355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Very dark brown to black colour, small tan head. Strong aroma of coconuts, chocolate, vanilla and suntan oil. The flavour is not very sweet, but has plenty of coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Moderate hops. The guys at Oskar Blues Brewery have the nerve to call this an "Irish Porter" - I had no idea that coconuts grow in Ireland, but what do I know. The beer is well worth sampling anyway.

Citric / fruity flavour with the same elements as the aroma, decent bitterness. Refreshing and enjoyable beer, slightly peppery finish.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Dark brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of citric hops and brown malts, hints of tropical fruits and pine too. Pleasant flavour, notes of brown malts but not sweet despite hints of caramel and brown bread, nice citric / fruity and spicy hops, well balanced.

Sampled bottle, RBNAG 2007 in Grimstad. ABV was 6.2%. Dark reddish brown to black colour. Moderate roasty and malty aroma and flavour. Some oaky and vinous notes in the flavour too.

Cask (hooray!), gravity dispense, at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brown colour, slightly hazy, small head. Decent natural carbonation. Malty aroma, a little fruit and yeast. The flavour is also malty but fairly dry, notes of yeast and earthy hops. Will probably be in even better nick a day later.

Cask halfpint at the Argyll Arms. Black colour, minimal beige head. Nice aroma of chocolate, hints of mild coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Smooth flavour too, some lactic sweetness, but not too much. Chocolate and mild coffee again, moderate hops in the finish.

Aroma of mild spices, caramel, brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits, spice cake. The flavour is rich, spicy, full of dark dried fruits, and very pleasant - but not too sweet. Sufficient hops, and dangerously drinkable.

Lovely malty aroma, mild roasty notes, hints of dark berries, also fruity and piney hops. The flavour is slightly on the sweet side, with moderate roast malts and fruity and piney hops. Medium bitter finish.

Delightful sweetish aroma of fruity American hops, notes of oranges. Very hoppy flavour on a solid malty base, notes of oranges again, the bitterness is distinct but not too extreme. A very fine beer!

Aroma of malts and coffee, hints of chocolate and some fruity hops. Malty flavour with strong notes of coffee, a bit too much coffee for me. Some acidity, again hints of fruity hops.

Lovely aroma of saison yeast and brett, with fruity and peppery notes, hints of farmhouse. Medium sweet but still quite crisp flavour with peppery notes, distinct bittering hops.

Sour / acidic flavour, red wine vinegar and lemons galore, also hints of oak and bourbon - an unusual combination. This must be the "whiskey sour" of the beer world.

473 ml can, as Collective Arts Liquid Arts Festival Series Surround Sound V.3 (Columbus, Simcoe & Galaxy), from Bestofbeers, Denmark. ABV is 8.2%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Strong and pleasant hoppy aroma, notes of citrus, tropical fruits and pine. The flavour is refreshing (for its strength), notes of said fruits and pine again, balanced by a moderate malty sweetness. The bitterness is moderate though.
