2851 | Jopen North Sea IPA (Jopen Beautiful Nel IPA) | Netherlands | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, at Grand Café-Restaurant Loos, Rotterdam. " A very good choice, Sir" said the waiter, and he was damn right. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of American hops, with notes of oranges, grapefruit and pine. Pleasant and well balanced flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, and not too bitter despite its 70 IBU. Went well with my sole meunière and frites. |

2853 | Orkney Clootie Dumpling | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.3%. I've had clootie dumplings (the pudding, that is) the last couple Christmases, my family finds them more palatable than the traditional English Christmas puddings. But a beer tasting of clootie dumplings, hmm? Clear copper colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of malts and mild Christmas spices. Flavour of malts, toffee and distinct Christmas spices, with an unexpectedly distinct and sharp hop bitterness in the finish. Might buy again for Christmas, or brew a homebrew similar to this. |

Typical triple aroma and flavour, with mild fruity and spicy notes, and pleasant floral notes of the Saaz hops. Maybe not so very special, but highly drinkable and enjoyable. Would willingly buy again. |

2869 | SPAR Pilsner (Denmark) | Denmark | Pale Lager | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Danish discount pils, brewed for the Spar grocery store chain. Can''t tell the difference between this beer and Star Pilsner + Neptun Pilsner. Are they possibly the same beer with different labels? Anyway, all of them are drinkable only when you''re broke and price is all that matters. (Yes, that HAS happened to me!) |
