I've had clootie dumplings (the pudding, that is) the last couple Christmases, my family finds them more palatable than the traditional English Christmas puddings. But a beer tasting of clootie dumplings, hmm? Clear copper colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of malts and mild Christmas spices. Flavour of malts, toffee and distinct Christmas spices, with an unexpectedly distinct and sharp hop bitterness in the finish. Might buy again for Christmas, or brew a homebrew similar to this.

Typical triple aroma and flavour, with mild fruity and spicy notes, and pleasant floral notes of the Saaz hops. Maybe not so very special, but highly drinkable and enjoyable. Would willingly buy again.

December 2015: 250 ml bottle, from Prima Beer. BB date 29.01.15. ABV is 5%. Clear amber colour, low head, slightly off-white. Moderate aroma, hints of mild spices, malts and caramel. The flavour is fairly fresh and fruity, medium dry, hints of mild spices and caramel again, som hops in the finish, but the bitterness is still very moderate. Easy drinking, nice enough.

The flavour is malty, but drier than I expected. Hints of raisins and berries again, roast malts and some hops in the finish. Not too bad.

500 ml bottle, February 2016, from Matkroken Stokka. BBE 07/14. ABV is 3.7%. Copper colour, moderate white head. Aroma of grain, caramel and dust. Light bodied as expected. The medium dry flavour has first a slight fruitiness which makes the beer quite drinkable, followed by some grainy notes and a hint of toffee. Tolerable hops in the finish. Not too bad.

Dry and "dusty" flavour, with a grapefruity, resinous and medicinal bitterness, but little hop flavour besides the bitterness. Won't buy again.

Fairly smooth and easy drinking flavour, despite distinct peat smoke and all the other elements recogniseable from the aroma. Fairly well balanced.

Same beer as Tuborg Classic. I remember the Danish version as an acceptable lager with some caramel sweetness. Rerate, Norwegian version brewed by Ringnes, 500 ml can: ABV is 4.6%. Golden (deep golden, maybe) colour, moderate white head. Very moderate aroma, hints of malts, boiled vegetables, caramel and dust. The flavour has some malts and a little caramel sweetness, hints of boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Not much to write home about.

Deep golden colour, moderate and lasting creamy white head. Malty and slightly nutty flavour, tolerable English hops and a hint of malt vinegar in the finish.

The moderate aroma has notes of decaying fruit, band-aid and yeast, with a hint of caramel. The flavour is moderately fruity with a hnt of caramel, but is not too sweet. A fairly decent bitterness in the finish.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Beautiful deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head with good retention. Nice aroma of caramel, also mild spicy notes. The flavour is spicy and complex with notes of caramel and dark dried fruits, esp. raisins. Some hoppy bitterness in the finish, slightly sharp in the aftertaste. Overall very good - I am astonished that it is not rated higher.
