent hops in the finish. Very good beer.

500 ml bottle, batch #263, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 11%. Black colour, small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, raspberries and raspberry drops. The flavour has the same elements, but is not quite as sweet as I feared. Won't buy again though.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Egersund. ABV is 8.2%. Black colour, moderate beige head. Sourish aroma of malts, leftover cold coffee, decaying dark berries. Light bodied for its strength. Flavour of roast malts and coffee, prunes and liquorice, some bittering hops. Weird and unbalanced, the aroma ruins much of the pleasure.
