500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, big white head. Fairly strong aroma of hops, first flowery, then more citrussy and lightly spicy. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, with grapefruity notes, and has just enough malts to balance it. Pleasant (if somewhat sharp) bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. I don’t know which variety(ies) of hops they have used here - possibly Progress? A nice and refreshing ale this one - will buy again.

The whisky oak cask with peaty smoke and notes of vanilla and sherry comes through immediately in the aroma, followed by notes of roastiness (roast malts, coffee) and chocolate. The flavour has loads of rich malty sweetness, immediately followed by distinct notes of peaty smoke - it is quite amazing what impact the whisky cask has. Dark chocolate in the middle. The finish has a firm bitterness from the hops and burnt malts, while the peaty smoke lasts through the long aftertaste. A truly impressive beer, but if you don’t like scotch whisky at all, this might not be the beer for you. Not easy drinking, but a great sipping beer, and a real treat for any lover of peatiness.

Very nice hoppy aroma with strong notes of oranges and tropical fruits. The flavour is zesty and well hopped throughout, with a nice grapefruity bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. A typical "summer ale" which I, however, was quite happy to drink on a dreary January night.

Fruity hops in the aroma, notes of berries and toffee / some caramel. The flavour has a moderate malty sweetness, some fruit and notes of caramel. Fairly dry hoppy finish. Not exceptional, but definitely very drinkable.

Moderate but pleasant aroma, fruity (plums/prunes) with a moderate roastiness, notes of mild coffee in the background, hints of chocolate. The flavour is smooth and nice with subtle notes of roast malts, chocolate and mild coffee, balanced by a certain fruitiness and moderate hops in the finish. A decent dark mild this one.

Clear golden colour, big white head. Nice fruity aroma, notes of cider apples, spices, farmhouse kitchen and Belgian ale yeast. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly sweet (the kandi sugar is evident), notes of apples and mild spices. Not too bad.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy golden colour, moderate head, nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of coriander, citrus and Belgian witbier yeast. The flavour has notes of coriander and also cloves, and is distinctly citrussy throughout. A nice and refreshing witbier.

12 fl. oz. bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV from 2008 is 7.1%. Clear orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant fruity and sweetish aroma of American hops, distinct notes of citrus and blackcurrant leaves, also moderate notes of malts and toffee. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout (as expected from an American IPA), but the hoppiness is not overdone, which means that the bitterness is firm but not harsh. Furthermore, unlike many other IPAs this one is not too sweet, and seems pretty well balanced altogether. Definitely a beer I’ll buy again.

Clear and deep amber colour, moderate off-white head. Fairly strong and sweetish aroma with vinous and fruity notes (dates, figs), also notes of malts, pastry and caramel. The mouthfeel is fairly rich and full. The flavour is malty but not very sweet, earthy notes, some toffee and caramel, with fruity hops in the finish, leaving a decent bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad at all.

This buckwheat (French: "sarrasin") beer is organic (Fr.: "biologique")., and has had a secondary fermentation in the bottle. Pale golden colour, hazy. Fluffy white head. Sweetish aroma, citrus, cloves, banana and tropical fruits, hints of aniseed candy. Spritzy mouthfeel, light bodied. Mild flavour, fairly dry, some citrus and peppery notes. Okay, but not worth the ridiculously high price in Norway.

500 ml bottle, bought at Ultra Stavanger (Stadionparken). ABV is 4.2%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate head. Pleasant aroma of Amarillo hops with notes of mandarin/tangerine. I started drinking it too cold, but the flavour is fairly crisp and dry with some fruity hops first, then some rubbery notes in the middle like sayravai says, and a very bitter finish. This bitterness is not entirely pleasant, as the beer is light bodied and lacks malts and sweetness to balance the bitterness. If i suffered from coeliac disease I would probably buy this beer again, but as gluten is not a problem for me, St. Peters Brewery has other beers that are more to my liking.

