3926 | Oberdorfer Weissbier. | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml swingtop bottle, bought in Spain. ABV is 5.0%. Cloudy pale golden colour, large white head. The aroma is first dusty and grainy, then the typical hefeweizen features (cloves and banana) come through. The medium dry flavour has also some grainy notes, moderate notes of cloves, an apple-like acidity in the finish. Like most hefeweizens it is refreshing and fairly nice to drink - but not the best example of the style. |

3927 | Gouden Carolus Tripel | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked and wired bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9.0%. Very pale yellow colour, huge white head. Strong fruity, yeasty and spicy (cloves a.o.) aroma. The flavour is spicy with some fruit and white kandij sugar, but the sweetness is nearly too much. Still a good beer, but if it is worth the high price in Norway is debatable. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 4.9%. Very cloudy brownish yellow colour, large white head. Typical hefeweizen aroma of cloves and banana. The medium dry flavour has also moderate notes of cloves, even more moderate notes of banana. Refreshing and very drinkable - maybe not the greatest h.w. around, but good enough for me. |

Pale golden colour, Pours with moderate carbonation. Nice aroma of cider apples, hints of farmhouse, oak and sulphites. Pleasant mouthfeel, not too fizzy. Lovely and refined flavour of cider apples, medium dry, notes of oak, just a hint of sulphites. The best Spanish sidra I’ve had, actually one of the best ciders regardless of country. |

3936 | Ambar Especial Apta Para Celiacos | Spain | Lager | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABV is 5.2%. Gluten free version of the ordinary Ambar Especial, suitable for people with coeliac disease. Label very similar to the ordinary version, you really have to look out for the words "Apta para celiacos", if this is the version you need. Deep golden colour, low white head. Fairly nice aroma of malts, herbs and cloves. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Malty flavour, a hint of caramel, not very sweet. Tolerable hops in the finish. Astonishingly good (well, my expectations were low), possibly the best coeliac-friendly beer I’ve had. |

3939 | El Corte Ingles Cerveza Tipo Lager | Spain | Pale Lager | 2.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, low head. The aroma has some malts, otherwise it is "industrial" and uninteresting. The flavour is maltier than the Aliada Tipo Pilsen (which was displayed side by side), and there are some hops in the finish - unfortunately the bitterness is metallic and unpleasant. |

3941 | The 4 Elements | Germany | Pale Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 330 ml clear bottle, from Super Cor, La Manga (Spain), at a price about 5x as much as an average Spanish supermarket lager - without being the least better. ABV is 5%. Pale golden colour, pearly carbonation, low white head. "Skunky" and grassy Heineken-like aroma, also sweetish hints of citrus. Very bland and neutral flavour for a German Reinheitsgebot pale lager - I assume hops should be one the 4 elements, but the brewers sure haven’t used much of them! A faint hint of citrus, slightly metallic finish (as far as there is any finish at all). One to forget. |

3942 | Mahou Clásica | Spain | Pale Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 440 ml bottle, as Mahou Clásica Original, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, pearly carbonation, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma, both malts and hops are noticeable, could be worse. Soft carbonation in the mouth. The flavour has also noticeable malts, the hops are moderate, but for a Spanish industrial lager this is not too bad at all. |

3943 | Estrella Levante Clásica | Spain | Pale Lager | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABv is 4.8%. Golden colour, pearly carbonation, moderate white head. Boring aroma, notes of dust and wet cardboard, also some sweetish notes of maize, hints of detergent. Fizzy mouthfeel. The otherwise bland flavour has some stale and metallic hops in the finish. Will not buy again. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, under its Norwegian alias BrewDog Høst Porter ("renaissance baltic porter"), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Dense and lasting beige head. Nice roasty aroma with moderate notes of coffee, smoke, wood, sea water and tar, hints of vanilla and liquorice. The flavour is moderately roasty and fairly dry, notes of coffee, wood and smoke. The mouthfeel could have been fuller. Fairly bitter finish. |

3945 | Damm Lemon | Spain | Fruit Beer | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml green bottle, as Damm Lemon 6-4 Cerveza & Limón, from ICA Kilden. ABV is 3.2%. Milky yellow (nearly more white than yellow), large white head. Strong aroma of lemon juice, which I like. The flavour is a blend of uninteresting pale lager and tolerably refreshing lemon juice. It is not as sugary as I feared, and may serve its purpose as a "beer" alternative for people who really don’t like beer. |

Lovely aroma of American hops, notes of citrus fruits, tropical fruits and spruce. Medium body. The flavour has moderate notes of grapefruit and spruce / pine, not extreme in any way. Very enjoyable. |

3947 | Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura | United States | Stout | 2.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV 8.1%. Blend 4, bottled 20. Jan. 2011. My bottle was a big time gusher, half of the content came out of the bottle by its own will. I know Jolly Pumpkin have wild yeast in all their beers, but this one was too wild. Pitch black colour, foamy tan head. Strong aroma of wild yeast / farmhouse, vinegar and roasted malts, notes of dark chocolate and coffee. The flavour is medium sour and vinegary, does not blend in well at all with the roasty notes of a stout. Clearly infected. |

3948 | Jolly Pumpkin / Nøgne Ø / Stone Collababeire Special Holiday Ale | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, blend 4, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. Cloudy dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Some sediment in the bottle, you’re in for floaties if you pour too vigorously in the end. Strong sourish and vinous aroma, with notes of Flemish red ales and red wine vinegar. Sour flavour with notes of oak, red wine vinegar, herbs and spices, noticeable hops in the finish. Quite interesting, but requires that you’re into the sour stuff. |

3949 | BrewDog Three Floyds Bitch Please | United Kingdom | English Barleywine | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, batch # 096(?, print unclear), Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.5%. Chestnut colour, large cream-coloured head. Medium strong aroma of peat-smoked malts, not much else comes through. The flavour is medium sweet with notes of peat smoke and ashes, moderate hops in the finish. A bit one-dimensional. Why the heck must a delicate hop like Nelson Sauvin fight an impossible battle with Laphroaig peat-smoked malts? |

3950 | Ægir Kollaborator | Norway | Doppelbock | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV was said to be 7%, possibly incorrect. If the two versions were labelled correctly: The Ægir version has a ruby colour (significantly paler than the Nøgne Ø version), The aroma is more moderate, but the notes of smoke are distinct. Drier flavour, more carbonation, medium sweet. More distinct notes of liquorice and smoke. Salty notes. |
