Sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Smokey, peppery and roasty aroma, balanced by sweetish malty notes, lovely. Sweet, malty and roasty flavour, the smokey and peppery notes are fairly moderate, the coffee notes linger in the aftertaste. A pretty impressive beer.

Aroma of brettanomyces, farmhouse kitchen, oak, mild spices, passionfruit and other tropical fruits. Sour flavour, notes of lemons, lactic acid, apple cider vinegar, oak and passionfruit. A bit too sour for me.

330 ml bottle, from Green Peas, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Clear pale golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, starch, grass and candy. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, very moderate hops.

330 ml can, from the brewery . ABV is 8.0%. The black can was hard to open. The opaque yellow-ish beer has a huge white head. Lovely aroma of various tropical fruits, hints of spruce. Sweet flavour with notes of tropical fruits, some citrus too, with a moderate resinous bitterness in the finish. A bit too far out on the sweet side, otherwise a good beer.

500 ml can, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Gusher can. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour, huge white head. Aroma of citrus, grass, stone fruits and herbs (Saphir hops). The flavour is dry, herbal, spicy and moderately fruity. A good pilsener, if it wasn't overcarbonated.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Brown colour, moderate off-white head. Malty aroma, also "perfumed" notes, caramel and candy. Sweetish perfumed flavour too, the alcohol is not well hidden. Caramel and toffee, low bitterness.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.3%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of earthy English hops blended with citric Styrian Goldings and American hops. Relatively light bodied. The flavour is medium dry and decidedly citric, on a background of earthy bittering hops. Enjoyable.

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5%. Nearly clear brownish golden colour, hazy when the yeast is poured in the end, large white head. Pleasant aroma of citric and moderately piney hops, hints of tropical fruits too. Citric / grapefruity and distinctly piney flavour, very bitter aftertaste.

330 ml can, from Coop Extra Prestemarka, Tau. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy pale yellow colour, small white head. Sweetish aroma of wheat malts and sweet oranges, hints of coriander. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour is wheaty and slightly on the sweet side, with the same elements as the aroma. A hint of banana. Very moderate hops.

330 ml can, from Coop Extra Prestemarka, Tau. ABV is 0.5%. Cloudy pale yellow colour, small white head. Fairly nice aroma of mango, also notes of pineapple and citrus. Relatively dry flavour with notes of the same fruits, also a sharpish hop bitterness in the finish. Not bad for a n/a beer.

440 ml can, from the brewery webshop. ABV is 5.0%. Pale golden colour, only slightly hazy. Large white head. Nice aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, also citrus, hints of spruce. Flavour with the same elements, but the freshness could be more distinct, and the bitterness is too low. Still a drinkable beer.

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.2%. Clear deep golden colour, small white head. Sugary aroma of soda / pop, sweetish malts and ginger. Moderate carbonation. The flavour is way too sweet and soda-like - what is the point? The nice ginger burn in the finish can't save this beer from the "won't buy again" category.

Shared 500 ml bottle, bought in London. ABV is 4.5%. Gplden colour, moderate white head. The aroma has moderate fruity hops. Decent hops in the medium dry flavour, fairly well balanced. Nice enough to drink. Cask, half pint at the Bag o’ Nails, London Victoria. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Citrussy aroma, also tropical fruits. Smooth flavour but not tasteless, decent hops with notes of citrus and tropical fruits, esp. lychee.

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Golden colour, fluffy head diminishing rapidly. Moderate but pleasant hoppy aroma with citrussy elements and some toffee. Flavour is rather lager-like, with a grapefruity bitterness with some metallic notes in the finish. I started drinking it far too cold, improves a bit as it warms up, but not much. Reasonably refreshing, but no masterpiece.

The flavour is not too sweet, nor too dry, and has the same elements as the aroma. Very moderate hops, a moderate but nice chili burn in the aftertaste.

Aroma of blackcurrants and lactic acid as expected, also some unexpected hints of broth, meat and spices. Light bodied. The flavour is not very sweet, but not extremely sour or tart either. Moderate notes of blackcurrants, fairly refreshing.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Nearly clear pale golden colour, small white head. Aroma of citrus (yes, blood orange) - seems a bit "artificial", hints of spruce and tropical fruits too. Citric flavour, slightly on the dry side, one-dimensional and light bodied.

330 ml bottle, as Baladin l'IPA, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Slightly hazy orange to amber colour, large to moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Aroma of grain, dust, marmalade and broth. Flavour of citrus, orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine, still with unwanted hints of broth. Medium bitter. The flavour is, after all, better than the aroma, but this is not a beer I'll buy again.

355 ml can, as Oskar Blues Can-O-Bliss IPA Resinous, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.2%. Moderately hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, marmalade, malts and dust. Citric and piney flavour, not too sweet, well balanced grapefruity and resinous bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable beer.

440 ml can, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 8.0%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, strong coffee and dark chocolate / cocoa, a hint of vanilla. Rich mouthfeel. The flavour is not too sweet (despite the name), and has the same elements as the aroma, with the vanilla a bit more pronounced now. Very good beer.

Flavour again of pineapple, other tropical fruits and honey melon, also citrus. Not too sweet though. The bitterness is moderate to low.

Keg halfpint, as McGargles Session IPA, at Mulligan’s, Dublin. ABV 3.8%. Hazy deep golden colour, white head. Decent aroma of fruity and piney hops. Distinctly hoppy flavour, fruity and piney notes again, light bodied, but still surprisingly good for a 3.8% beer.

Keg halfpint, as McGargles Big Bangin’ IPA, at The Long Stone, Dublin. ABV 7.1%. Golden colour, white head. Nice hoppy aroma, fruity notes. Nice but distinct hoppy flavour, fruity, not too sweet, not too dry, good bitterness, easy drinking for its strength.