Strong and dominant sweetish aroma of chocolate and vanilla, not unpleasant, but pretty close ... The flavour has loads of cocoa and vanilla, on a malty base with some vinous notes, but the beer is not nearly as sweet as the aroma made me fear. There are some moderate hops in the finish. This is a nice change-of-pace beer, but I would normally prefer the "ordinary" Old Tom.

Lovely aroma of Cascade hops, piney and grapefruity notes. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, lots of pine needles, grapefruity bitterness in the finish, very bitter aftertaste. Hints of caramel malts, but the beer is not too sweet. A nice and very drinkable IPA.

The flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, with a substantial bitterness. Also some notes of toffee. Very bitter and sharp aftertaste. A solid British IPA this one.

500 ml bottle, thanks to yngwie. ABV is 5.0%. Golden to orange colour, big white head with an orangey hue. Cloudy with floaties when the sediment is poured in the end. The aroma has malts, honey, baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables. The flavour has a substantial malty sweetness, possibly sweeter than any other pilsener I have had, with notes of honey and some fruit. Soapy finish, moderate Tettnanger hops in the aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, thanks to yngwie. ABV is "only" 5.8%, but the beer tastes like a dopplebock. Very dark reddish brown colour, moderate creamy beige head. The sweetish aroma has notes of dark münchener malts, caramel and bakery, some vinous notes too. Nice! Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour is very sweet and malty, to some degree balanced by decent hops. Also notes of chocolate, raisins and other dried fruits. I like it!

500 ml can, sold only in REMA 1000 stores. ABV is 4.7%. Clear amber colour, moderate off-white head. Weak aroma, notes of caramel, baby porridge and over-boiled vegetables. Thin and watery mouthfeel. The flavour has some caramel and malts, but is otherwise fairly bland and boring, not very sweet. Minimal hops, hardly any bitterness.

The mouthfeel is rich, warming and alcoholic. The flavour has loads of honey (too much) and malty sweetness. Notes of juniper too, very moderate bitterness. Interesting, but too sweet. A fairly nice sipping beer all the same.

The flavour has brown malts, caramel, brown sugar, moderate spices and woody notes, decent hops in the finish. Not too sweet. This is in no way Nøgne Ø's "biggest" beer, but is nice and drinkable and impossible to dislike.

The flavour is very lemony, also with notes of white wine vinegar, probably infected, like so many other batches from Små Vesen. There are also some spicy notes, and a noticeable bitterness in the finish.

Intense and unpleasant aroma of artificially flavoured sweets/candy, rotten fruits (incl. bananas) and monkey turd, hints of spices. The flavour is sugary sweet, again with notes of artificially flavoured candy, also oranges and anise - and, to be fair, some malts. Astonishingly bad.

Strong wheaty and spicy aroma, notes of cloves, pepper and bubble gum. The flavour is distinctly spicy / peppery with a firm bitterness in the finish. Long lasting aftertaste. Unusual beer, designed to go with "rakfisk" (= half-fermented stinking trout or other freshwater fish), the regional favourite dish of Valdres. I had it on its own though.

Black colour, huge and creamy brown head which lasts too long, it takes ages before you actually reach the beer below. Very nice roasted aroma, notes of coffee, chocolate and pine forest. The flavour is rather acidic and citrussy for a stout, but not vinegary. There is also a distinct roastiness with notes of coffee. Not entirely successful, and there is nothing here to associate this beer with Christmas/Yuletide for me.

Nice and perfumed aroma of butterscotch, treacle, red fruits (esp. cranberries) and mild Christmas spices. The mouthfeel is quite thin for a Christmas ale. The flavour is fairly fruity with moderate hops and Christmas spices in the finish. Okay beer, but for Christmas I want something with a fuller mouthfeel than this one.

330 ml bottle, ABV is 9%. A strong top fermented Yule/Christmas beer from Aass, nice. Very dark brown colour, creamy and lasting tan head. Pleasant aroma of dark malts, caramel, brown sugar and oak, hints of Christmas spices. Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour is malty sweet with loads of caramel, also notes of chocolate, to some degree balanced by acceptable hops. A decent barleywine, will go better with fruitcake and nuts than the traditional Norwegian Yule/Christmas dinner.
